The Branded, according to ancient text, are individuals who have sworn themselves to the gods in person in exchange for the ability to wield magic. To appease these gods however, they are required to have sacrifice some of their life force every time a spell is conjured. Once branded, it is impossible to reverse the bond. It is said that the gods enjoy branding individuals as they are building an army to accomplish a holy mission of some sort. It is also said that the gods enjoy watching mortals try and wield awesome power only to die by the same power they were granted.

Below is a list of known spells arranged according to element. These are supposedly only a taste of what one who is branded can wield, but not much is known surrounding the subject in general:

Twenty - Six || Male || 6 ' 2

Appearance

The physical aesthetic of Nero Saxon lies somewhere just beyond average, at least in his own opinion. He stands tall enough to appear imposing with the proper posture yet his build is not bulky enough to support the notion. Broad shoulders and general definition throughout his body lend credence to the idea that the commander of the Kingsglaive abides by his exercise regimen, but his torso, legs, and arms are built in a more athletic manner than that of a bodybuilder. Every muscle is trained to be functional rather than pleasing to the eye and this results in a slimmer profile though Nero is firmly of a medium build. Facial features are also of an average nature with soft brown eyes and a well groomed goatee under dark hair; a tuft of locks slick back and down into hanging groups of strands while the sides of the head are shaved down a bit.

Nero dresses in the standard garb all Kingsglaive members wear which consists of a dark grey, long sleeve shirt hidden underneath a collared vest - usually buttoned through clasps all the way up - also rooted in colors of grey and black; black tactical pants (basically cargo pants made of a breathable material and lots more pockets) are neatly tucked into equally dark, shin high combat boots and a pair of ebony fingerless gloves round out the ensemble. He bears no loyalty to jewelry of any kind in spite of a past which suggests otherwise though the only adornment rests in his right ear; a solid black bluetooth ear piece is also standard issue amongst the Kingsglaive. It allows for short and long range communication between the team and it is completely encrypted through both technological and magical means.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ -{}--{}--{}- ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Weapon

Nero carries a hybrid lance ax weapon as his preferred melee armament. The weapon appears as a lance that is slightly taller than the owner himself. The head of the lance mirrors a trident-like style though the two outer prongs are full-sized ax blades of a shining sliver and gold and the middle prong is a golden spear head, diamond shaped, rising above the outer prongs for piercing. The butt of the lance is a golden cone that begins thick at the base and becomes slender closer to the tip. The shaft of the lance is solid ebony and is comprised of an alloy of metals giving the weapon a certain heft.

Elemental Affinity

Lightning

Magic

Thunder - Shoots a lightning bolt at a single target

Jolt - Sends a jolt of electricity through the user's palm

Personality

Nero's personality does not exactly match the duty-bound face he wears when on the job. Contrary to the strict professionalism expected from all who serve in any sort of military, the commander of the Kingsglaive is actually an easy-going individual. Outside of battle and serious situations, Nero Saxon is a laid back socialite who often uses wit and sarcasm to lighten the mood or, as said by the man himself, just because he wants to. He is a man who starts the conversation rather than waiting to be engaged and he seems to genuinely enjoy going back and forth with others in the jokingly combative way he does from time to time.

This demeanor makes him easily approachable to almost any kind of person and makes the team dynamic more comfortable and natural because Nero, in spite of his ranking, is just "one of the guys". In more serious situations however, the commander's attitude goes through a complete 180. Battle-hardened eyes and a more aggressive posture contribute to the stern visage and iron resolve more associated with a member of the Kingsglaive. Conversations can often become short and sharp when the mood shifts to this state and some say it is the pain of the past that fuels this attitude when duty calls.

Overall, Nero Saxon boils down to two distinct halves that come together to complete the man himself. He is not perfect and though his jokes can sometimes go too far or his more harsh demeanor can bite too harshly, Nero at least tries his best to be an engaging and approachable member of the team while flipping the switch to a soldier's mindset when appropriate.

History

Nero Xavier Saxon was born in the kingdom of Ivalice, but raised only by his mother. As the story goes, his father was only in his life until his third birthday and then walked out to never return. Andrea Saxon chose to dedicate her life and family to the Queen's Army, proudly rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. Due to her occupation, money was never much of a want for the single mother and her child, but she equally missed out on time with her son as she tended to her duties. Nero was actually raised by a multitude of nanny's and babysitters, but he learned of the world on his own. He routinely escaped his watcher's sights and perused the busy streets of Ivalice, taking time to marvel at the airships lumbering along above the skyscrapers or even journeying to the edge of the city to watch the beasts roam and live from atop the high wall standing guard around the metropolis.

