Some very important things to know!

• This RP will be a spin off of Miraculous Ladybug, and will have OC's only. You may mention the other superheroes, but no cannon characters will make appearances.
• This RP will be mid-high casual, with character development, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation being a must. There will be a 1,500 character minimum per post, with no maximum limit. If you don't think you can write 1,500 characters each post, then this RP is not for you.
• As of writing, there are 5 spots open for players. @Fusby, @RokkuHoshi, and myself will be the GMs, so please treat us respectfully. Note, this is not a first come, first served situation. Fusby, RokkuHoshi and I will go over the characters submitted, and will select the 5 best candidates from those who apply. Character personalities, biographies, powers, strengths, and weaknesses will be a huge factor in the selection process. We are looking for balanced characters who fit the happy atmosphere of the show.
• This will not be a dark RP. I'm making this warning right off the bat. If your character backstory has material that would be inappropriate on the show, you will find it will be inappropriate here. Characters whose backstory involves excessive darkness such as murder, rape, disfiguration, brutality, gore, substance abuse, physical and sexual abuse, torture, insanity, imprisonment, orphanages, and cults will find their chances of acceptance to be extremely low. That does not mean your character has to be perpetually happy, or come from a perfect home. But there are better ways to make character conflict and development than using the easy-tragedy route.
• Similarly, the Miraculous Stones are not all powerful. You can find a more detailed description of the powers and limiters of the stones in Suit Rules, but please do not make your character overly powerful, wise, and all-knowing. Particularly at the beginning, when characters are just receiving their Miraculouses. If we feel your character is too powerful, we will ask you to tone them down.
• Romance between the characters is allowed. Depending on whether or not your GMs are shipper trash (I am), it may even be encouraged. However, let's keep things PG-13 in the thread. If you want to go further, please take it into PMs.
• Each accepted player can have one main character, and various side and static characters. However, side characters cannot have powers, and cannot know the identity of the main character. (Unless you make a really, really convincing argument for it.) Players can choose to reveal their identities to each other if they wish, but you cannot go around and learn the identities of the other characters without their permission. Likewise, your Kwami will not tell you anything about the other characters, their identities, or their powers. Their little fairy lips are sealed.

That is all for things you need to know! If you are new to the concept of Miraculous Ladybug, please read The Nutshell and Suit Rules. If you are familiar with Miraculous Ladybug, you should still read Suit Rules. There are goodies hidden inside of it, so don't think you can get away without reading it.

The Nutshell

Alright, so you don't know anything about Miraculous Ladybug. Luckily for you, this RP is in a new city, on a new continent, with a new cast of characters and a new plot, so you'll catch on pretty quick. If you would like to, it is encouraged you watch Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir, but if you're busy, hate tv, or just hate superheroes (wait, why are you here then?), then you can read this nutshell and get up to speed!
Q: What are Miraculous Stones?
A:

The Miraculous Stones are magical charms that imbue the wearer with fantastical powers. The charm also comes with a small fairy called a Kwami. The Miraculous Stones are typically kept in the possession of the Guardian, or are lost throughout history. The Miraculous Stones are indestructible and take the form of various accessories. In order to transform into a superhero, the stones must be worn by the chosen hero at all time. If the user loses their Miraculous, then they will lose their powers until they have recovered their Miraculous again.
Q: What is a Kwami?
A:
Kwami are the fairies that reside within the Miraculous Stones. Kwami are small, delicate, and can pass through solid objects at will. They are seemingly immortal, over 5,000 years old, and are passed down through history with their Miraculous. Kwami all have different personalities and can be helpful or troublesome. Tikki, the Ladybug Kwami, is very cheery, helpful, friendly, and wise, though she isn't above scolding her hero when they make a bad decision. Plagg, the Cat Kwami, on the other hand, is lazy, sarcastic, gluttonous, self-absorbed and aloof, and tends to get both himself and his hero into trouble. All Kwamis, however, want the best for their chosen heroes, and try to guide them down the path of good. Thus when someone uses their Miraculous for evil, it is without the willing aid of their Kwami.
Q: What is a Guardian?
A:
A really, really old guy. Okay, more than that. The Guardian is the one in possession of the Miraculous Stones, and he selects the candidates for who the next miraculous holder will be. Kindness, bravery, selflessness, and compassion are all things that the Guardian looks for when choosing the next wielders of the Miraculous Stones, and if there's ever someone who doesn't fit that profile, it's likely that they either weren't given the Miraculous, or that they have since "grown out" of their better aspects.(Looking at you, Hawkmoth and Vesper) The Guardian pictured here is Master Fu, but don't worry. In this role-play we'll have a new guardian for our new miraculous users, so you don't need to get attached to him, awesome though he is.
Q: How do our heroes transform and detransform?

