I am just going to copy-paste everything from the interest check thread (you can find it here) to spare myself unnecessary typing.
Lord of the Rings RPG
Story:
The game takes place in the Third Age, during the War of the Ring, roughly at the same time the Fellowship set off from Rivendell. We will be playing another fellowship with a different task in the North, led by one of the long lost Blue Wizards (the GM, AKA me), suddenly come back from his wanderings with a warning of a great Black Númenórean sorcerer mustering his dark forces in secrecy in the far northern reaches, which could be fatal for to-be-king Aragorn if the Ring-Bearer fails. The party, blessed by Lady Galadriel who is glad to see another of Istari come back, must discover the sorcerer and destroy him, before it is too late.
I plan this to be a short game, since it's my first time being a GM here. Maybe later we'll have another adventure.
This will be a cold, wintery setting, as you can tell from the geographical location, with towers, caves, woods, orcs and beasts.
It is a casual game, so no dice rolling. You don't have to post big passages, one or two paragraphs should do. I made the CS a bit 'complicated' simply because I am feeling (shocker...) a bit nostalgic, but don't think about it too much, it's mostly there for the old-school aesthetics, although I will pay attention to your actions and items during the game.
GM: I am the only magic user in this game, since I believe that gives the party a cozy Gandalf feel.
*** Important: If I missed something, made mistakes or contradictions in this, please let me know so that I can fix them. Suggestions are encouraged, too! And if this doesn't work out the way I imagined it, we can always have a regular game with regular character creation system. Just let me know.
Races:
Human Specials: Doomed to die... ''That was a joke. Tolkien left men with free will, that's their special ability -- to make what they want of their destiny... Before they die. They're doomed to die fast, but that's why they thrive all the time. For example, an elf would prbably stay away from a sinister place of dark magic or most likely wouldn't go against any fair elven norm, so to say, because it's in their nature to cling to the pure; but a human would most likely go and explore that place or try to think outside the box.'' - copy pasted my post from the interest check thread.
Dwarf Specials: Smithing and crafting
Elf Specials: Night vision and far vision
Hobbit* Specials: Small and sneaky
Note: Dwarves and hobbits can only ride ponies. Dwarves and hobbits cannot be hunters. Dwarves cannot be rogues.
*Because I don't want to 'nerf' hobbits too much, all weapons will be smaller in scale for hobbits, so no worries when getting weapons and armour. :-)
Classes:
Fighter (Shieldmaiden if female and from Rohan) Armor: Any Weapons: Any Specials: None Restrictions: None Starts with: a backpack, a week's worth of rations, small tent, whetstone, bandage x 2.
Hunter Armor: Any Weapons: Anything, as long as it's not two-handed Specials: Animal taming, tracking, and scouting. Restrictions: You are not as good in close-range combat. Starts with: A human/elvish bow and quiver, a small tent, a backpack, a tinder box.

Another post of mine from the interest check: ''Also, It's up to you to describe your character's appearance. Armour items I listed are not the only things you'd wear. You have to wear something under it and/or above it. As I've said, the CS is more of a nostalgic touch for me, you can be creative while making a character, although I will pay attention to the item choice during the game. You can bring fur office you wish, of course. But if you forget any type of armour you'll have a bad time when shit hits the fan.
P.S. It's not like it's a north pole setting. It's, imagine, like the surrounding area od Winterfell in the first season of Game of Thrones with some snow falling now and then. It's the area where Dunedain rangers scout and all that. For the beginning, that is. Later it will be super cold and fur will come into play.''
So I am super interested, but I want to ask what kind of update schedule you are looking for? I don't mean I'll disappear for a week at a time for anything, but life happens, and I wouldn't want to hold you guys up. Otherwise, holy cow, I love the detail you've gone to!
@millificent228Nothing too strict. I understand everyone has more important things in their lives, so it won't be a problem if you don't post all the time as long as you let us know beforehand if you're planning on taking a break, so that we know what to do with your character.
Maybe a paragraph or two once a day, or every two days, if you can manage?
Aelin stands at 186 centimeters and weighs 72 kilograms. He has a slim body build and strong facial features, with dark brown eyes and light brown hair that flows freely and fabulously on his back. (Image tba)
Class: Bard
Equipment:
A black cloak, elvish leather armor, a blanket, a mirror, a tinder box, a bottle of oil, a lantern, two knives, a kantele, a pen, five sheats of paper, three empty scrolls, two flasks of wine, a back pack, a large sack and his fabulous, white horse companion named Valko.
Background story:
Aelin was born to a shoemaker's family in a small village in western Mirkwood. He never had many friends as a child, and preferred to spend his time wandering in the forest. When the elf reached adulthood, he left his home and begun traveling further, living the free life he had always dreamed about. He fed himself with mushrooms, fruits and herbs and stopped to rest and exchange stories in towns and settlements from time to time. On one of his travels Aelin managed to save an old man from being eaten by trolls. The man revealed to be a traveling musician, and as a reward he gave the elf his most precious item, his instrument. Aelin had never seen anything like it before, and the sound it made was almost magical. It took the elf a long time to master the kantele, but after years of practise he got very good with it, even composing a few songs of his own. He kept living his life as before, only now he had something to play by his campfire at night or in front of an audience in taverns. Aelin used the little money he gained from performing to buy himself a horse, which allowed him to travel even faster and further. It also became the elf's most trusted companion and best friend.
Still planning on a character, just got held up with end of the school year and all. Should have her ready tomorrow. Probably going to be an elf hunter now.
Here's my character. I don't know too much about Lord of the Rings lore beyond the movies, so apologies if I screwed anything up. Tried to keep it basic. Anyway, hope you like her, and let me know if I need to change anything.
Name: Calariel Age: 174 Sex: Female Race: Elf
Appearance:(Reference Image) Calariel is of average height, with a slim, lithe build. Her most notable facial feature is her eyes, which are a milky pink color. Her face is youthful and feminine, her long hair a shade of auburn that runs to the middle of her back.
Class: Hunter Equipment: Elvish bow and full quiver, dagger, elvish mail and leather armor, small brown cloak, a small tent, backpack, tinder box, week's rations, blanket, bandage x3, lock pick.
Background: Calariel was born in Rivendell, and from her birth she's been forced to deal with a rather unique and mysterious defect with her eyes. They've always had their milky pink color, and while she isn't blind, her sight is severely reduced up close, rendering everything near her extremely blurry, impossible to make out. Conversely, her farsight is even greater than most elves. Calariel can see things at a distance with excellent clarity and focus. If it's within her line of sight, no distance is too great for her to see.
Her poor sight negatively impacted her social development while growing up, and as a result Calariel is very quiet and shy, or at least uncertain of her communication skills. She grew to love the wilderness around Rivendell and came to serve as a scout and outrider, where her long-distance observation could be of use. Over time, she came to rely on other senses up close, specifically her hearing and smell. They don't make up for her poor sight, but they at least enable her to function. And her skill in archery is among the best of the elves.
Some of her elders think Calariel is just young and brash, but she still hopes to make a difference in the world, rather than recede from it, as the elves seem to be doing.