When the boy reached the age of his teenage years, his unapproved excursions grew even bolder. Nero regularly ventured beyond the city walls and into the wilds gaining an appreciation for nature and outdoor exploration. He found himself enthralled with the things he had never seen before and the experiences he could have if he went just a little further. He even got into urban climbing and was arrested more than once for scaling the sides of city towers, office buildings, and mapping out the interconnected sewage systems for his own enjoyment. Adventure and discovery were the things that drove Nero as he grew older and as he went through school and inched ever closer to high school graduation, he knew he would decide on a career path that would allow him to travel and satisfy his thirst for firsthand knowledge.

Despite the fact that his mother was around for more than weeks at a time, Nero had always respected her position. Ivalice instilled the importance of the army and order into the hearts of its people and the now graduated young man was no exception. Instead of enrolling in a traditional college after high school, Nero opted to join Ivalice's prestigious military academy. It was a college that would allow one to join the Queen's Army if they so chose, but also would teach military skills and tactics to those who had enough money and passion to learn. Though long and arduous, Nero was able to complete his four year commitment and graduated from the military academy with an even stronger urge to get away and see the world. Before that, however, another urge overtook him - love.

At the young age of 22, Nero was married to a girl he met in the academy. The two had been part of different platoons during their time at the college, but once they were introduced to each other they would often sneak away in the quietest moments to share time together and get to know one another. Though they were always caught and reprimanded for these actions, the bond never stopped growing between the duo. This union that eventually grew into full blown marriage would only last nine months however and it circled back to a decision that had been nagging at the boy for some time - the decision to join the Queen's Army of Ivalice with his love or not.

In the end, he decided against joining the Queen's Army and left his hometown for its rival Algareth. At that time, Nero harbored no political feelings of any kind and ignored the fact that Ivalice held a deep hatred for those of Algareth as he simply wished to see the things he had never lay eyes on and move passed the memories of a marital union that did not work out. Through a series of events, however, Nero got much more than he bargained for and it came to pass that four years later, now aged 26, he commands an elite covert unit called the Kingsglaive.

Trivia

- Nero is a smoker, though he is desperately trying to quit. He is down to a quarter pack a day.

- Nero's favorite food is pizza and despite his health regimen, he can't help but to eat whole pies whenever given the chance.

- Due to his childhood of urban and outdoor exploration, Nero can navigate the land without the use of technology and he is an excellent climber and parkour enthusiast.

B L A I R C L O V E R F I E L D

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Height: 5 feet 8 inches

Appearance: Blair is a young woman of fair, white skin. She has long, shoulder length blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and an athletic build. She weighs 126 lbs and stands at 5'8''. She has a birthmark on the right side of her neck. She has a tattoo of angel wings on her lower back.

Blair traditionally wears dark colors, especially blacks, reds, and purples. Most notably she wears her dark red jacket over a silver camisole top, black leather pants and her heeled boots. She wears a charm bracelet on her left wrist with different memories she's had over the course of her life.

Weapon" Blair's chosen melee weapon is a long, silver staff. On either end of it is a blade. One blade is light blue and the other blade is dark gray. The staff itself can be broken up into links and used as a whip-like, dual-bladed weapon. She calls her weapon Seraphim

Elemental Affinity: Fire

Spells: -Fire: Shoots a fireball

-Ember: Shoots a stream of sparks that can ignite a single target

Personality: Blair has often been called an ice queen. She doesn't go around with a permanent scowl on her face, but she doesn't smile (unless given a very good reason). Tough and dedicated, she believes in honor above all else. She doesn't trust easily and to those she does trust she cares for deeply, even if she doesn't show it or say it. Willing to go out of her way to help those in need, she can't stand injustice and corruption in whatever form they appear, from the lowliest street thug to the high powered corporation. If there's a fight to be had, Blair isn't afraid to get her hands dirty.

Blair does have a kind side when it comes to children. Believing in their innocence, she will go against an authority's wishes if a child is in danger. Blair also has been known to kick back and actually relax when she has had one too much to drink. She does have a sense of humor, but one has to find it first.

History: Blair was born for the soldier's life. The youngest daughter of Fiona and Lance Cloverfield, fighting has been in the blood for as long as the Cloverfield name has been in existence. They lived in an upper class neighborhood in the city of Laurellia, Lance is the Captain of his own unit and Fiona trains new recruits. The family was close, but how close can you get when all you think about is fighting?

