Well, I'm good with all that. I am just trying to figure out what caused someone raised by Joseph to turn into such a brat. Then again, he was always limited by what the "actual" parents wanted, and probably often blamed when the kids weren't perfect, for both generations. I'm thinking some alcoholism, coupled in with mental disorders and eventual insanity.
I also now have this really lovely vision of Joseph often putting himself in the "line of fire" to protect the children and the other slaves. He would probably write the schedules so that he was the only one who had any real contact with Mr. Vandros. Even though as a vampire he was stronger and could have fought back, he wouldn't have, except when he was going to attack Alexi and Mois. Of course, that would not have always prevented things, because he could have been just ordered to stand aside or something. But if we go with all of that, it certainly strengthens the relationships Joseph has with both of them.
Also, Joseph was "domesticated" looong before Alexi took over. I would say he has been for about 400 years. If he resisted their father in any way, it would have been to protect them and the slaves.