Like that. Very sailor moon-esque, I am aware, but rest assured, your character doesn't have to do a little dance or anything through the transformation. The transformation itself actually happens very quickly, within the span of a second, and covers the person with a magical suit. You can see the details of the suit in Suit Rules, and you may design your own suit as well. The de-transformation works in the same way, only in reverse. The Kwami are sucked into the Miraculous Stones during transformation, and can't be communicated with until that hero releases the transformation. After one de-transforms, their Kwami will be very tired and will need to eat and rest for a while before that person can transform again. In addition, once a hero uses their main power, they only have 5 minutes left before they de-transform.
Q: So, who are the bad guys? What's an Akuma?
A:
An Akuma is a small butterfly encased by shadows. It seeks out those who have darkness in their hearts, possesses them by inhabiting an item close to them, such as a whistle, a hair clip, an umbrella, or a necklace, and transforms that person into a villain. The dark influence controls the possessed person, transforming them into a darker, meaner, more vengeful version of themselves. Vesper uses a method similar to this, though he uses sound waves and not butterflies. In order to free the person from the grip of darkness, the heroes will have to purify the darkness in their hearts, to remove the power of Discord.

Suit Rules

So, if you've seen Miraculous Ladybug, you should know that the most powerful part of the superheroes are their suits. Here, in Suit Rules, you'll get to know exactly how we GMs are interpreting those aspects, and how you can create your powers.

• The suits give the characters increased strength, speed, stamina, flexibility, and endurance.
• The suits are indestructible and cannot be torn, cut, removed, or damaged in any way. That means that a person cannot be unmasked unless their Miraculous is removed, or they de-transform.
• Each suit comes with a tool that can be used as a communicator, and has powers of it's own. Ladybug's purifying Yo-yo, Chat Noir's infinitely extendable staff, Volpina's baton-flute thingy are examples of this.
• Each suit also comes with a main or active power, and several minor or passive powers.
  - An Active power is one that the user can summon, but will drain their transformation time. Ladybug's Lucky Charm, which allows her to conjure a random object, and Chat Noir's Cataclysm, which allows him to destroy whatever he touches, are examples of an active power. An active power has to have it's name called out prior to being used, and can only be used once per transformation.
  - A Passive power is one of the minor powers that comes on its own with the suit. They are not used for combat in instead enhance the user's abilities. Chat Noir's night vision and enhanced senses of hearing and smell, or a bird user's ability to fly, a turtle user's ability to breath underwater are all examples of passive powers. Passive powers do not have to be activated like Active powers, and do not have a limit on how many times they can be used. They end however, when the transformation wears off. So you can't fly ALL the time, if you're a bird.
• Because our setting is in the New World, the animals your miraculous is based on must come from North America. In addition, you cannot have the same animal as another person. That includes a group of animals. If someone else has a brown bear, you may now have a polar bear. If someone else has a raven, you may not have a crow. Water creatures and fish are not to be used, they're just too difficult. Your animals can be birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects/arachnids, and flying/terrestrial mammals. Also, to avoid overlap with the original Miraculous stones, you cannot have a ladybug, a bee, a river turtle, a fox, a house cat, a peacock, or a butterfly/moth as your animal. To add onto that list, the animals eagle and bat have been claimed.
• You may design, control, and name your Kwami. The only requirements are that your Kwami must resemble your animal slightly, they must have a favorite food, they cannot know/tell the identities or powers of the other heroes, and they must have a double letter somewhere in their name. Tikki, Plagg, Nooroo, Wayzz, all have double letters in their names. Also, try to avoid their names being human names. I don't want to see any Kwamis named Joe or Kyle or Christina.
• To show that you have read these rules, please tell me your favorite vegetable when you show your interest. If you hate vegetables, then give me your favorite fruit. If you hate both, please grow up and eat something healthy oh my god.