Trained at a young age with a sword, Blair and her siblings were under the strict tutelage of their parents. Though they cared for their children, they could only see themselves in them and what they could become. Blair tried hard to be the best of her siblings, but was bested by her brother, Nicholas, and her sister, Lilith. No matter how hard she trained, they always got the best of her, and in turn, got the attention of her parents.

Unknown to them, plots were set in motion. The Laurellian government needed a fall guy, someone that the town needed to take the punishment for the years of corruption. The current power was a man named Samson Grey, a powerful, intimidating man who got his way through sheer force. The power of ruling got the better of him and a rivalry got to far when he murdered a neighboring kingdom's son. Rather than take the fall, Samson looked for someone to take the fall. Lance was that man.

Evidence pointed the authorities in his direction, but not before the neighboring kingdom took matters into their own hands. An assassination attempt against the Cloverfield family killed everyone except young Blair, who was training in the back of her home when the attack happened. Blair walked in to see her family dead. The news broadcasted their deaths as "symbolic" and "natural". Samson used the deed to declare war on their neighbors. Blair had no choice, she didn't have a home anymore. Taking her father's sword, she traveled away from the kingdom she called her home.

The years were not so kind to her. She faced many hardships and fought many things. Her combat prowess grew out of desperation rather than strict training. She made few friends in her journeys, some provided her food, some a roof. She never stayed for too long. She didn't know if she could trust anyone. Thoughts of revenge raced through her head against the man who essentially had her family killed.

It took many years of travel before she settled in Algareth.

Cover Job: When Blair isn't going on Kingsglaive missions, she works in a bar as a bartender/bouncer. She serves drinks and helps keep patrons in line.

Relationships:

-Nero: Blair didn't know what to think of their "leader" when she first met him. She wondered why someone like him would ever be in charge of a group as important as Kingsglaive. She assumed he either won the title in a bet or it was a family deal. However, Nero has proven to be a good leader and one Blair feels comfortable being led by.

-Gideon: Out of everyone, Blair felt she could get along best with Gideon. She admired his confidence, even though she felt it was often times unwarranted. His disdain for authority has also made Blair appreciate him more. As they got to know each other, Blair got to see him in a different light, and that made her like him all the more.

-Saga: Blair couldn't help but find Saga annoying at first. Though she was loyal, determined, and headstrong, Blair didn't enjoy the scolding Saga often brought along with it. As the two got to know each other better, Blair grew to tolerate Saga (a form of friendship in Blair's eyes). She respects Saga and her ideals.

-Mirany: Probably the only person in Blair's circle with the ability to calm her down when she gets heated, Blair would consider Mirany her closest friend out of everyone. Though she won't admit it, Mirany is very much like Blair's older sister. She finds herself comfortable around her, even if the two are just sitting around.

-Dianthe: Blair wanted to punch Dianthe in the face. She never hid this fact. However, the girl has become an interesting person to get to know. Despite the fact she keeps trying to text her, get her to go to parties and hangs out at her bar, Blair does admire the fact Dianthe can easily show her emotions and doesn't appear weak when doing so.

Trivia:

- Blair's favorite food is chocolate covered strawberries.

- Blair picked up her weapon on her journey when one of her "friends" gave it to her after he saved her life. She felt instantly drawn to the weapon.

- Blair is wanted in the city of Kurth for getting into a fight with a local gang organization. She kicked all their butts and they are now out for blood.

- Blair doesn't enjoy being naked. She is very self-conscious about her body, despite being lean and attractive.

- Blair actually had pink hair before. What? It was a phase!

Name Gideon Carrahy
Age 24
Gender: Male
Height 5'11"
Appearance
Gideon is a straight-backed and impeccably well-groomed fellow, dashing good looks always having been an important quality to him. He is rarely seen outside of a uniform, dress or otherwise - his skin is a pale white, and his dark hair, beard and mustache are always perfectly combed.

Weapon: Gideon wields a custom-designed shock-enhanced twinblade - if you start by imagining a double-bladed lightsaber, you wouldn't be far off, except for the fact that the 'blade' parts are slightly shorter and have actual metal blades in them, though the alloy is infused with electricity so as to deliver powerful electric shocks on contact. The handle, which is made of non-conductive material, can be split into two so as to convert the weapon into a pair of shortspears.

