About Me
Hey, I'm Strangelander and I'm just getting into 1x1 roleplaying, so I might be a little awkward or not completely know how everything for 1x1 works, though I do roleplay in the Casual section of this site so the actual roleplaying part is familiar with me. I usually write about 1-3 paragraphs per post (more for the first post and occasionally other times). I'm a guy, but I play characters of either sex. I'm not into RPs that are comepletely focused on romance, but I'm fine with romance happening if you so desire. I DON'T do smut, but fade to black scenes are OK and I'm fine with violence, though maybe not anything way too over the top. I'm fine with roleplaying both in threads and PM, with a slight preference for threads. Below are a few ideas I want to do, but I also have a list of things I'm interested in below that, so tell me if you have an idea too! I'll put a * next to anything I REALLY want to do.
The Dead Man's Estate (Darkish Fantasy Horror)
A pair of adventurers for hire find themselves in a tiny hamlet with some big problems that all seem to stem from the estate that overshadows the place. There are plenty of rumors surrounding the place, but no one knows for sure what's in there. The mayor of the "town" is apparently the son of the owner of the estate, and wants you too explore it. If only you knew what awaited you inside...
I can explain a bit more about the setting if you wish and we can go over the specifics.
Radio the World (Modern Post-Apocalyptic)
Civilization ended sometime ago and nature has partially reclaimed most areas. Survivors are scattered and often wary of eachother, but in the ruins of a large city two individuals each find a radio and manage to contact eachother. They travel through the city, trying to find eachother in the hopes of being able to be with people who aren't trying to kill them or take their stuff.
I'm leaving the details of the apocalypse open, so if you want to do this we can discuss them. Really, the only thing I don't want is zombies.
Nightwatch (Urban Fantasy/Horror, partially based on The Secret World and (mostly) World of Darkness)
At night, Seattle is anything but safe. At night, the monsters rule. But not if the Nightwatch has anything to say about it... The Nightwatch is a sort of secret society dedicated to keeping supernatural events and creatures under wraps. You are two new inductees into the Nightwatch and you plan to keep your home city of Seattle safe from everything out there.
This one is a mash up of a bunch of fantasy stuff, like the TSW and WoD. The Fae are real, though they aren't nearly as friendly as you think. Vampires stalk the streets at night, either trying to catch people unware or lure them somewhere private. Cults surrounding impossible horrors preform ritual sacrifices and work dark magics. And here you are with your shotgun, a spellbook, and your car ready to take them on.
Skulls & Shovels (Fantasy, Funny, Maybe Romance)
A young necromancer drags her friend along to help her dig up the dead and practice her "art". This one is really the only one where I have a specific set of characters in mind and the one I was actually thinking might do with some romance. I would be playing the necromancer, and you would be her friend which is a more open role. I was thinking that they were some kind of fighter type, but that's about it.
Alone (Sci-Fi Horror)
Two people find themselves trapped in a large facility, unsure of how they got there. They explore the facility, hoping to find out who they are, why they're there, and how to get out... *tink* And maybe what that damn noise is.
This is partially inspired by Ruby Quest and Amnesia. Expect plenty of weird mind-bending stuff and horrible background information to dig up.
Race the Sun* (Post-Apocalyptic Diesel/Steampunk Romance?)
We are the crew of an airship running packages across the vast wasteland between cities. Sky Pirates regularly soar the skies in their own ships or in planes, and the streets of the remaining cities aren't particularly safe either. Our latest job has us taking an unknown package across a vast distance from the cavern city Atlas to the seaside city of Ocean's Heart... But this mysterious package, whatever it is, is cause a lot of trouble for our heroes.
Inspired a teensy bit by Guns of Icarus and Mortal Engines (though with less cities on tank treads... Though we could do that). I was thinking this one would have some romance, because hey, our characters are constantly stuck alone, together, in the sky without much space. Still no smut, but fade to black scenes are ok. As always though, romance isn't necessary. Our characters will be making stops at the various towns between Atlas and Ocean's Heart, so we won't be stuck in the air all the time. Remember your rifle in case of sky pirates!
Artifact Testing Division* (Fantasy Comedy)
In one of the premiere universities of the arts, magical and otherwise, a pair of students volunteer to test spells artifacts and retrieved by adventurers and for the extra gold pieces, often with hilarious results.
Basically we're college kids signing up to participate in lab experiments... Except we're MAGIC college kids participating in MAGIC lab experiments. Expect plenty of horrible and silly things to happen to us. I kind of wanted to do "episodes", where each "episode" is based around one particular artifact or experiment. We'd take turns driving the plot and making up artifacts.
Manehattan Weekly (My Little Pony)
Manehattan, the city that never sleeps... Which means plenty if time for the ponies in town to get up to all sorts of shenanigans... News-worthy shenanigans. Our pair of intrepid reporters works for the Manehattan Weekly, and it's our job to find a story for the papers every week.
So this one I also kinda wanted to do in "episodes" where each "episode" is leading up the the publishing of the next issue of the Manehattan Weekly. Like above, we'd take turns driving the plot and story we're investigating.
This (im)Mortal Coil* (Dark Souls)
Two Undead find themselves in a strange land with the same goal: finding a cure for their curse. They decide that they will work together to achieve their goals.
I don't have all that much planned for this, but I do have a good starting set up. This would take place away from the areas the Dark Souls games took place in, but it takes place in the same world. Expect this to be pretty action heavy, though there's definitely going to be plenty of time time for our characters to rest and talk. This doesn't nessecarily have to be based on Dark Souls, but let's stick with the same general idea.
One Billion Space Pesos (Sci-Fi, sort of Comedy)
Ricardo (or just Ricky) is a gunslinger for hire, though not really the best around. After a job gone horribly wrong, he now owes one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy one billion space pesos. Now trying to scrounge together a much money as he can, Ricky goes to increasingly desperate measures to scrounge together money. Unfortunately, Nothing seems to be working out for him.
So I wouldn't really call this pure comedy, but I'm definitely not being totally serious with this one. Basically guy named Ricky needs money fast, so he goes on crazy adventures to get space pesos (the currency of the future!). You'd be playing a friend, his sidekick, his pet space wizard turned weasel, or whatever. It's pretty open. And yes, the currency is called Space Pesos. And no one shortens it to "Spaceos" because that sounds like a breakfast cereal.
Genres, Buzzwords, Fandoms(?), and Other Things I Like
Dungeon Crawling*, Fantasy, Exploration, Post-Apocalyptic, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Sci-Fi, Urban Fantasy, Horror, Lovecraft, Funny, New World of Darkness, D&D/Pathfinder, Shadowrun*, Dark Souls, Starbound, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic*, XCOM, Borderlands, Bioshock, The Secret World, Mouse Guard
Do feel free to PM me about an idea that doesn't include any of theses above things because I'm usually pretty open to anything I think sounds cool, and there's a chance there's something I totally forgot to put down here.