Name: Edvvard "Eddie" Erickson
Age: 14
Appearance: Eddie is tall for his age, standing 5'11", with a slim, lanky build. His hair is mid-back length, blond and always kept in a ponytail. He has heterochromia iridum, giving him a green left eye and blue right eye. He wears a white ball cap, a white t-shirt, a brown vest, a pair of dark khaki cargo pants and brown skate shoes with gold designs.
Backstory: Eddie grew up in a middle-class family. They had enough to get by for food, a great house, a few luxuries (such as wi-fi and cable, as well as his own phone) and 3 older sisters. With his dad always working overseas and his mom working late at the office, his sisters practically raised him, which is why he has "feminine" aspects in his personality.
Personality: Eddie has often been called a "sissy-boy" and a wimp because of how "feminine" he is compared to other males his age. Despite this, he has many friends. Whenever he gets bullied, he ignores them, choosing to talk to his friends instead. Unless the bullies get physical. Then he screams "fire!" at the top of his lungs, getting the attention of everyone around him.

Hero-
Name: Talon
Appearance: As Talon, Eddie's hair turns white at the top of his head and brown near the bottom. His mask is white, covering his forehead, temples, upper cheeks and nose, tapering off into a beak. The front of his torso is covered in white cloth with a feather-like design, with the rest of his torso and his thighs covered in a brown, feather-like material. His arms are covered by cloth "wings" that allow for gliding. From his knees down, his costume is golden-yellow with 3 claws on each boot, 2 in the front and 1 in the back.
Miraculous: A bracelet on his right wrist that appears to be a tiny, metal eagle wing held on by a leather strip.
Powers:
Active: Eagle Charm - Using this, Talon is able to pull a pillar or a wall from the ground, allowing for a barricade to hide behind.
Passive: Flight, Enhanced Sight, Agility, Acrobatics, Aerial Maneuvers, Strong Aura (Nearby allies feel stronger), and Camouflage Sight (no camouflaged or invisible enemies can hide from him).
Weapon: A pair of tonfas. Both of them have a part on the top that can slide open like Chat Noir's staff to allow for a video-phone like application.

Kwami-
Name: Beek
Appearance: Beek appears as a baby eagle, except his extremely tiny body and large head. His head and shoulders are white, his feet are gold, and the rest of him his brown. He has 3 antenna that stick out from the top of his head, spreading like a fan. Instead of arms, he has wings with tiny hands at the ends.
Personality: Beek is lazy, tired and doesn't like to do anything but sleep. If you catch him awake, he'll answer your questions honestly, though often with a lot of yawns. He'll wake up every time just before his hero needs to transform.
Favorite Food: Cadbury Cream Eggs.

Washington DC! It's high population, but relatively low-crime, and is very clean with multiple historic monuments. It feels like Europe in america with all the beautiful architecture. Who doesn't want to hang out in spandex on top of a pretty building?

And if you're worried about skyscrapers, worry no more! The nearby city of Arlington, just across the river, has plenty of sky scrapers.