Elemental Affinity: Air

-Wind
-Shoots a blade of wind at a single target
-Gust
-Shoots a small wall of wind forward, blowing back targets

Personality: Perhaps the first word that comes to mind about Gideon is 'confident', or maybe 'arrogant' if one was being ungenerous. He oozes confidence and self-assurance from every pore - he knows (or thinks he knows) that he's the best, and while he's not exactly going around boasting, he doesn't believe in false modesty either. He has something of a self-perception as a charming rascal, and it's not far from the truth, as his quick wit is only just matched by his contempt for authority - not the best qualities for a soldier, perhaps, but they've made him quite notorious in some circles.

History: Gideon was born to relatively wealthy circumstances in the kingdom of Teirland, a frigid island nation that is one of the oldest and most devout allies of Algareth. Though the kingdom is small, they have a reputation for honor and military strength that is well founded. Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about the kingdom is their vaunted Airship Corps, an elite sect of their military responsible for crewing the fleet of flying technological marvels that represent the pinnacle of Teirland's achievement.

Anyway, Gideon was born to wealth in the kingdom of Teirland. His father was a vaunted public official, and it was assumed that all of this three sons would go on to serve the nation similarly. Gideon's elder brother became a politician, like his father before him, while Gideon's younger brother showed great aptitude for the sciences. Gideon, however, had no obvious talents, and so at the age of twelve he was shipped off to a military academy. Though he took to the combat training like a duck to water, he was completely uninterested in any of the military discipline his instructors attempted to drill into him, and it's quite likely he wouldn't have succeeded in graduating were it not for the influence of his father (and his prodigious talent in combat).

But graduate Gideon did, and soon he was a fully-fledged officer in the Airship Corps. Promotion did little to mollify his pride or his disdain for propriety, and he quickly displayed a propensity for shirking his non-combat duties, addressing his superiors by their first names and making a scene at officer's balls. Contributing to his ego were several early victories in what looked to be a promising military career, and though for the time being his talent as a warrior has been enough for his superiors to overlook his shortcomings as a soldier, they have come very near to the edge of their patience more than a few times. Everyone knows it's not going to be long before Gideon crosses the wrong man or disregards the wrong order in the heat of battle - and when that happens, the consequences will fall squarely on his shoulders.

Relationships:

Nero:

Mirany:

Blair:

Dianthe:

Saga:

Trivia: Not much, besides the fact that Teirland is (obviously) inspired by traditional depictions of Victorian London. Also, I'd consider this to be his themesong, even though it's about a character of different gender from a different genre, just because it covers his attitude pretty well. Oh, and since everyone else is doing favorite food: Gideon loves a cheeseburger.

S a g a F u l c r o s s
28 || Female || 5'6"

Appearance:

With medium length dark brown hair, chocolate eyes, and tanned skin, Saga Fulcross holds her athletic form high and proud. There is confidence in her expression, but her eyes are like daggers, threatening and narrow. Her body is hourglass-shaped although she does not try to accentuate any of her assets. In fact, she would regard it as a curse due to the comments people have made in the past. Not to mention, it can make finding clothes a nightmare. Luckily, most people are intimidated by her stature and deadpan expression that they don't say anything about her body though.

Saga uses little to no make-up, preferring a natural look, and in her free time, she dresses comfortably, disdaining most formal wear. She does not seem to notice when she dresses proactively. Jewelry-wise, Saga has 2 piercings in each ear, which she will often accessorize to fit her own style. When it comes time to do her job, Saga dawns the familiar raiment that the Kingsglaive wear, although she may modify it to be more comfortable.

If one were to see past her clothed self, they would find that Saga has multiple scars running throughout her body, a testament to the strife she has seen.

Weapon

Twin obsidian-colored katars that are obscenely sharp. The blades extend out about two feet in length, decorated with silver designs running down their lengths. Rather than traditional, unguarded hand grips, these weapons have custom made grips of a titanium alloy that look very similar to gauntlets. This is for defensive purposes to ensure the user is not easily disarmed. Though heavier and bulkier than most punch daggers the same size, these katars are incredibly deadly in Saga's hands.

Elemental Affinity

Holy

Magic

Cure
Heals minor injuries of a single target

Flash
Causes a blinding light to appear for three seconds

Personality

Saga is a strong, dignified woman who respects others as much as they respect her. She values integrity, loyalty, and honor over all other things. Most people would say that they get along with Saga, and she is quite charitable to those who are in need, especially children. However, there is a certain ruthlessness to her that most people would rather not piss her off. An irate Saga is liable to break a man's neck, and her comrades may need to calm her down.

