A titan has fallen.
The year is 2050. World of Warcraft has shut down. The titan that has seen off the challengers that sought to dethrone it from its eternal reign has collapsed upon itself.
Another MMORPG has risen from its ashes. The first ever to use virtual reality technology in ways that brought science fiction and reality together. From the screens of dothack into a device you could hold in your hands, this is the MMORPG ‘Freedom Online’. Produced by a company called ‘Thunderstorm’, best described as the love-child of Ghostcrawler and Peter Molyneux (if that ever made sense), Freedom Online paid tribute to both the old, the current and the new, taking the world (and many of humanity’s colonies) by storm.
A medieval fantasy MMORPG with touches of science-fiction not unlike World of Warcraft, like its name, the possibilites of Freedom Online are, quite remarkably, endless. Raids, dungeons, crafting, art, socialisation and exploration… Freedom Online has everything for everyone.
But what is this SpeedRun that was mentioned?
From a group of 5 gamers hiding in their parent’s basement to a subscriber base somewhere in the low hundreds, SpeedRun is a Let’s Play group that plays Freedom Online. 5 students, bored and out of their mind, decide to create SpeedRun and record their many triumphs and failures.
SpeedRun’s destiny is not dissolution, but success. Let’s make it so.
This is not Sword Art Online. This is not ½ Prince. This is not dothack. This is not Log Horizon. This is not Star Ocean: Till The End of Time. This is a story about a Let’s Play group in the future of Virtual Reality MMORPGs.
Do kindly subscribe and leave a like. If you want to see more of SpeedRun’s videos, sign up for the RP!
This is an RP about a normal Virtual Reality MMO (as normal as it can get). No rogue AIs, no insane creators, no crazy glitches, no ‘getting-stuck-in-your-virtual-body’.
We play members of SpeedRun, as we wear masks online in more ways than one. It's probably going to be mostly comedy, maybe with some dramatic touches.