Name: Thomas "Tommy" Oliver
Age: 16
Appearance:

This but black hair

Backstory: Tommy comes from a broken home. His father had gotten kicked out the Piscataway tribe before he was born, meaning Tommy doesn't have the help of the tribe. His mother, being a rich business woman, has bought him many things, though his father usually turns around and sells it to try to pay the bills. Because of this, Tommy doesn't get along with his deadbeat father. His father does own a small shop that sells natural remedies but, because very few people visit it, he doesn't make much money. Despite his irascible pique on his father selling the gifts from his mother, Tommy is rather fond of the little shop, doing what he can to bring in more customers. On the rare occasion he sees his mother, He becomes withdrawn. He doesn't blame her for leaving him behind, knowing it would've been harder with both his brothers there as well. Despite trying to help them behave and be less of a hassle on their mom, his younger brothers have never liked him. He's a 1st degree Purple belt in Karate, thanks to his mom paying for his classes.
Personality: Tommy is easily classified as a gentle giant. He cares for others, though isn't afraid to fight if he needs to. He's stern and stubborn but will put the well being of others before himself. He despises bullies, though tries to help the kids being bullied stand up for themselves instead of stopping the bully himself, unless things get physical. While he doesn't like to hurt others, he can and will if he thinks they will learn from it. He's also very philosophical. As himself, he can't talk to girls without mumbling and acting awkward. Many accidents happen around him, causing him to be a bit jumpy. He can also be very headstrong and reckless. Despite being a good tactician and strategist, Tommy has a hard time admitting he's a leader type. He loves to spend some of his free time cooking or drawing.

Hero-
Name: Silver Fang
Appearance: His suit is a lot like Chat Noir's, complete with wolf ears, with the addition of fur between his wrists and elbows as well as from his knees to his ankles. On the front of each boot, he has 3 claws. His wristband sits on his right wrist.
Miraculous: A black, leather band with a white stone carved to look like a wolf head.
Powers:
Active: Falling Stars - Weakens evil and strengthens allies as well as heals all physical injuries of anyone touched by the drops.
Passive: Strength, Speed, Night Vision, Enhanced Hearing, Enhanced Smelling, Alpha Mentality (He has the feel of a good leader.),
Weapon: Chains with wolf heads on the ends.

Kwami-
Name: Marrok
Appearance: Marrok looks like a tiny wolf with a giant head. He has 3 tails that are constantly moving. He has a pair of small antennae coming off his ears.
Personality: Marrok is more mature and understanding of everyone. However, he won't give you an easy answer, preferring you to figure it out on your own. He likes when people overcome obstacles and, against his better judgement, has challenged his heroes too hard before, allowing him to learn for the next one. He is also one of the few Kwami that can deny transformation, though doesn't do this often.
Favorite Food: Jerky of any flavor.

Name: Corrine Jiang-Smith
Age: 15

Appearance: Corrine is a pale skinned, slender young lady. She has painted red lips, and a pink tint to her cheeks, ears and nose. She has full lashes framing deep brown eyes. Her hair is black and groomed into a sleek bob that reaches just below her chin. In civilian form, a section of her hair is secured behind her head with a ribbon. She always wears fashion-forward clothes, including a pair of miniature raccoon tail earrings, and often wears sunglasses because of her sensitivity to light.

Backstory: Corrine was born to the Jiang-Smith family, an upper-middle class family living in Washington, as the and only daughter. She has 2 brothers, an elder and a younger. Her mother was born in Beijing, China, to a poor family. Her father, Alexander Smith, head partner of a successful law firm, was travelling there, when they met each other by chance. The two became immediately smitten with each other. A few months later, they were married with a son on the way, so when Alexander asked her to move back to Washington with him she accepted.

Due to her father being held in high regard because of his status, Corrine was exposed to the public and press from a young age. She soon learned that there were high expectations of her, from inside her home and out. Her mother wanted her daughter to have as good of a life as possible, while her father wanted her to be prepared for the world. She was placed under strict rules of how to act, speak, and hold herself so as to ensure their daughters successful life. Corrine understands that they are trying to do good by her, even if they don't realise how isolated it makes her feel. She was taught by her mother how to be a proper lady, and was told at a young age that you should hide your weaknesses so that they cannot be used against you.