Concerning her comrades, they know her as the person that will always be there for them, almost like a scolding mother. She would gladly drag their downed form to safety in the middle of a fire fight and make sure they got medical care, but she'd make some nagging comments to them about their recklessness after the fact. Saga is quiet when it comes to her own problems though, preferring not to burden her friends with her own struggles. Nonetheless, it is apparent that Saga cares for them all, in her strange sort of way.

Though she seems like a bloodthirsty firebrand by appearance, Saga would rather defuse a situation through diplomacy, if it can be helped. She's seen enough bloodshed, after all. If there is no other option though, then she will certainly do what needs to be done.

History

Born to high-ranking members of Syfra, a rogue, guerrilla faction, Saga began life in the midst of a civil war, as Syfra vied for control over the small kingdom of Eviolis. Historically, Eviolis, an industrial powerhouse, had been controlled by the oppressive plutocracy known as Praemiosus, who's members were led by the Archminister and had full reign to do as they pleased with their citizens. People worked for meager wages, only to find themselves stripped of even that by exorbitant taxes. With the populace powerless, this system of abuse lasted for years until the rise of Syfra.

From a young age, Saga was taught to fight. Since ballistic weapons were hard to come by for the lowborn, most of her training came in the form of martial arts, subterfuge, and ingenuity. By the time she was 4, she was doing everything from making pipe bombs from scrap metal and nails to stealing weapons from Praemiosus. At age 10, the grueling, long civil war finally ended with the advent of Syfra, the execution of the Archminister, and the establishment of a true Democratic Socialist republic.

Many of the senior members of Syfra were given seats of power, Saga's parents included, and the task to rebuild the kingdom was suddenly at hand. The path was a difficult one as the oversights of the revolution came to fruition. For one, many of their leaders were uneducated and did not know how to run a country. Seeing this problem, children such as Saga were sent to other kingdoms to properly educate them so that the future leaders of Eviolis could better rectify the issues they could not. So, for 14 years, the girl studied basic education, political science, military arts, and economics in Algareth, paid for by the Praemiosus' stolen wealth.

Saga ended up being god awful at economics and other math based courses, but she was particularly skilled at political science. Diplomacy simply came natural to her. While it was easy to strike a man down, it was a greater accomplishment to be able to talk them out of it, a skill that she thought was absolutely priceless. When Saga graduated from her studies, she hoped to be able to use what she learned to further Eviolis' progress as a prosperous kingdom.

Unfortunately, when she returned to her homeland, it was once again locked in a civil war. Some of the former members of Syfra had gone mad with power and issued a military coup. All other members of the Eviolis' government were executed, including her parents. With nothing left here and hope lost for Eviolis' future, Saga left the kingdom as quickly as she came, returning to Algareth after a brief period of mourning for her lost family.

Trivia

  • Saga absolutely loves forensic crime shows and will watch her favorite (even reruns) any chance she gets.
  • She is a big fan of pasta, especially shrimp linguine.
  • Not many people know this, but she collects Summonerlord cards. Her favorite card is Endymion the Doomfire Magician.
  • Saga is an awful driver.

Mirany Crawford

23 // Female // 5'9"

Appearance: Mirany is a tall, lithe woman with good, but subtle, muscle tone. She has intense brown eyes and wavy brown hair that she normally keeps in a messy side braid. She is undeniably alluring, but downplays her looks in favor of emphasizing her physical prowess and focused mind. She wears no makeup or jewelry, but allows herself to let her hair down at times, particularly at night so she can sleep comfortably. When not dressed in the Kingsglaive standard uniform, she wears t-shirts and simple cotton-blend sweatpants in solid, dark colors like black, gray, and blue. She uses her extra clothing as both daywear and nightwear. She wears her bluetooth earpiece under her braid, to hide from the enemy that she is communicating with a team.

Weapon: Mirany does not have much in the way of brute strength, so she favors a long, wicked-sharp dagger made of a special silver-obsidian alloy. This alloy was created with the help of magic, since metals and glass cannot usually be made into an alloy together. Silver and obsidian were chosen for their light mass and incredible sharpness; a combination tailored for stealth and speed. The blade is about 10 inches long and entirely black. The handle is about 4 inches long and silver, so that if Mirany were to drop it, it could be seen easier in the dark. The crossguards, also black, are thin and flat, about 2 inches each. The pommel is black as well. Mirany keeps her blade in its black leather scabbard which is nearly always attached to her hip. The scabbard’s belt also has a small pouch attached in which she keeps her polishing supplies, and she diligently keeps the blade well-shined and cared for in any spare moments she has. She saved money for years to afford this custom-made blade, so it is very important to her.

Elemental Affinity: Water

Magic:
-Stream
-Shoots a concentrated stream of water at high pressure
-Mist
-Uses the moisture in the air to create a light fog in a small radius

Personality: Mirany prides herself on her independence, but is willing to work with a team, as long as they understand her skill set. She doesn’t like to mix business with pleasure, and when on the job, is focused and determined. She has a no-nonsense approach to her orders--she completes them efficiently and more or less to the letter. Despite her brusque and businesslike manner, she doesn’t lack a sense of humor. She prefers dry, deadpan sarcasm the most, but isn’t above cracking a smile at silliness or lewd jokes. Take her by surprise and you may just earn a genuine laugh from her--but don’t hold your breath. She doesn’t freeze when afraid; rather, she moves even more quickly and accurately, using the adrenaline to her advantage. But that doesn’t stop her blood from running cold when she’s in danger. She also has frequent nightmares that cause her to toss and turn and weep silently in her sleep. Mirany refuses to discuss the contents of these nightmares; in fact she pretends they don’t exist completely. She is intensely private, but not rude. If asked about her personal life, she simply gives a vague answer and politely turns the conversation. As a result, she has few friends and no lovers.

History: Mirany grew up in a poor, rural village called Palatta. Her parents, poor from the day they’d been born, died of sickness when she was seven years old. Alone and unable to fend for herself, she wound up joining a ring of child thieves led by an old, fat man known as Horus. Though he fed and clothed them well, Horus was little more than a slave driver, and trained the children to pickpocket with a whipping stick and the back of his hand. He always knew how and where to hit so as not to leave a mark--injured, malnourished children attracted attention. When Mirany turned fourteen, she noticed Horus looking at her in a different way. When he began to hint that he might have different employment for her now that she was “blossoming”, she knew she needed to skip town.

Palatta is situated between two small mountain ranges near the equator of Azalea. It was first established as a mining town, but the mines have long since been stripped bare of their jewelled fruits. Few travelling merchants still pass through, for the area surrounding the village is rocky, barren, and stark, one of the few bare spots on the planet. The one road passing through Palatta and between the mountains is navigable, but hard-going.

Mirany stole as much food and water as she could carry in her one knapsack and escaped into the night. She knew Horus would hate to lose such a promising prostitute and would be looking for her, so she opted to forgo the road in favor of the treacherous rocks parallel to it. She climbed her way around the mountains, using her sure, nimble fingers to support her light weight. She ran out of food and water two days before she reached the next village.

For the next seven years, she moved from town to town, city to city, stealing to provide for herself. She spent most of her free time reading in public libraries and practicing her own form of parkour to exercise.

Trivia: Mirany can bench-press about 130 lbs--a little over her own body weight. She is an excellent climber. She is skilled at sleight-of-hand and uses this talent to amuse children, with whom she is otherwise awkward. She only allows herself one bit of vanity--she always keeps her hair long. It is her favorite part of her appearance. Her name is pronounced “MEER-uh-knee”.

Cover job: She works as an electrician for the city. She climbs streetlights and scales buildings to repair broken lights and replace burnt-out ones. She enjoys the work because she supervises herself and can work in her own time.

Relationships

Nero: Mirany appreciates his switch in attitude when he’s on the job; it is the first thing about him that earned him her trust. He understands her tendency to communicate non-verbally. The two often greet each other with an elbow to the ribs or a slap on the back. She also likes to occasionally knock his cigarette out of his hand in an effort to get him to quit.

Blair: She treats Blair as the little sister she never had. Even though she’s only a couple of years older, Mirany feels protective of Blair and uses her own quiet, coaxing manner to get Blair to relax. They can fall into a perfectly comfortable silence when together. Mirany tries to be a calming influence on her when Blair is angry or frustrated.

Gideon: She tolerates him. Something about his arrogance rubs her the wrong way. She likes to say something sarcastic and cutting when he says something particularly self-important. Sometimes during their interactions, when she feels her eyes simply cannot roll back any further in her sockets, she simply gets up, walks away, and ignores him completely for a while. However, she admires his extraordinary skills, almost despite herself.

Saga: Mirany works well with Saga when on a mission, but keeps her distance as soon as the mission is over. She senses that Saga worries about Mirany’s nightmares, and Mirany does not want that discussion to happen. She has mixed feelings when Saga gives her occasional "post-fight" talks, as she appreciates the criticism, but not the scolding.

Dianthe: Dianthe's affinity for frilly clothing elicited a single raised eyebrow from Mirany when they first met, but Mirany soon learned there was more to the princess than frippery. She admires Dianthe's spunk, though she thinks the redhead could tone it down a bit in certain situations. Mirany often asks Dianthe's help with translations, but otherwise steers clear of the princess to avoid her uncanny internal lie-detector.

Appearance

Bearing an approachable smile while also carrying a relaxed presence where ever she goes, Dianthe is radiant young woman both in mind an body. Her style is often seen as reserved and fashionable. Black, grey, and neutral colors make up most of her attire while Dianthe prefers to wear skirts and dresses as opposed to pants and shorts. Porcelain skin, bright red hair, and tan freckles is the trademark look of a Fennian, and her light accent only makes it more obvious of her origins. Standing tall, Dianthe is light on her feet and carries a grace in her step thanks to years of etiquette training during her childhood. Small waisted with wide hips, her triangle shaped figure is curvy yet athletic as her combat style requires a specific kind of training. Dianthe's legs are long and evenly toned, and while concentrating more on her upper body and arms, intensive training has allowed her to push past her limits when it comes to endurance and cardio. With thin wrists and long slender fingers, Dianthe's seemingly fragile hands are capable of a vice like grip while weight lifting, upper body training, and physically extreme hobbies have granted her great strength and stamina.

Weapon

Capable of two forms, Ophian, is a five foot segmented broad sword that can collapse and separate into a fifteen foot whip. Hand crafting the trick weapon and adjusting it over the years, Dianthe has trained herself to use the complex tool with exact precision and proficiently. With great accuracy, and a dash of finesse in her technique, Ophian allow her to utilize both short and long range attacks at various and unsuspecting angles. With a durable cord made of flexible titanium alloy fibers, the blades of the tricks weapon are made from carbon steel sharpened to cut through most material and objects. Ophian's long length allows the weapon to be used as a grappling device while also extending Dianthe's reach.

Personality

The world, while beautiful and full of possibilities, is also full of ugliness and misfortune. While some live in luxury in the safety of privilege and wealth, others struggle to make it day by day. Not one person has lived through the same experiences, and with this thought in mind Dianthe has grown to live by the moral code of always staying optimstic. If not for herself, but for the people around her and in her life. In the sight of fear and misery, she strives to be the light at the end of the tunnel and the saving grace for those who are struggling and dealing with misfortune, and while one would call this a complex, Dianthe see's this as a duty. Born into a life of privilege and peace, her goal in life is to bring those around her the same happiness and comfort she was blessed to be raised in. Not necessarily a ray of sunshine, she prefers to stay positive and look at the optimistic side things no matter the situation. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is her life motto and with this mindset Dianthe has grown into the resilient, albeit stubborn woman that she is today.

Wearing her emotions on her sleeve, Dianthe is known for being quite the softy. While not overly emotional, it is easy for her to empathize with those around her. Putting others before herself more than often, this compassion is often seen as a target for manipulation but Dianthe has always had an eye for liars. With experience in tall tales thanks to her childhood, Dianthe can call out a lie with little hesitation, and due to her training with Flora's Royal Guard, she is more than capable of reading others by studying their physical actions and attire. Her gut instinct isn't anything to play around with either. Saving her own skin countless time thanks to quick reflexes and an on point instinct, Dianthe will put her own intuition above others and even authority if she gets a whiff of something fishy.

By no means is Dianthe shy. Unafraid to strike up a conversation with the unlikeliest of people, her charming disposition and approachable presence has always been quite the people pleaser, which has been more or a less a strength when it comes to her career. Despite her training with Royal Guard, Dianthe has retained her unending curiosity and passionate need for adventure. Confident in her decisions despite being prone to impulsive strategies and plans, she can be seen as reckless and at times even hazardous to her own health, however Dianthe would never put her friends or family in harms way. With nothing but good intentions and a worn smile on that she refuses to take off, Dianthe is willing to go through hell or take a bullet for the right reasons and people. This attitude has always caused conflict, but she would rather die a martyr than a coward.

History

Located just north of the equator, the small Kingdom of Flora exists on the mountainous continent of Fenn at the center of the Umora Ocean. Legend states that Flora began as a Temple for the great Idol, Titan. In his greatness he brought forth Mt. Ebon and raised it above the clouds before making the land of Fenn a maze of mountains and ridges to protect his chosen worshippers. Sitting on a plateau no more than a few hundred feet below the peak of Mt. Ebon, which also stands as Azalea's tallest mountain, Flora is a dense modernized city made up of towering white building and skyscrapers that stretch up the side of the mountain as a natural system of water flows down from the snowy peaks of Mt. Ebon and to the city below. As the capitol of Fenn, the royal family and Fenn's ruling Monarch, King Kyros Sarris, call Flora home. Travel by Airship is the only known way to access Flora, as the old tunnels within the mountain have long caved and crumbled away through time.

Called the "Kingdom Among the Clouds" by the rest of Azalea, Flora has celebrated centuries of peace and economic prosperity despite being overshadowed by the larger and much wealthier Kingdoms of Algareth and Ivalice. While thriving off of tourism thanks to it's tropical setting within the city and it's snowy mountainous region at the peak of Mt. Ebon, Flora is the leading distributor and manufacturer of crystal ammunition. Its close ties to Algareth have long helped the Kingdom prosper, and with the threat of war rising Flora has pledged an alliance with Algareth if conflict should ever occur.

As the only child of Prince Kyros, son and heir to the late King Abram Sarris, Dianthe was raised with great privilege and expectations. Like any royal she was put through etiquette training at a young age, and as the Princess of Flora she was to present herself with utmost grace and mannerism at all times. This lifestyle never seemed to sit well with Dianthe, however. As a child she never grasped the patience to take her etiquette training seriously, often tuning out her tutors and playing along only when being watched. In front of her father and grandfather Dianthe was seen as an well-mannered and respectable young girl, but away from watchful eyes, the little princess was crafty and adventurous. Often sneaking out of the castle when her father was away, Dianthe would take to the streets of Flora and explore the city on her own. It wasn't until her teenage years that Dianthe furthered her explorations to the peak of Mt. Ebon.

Having turned a blind eye to his daughters intrepid behavior for years, Kyros had become increasingly worried for his daughters safety as he learned of her travels up and down the mountain. Restricting her from leaving the castle walls without supervision, Dianthe was put into training with the Royal Guard in effort to teach her discipline and tame her impulsive behavior. While Kyros did this with good intentions, Dianthe had only grown distant from her father. It was in this time that the princess found comfort in her grandfather, King Abram. Old in age with a questionable bill of health, his worn state had made many concerned for his safety while parliament had already begun to question his clarity. It was more than visible that the Kings life would soon come to an end, but in her time spent with him Dianthe had denied seeing the exhaustion and pain in her grandfathers eyes. He told her stories of his travels to the great Kingdoms that lay outside of Fenn and across the great Umora Ocean, the many scandals that he had witnessed throughout his years in politics, and the often forgotten history of Azalea's great colonization that still stands as controversial today. He filled her head with great curiosity, and even within the confines of the castle, Dianthe's need for adventure only grew with time.

It was only a year later the great King Abram had peacefully passed away in his sleep. Flora was in mourning, and Dianthe was devastated. Prince Kyros ascended to the throne in no less than a week, and upon his crowning, he was now known amongst Azalea as King Kyros Sarris of Flora. With his new status came new responsibilities, and soon Dianthe saw little of her father. The castle had soon become a prison and with no one to turn to the young princess had pushed her grief aside and kept herself busy by training. Under the teachings of Flora's Royal Guard, Dianthe had become proficient with a sword and firearms. Into adulthood Dianthe had adapted her own style of combat, handcrafting her own weapon that she felt suited her best. As her combat skills and behavior matured overtime, her father was quick to see that his little princess was no long the impulsive and rebellious girl he had once known. It had saddened the King that his relationship he once had with his daughter had come to a halt long ago and upon realizing of the isolation he had caused her, Dianthe was finally granted the freedom she had long thought was out of reach.

It wasn't long that she left Flora, letting little word pass of her leave besides giving her father a farewell. She took on the alias of Dianthe Simril and in less than three years her travels had taken her through four different continents and hundred of cities and villages. Growing an appreciation for different cultures and a passion for aiding those in need and less fortunate throughout her vagabond days, Dianthe had decided to settle down in Algerath shortly after her 21st birthday with an interest in it's prestigious and revered university, Haven. Dianthe has called the Kingdom home for more than three years and has since found a job as at Algerath's Natural History Museum as the Senior Historian and Curator for Exhibits.