Her mother constantly coddling her and her father too busy running his firm and raising her brothers, Corrine felt all around dissatisfied with her current situation. All she wanted to be able to do was to choose for herself, to make her own mistakes instead of having her life chosen for her.

Personality: When in her civilian form, she has a reserverved, almost cold air about her. She has a level head and calm demeanor. She is mostly polite, but a little blunt, and is naturally a bit awkward, to her mother’s dismay. Pretty klutzy, constantly bumps into things, but doesn’t seem to mind. She is usually quiet person, and is very shy. She seems scary, but if you manage to befriend her and charm her parents enough for them to let you associate with her, she’s very sweet and funny person. As Nocturne, she is upbeat, charming, and generally a huge dork who’ll befriend just about anyone, including rocks.

Corrine has achromatopsia, which causes her to be completely color blind. She sees the world in different shades of gray, black, and white. This also causes her to have decreased vision, which is mostly the reason for her clumsiness, as well as a sensitivity to light. She always carries around a pair of sunglasses, sometimes even wearing them indoors.

Hero-
Name: Nocturne

Appearance: As Nocturne, her sleek hair becomes windswept and slightly curly. Her suit is themed to resemble a raccoon, with a gray, black and white colour scheme. The suit itself is a smokey grey, with a lighter grey oval in the middle of her stomach and chest. She has black thigh high boots, black gloves that reach to her elbows with slight claws on the end, a black stripe around her neck. Tied around her waist is a long scarf like cloth with a striped pattern. She has a black bask, and a headband with raccoon ears, and two white ribbons tied to either side of the headband.

Miraculous: Her miraculous is a pair of raccoon tail earrings, each with a small gem at the top. After she activates her main power, her miraculous starts chirping and the 5 stripes start disappearing according to how much time she has left.

Powers:
Active power: Absolute Access- This gives her the power to open anything, no matter how complex the lock. This includes anything that can be sealed (doors, chests, etc). Also includes electronic locks. After she uses this once her countdown begins.

Inactive powers:
Touch- Corrine’s sense of touch is incredible. She is able to ‘see’ objects by touching them, and doesn’t even need to see to be able to navigate. This is helpful to her, especially with her poor eyesight.
Night vision- Corrine is able to see in the dark, making it easy to maneuver in what others would consider pitch black.
Climbing- Thanks to the small claws on her cloves and the bottom of her boots, she is able to climb without the need for hand and footholds.
Anti-camouflage: Thanks to her color blindness, she is easily able to pick out camouflaged enemies.
Stealth: She is able to sneak around easier, without making as much noises. This is helpful if there is a need to remain unnoticed. Doesn’t really help much with people with enhanced senses, but is useful for sneaking out of the house.

Weapon: A whip which, like Chat Noir’s, can infinitely extend and retract, and can be used to grab onto objects and people if necessary. The handle has a compartment which can be opened to reveal the communication device.

Kwami-
Name: Priix
Appearance: Priix looks like a very small raccoon, small enough to fit into the palm your hand. Their head makes up about half of their body. They have two antennas, one on each cheek.
Personality: Priix is a very cheerful, if not mischievous little kwami. They are very playful, and are easily distracted. They love to play little pranks on Corrine, and often is one of the main causes of Corrine getting into mischief. The two get along well, and Priix is often a comforting figure for Corrine. Priix wishes to eventually be able to help the shy girl be able to show her real personality more outside of Nocturne.
Favorite Food: Apricots!

Aaron Meyer/Skleros

Name: Aaron Meyer
Age: 15

Appearance

Appearance:

6 feet tall, slightly muscular. Perpetually grazed knees and a permanent scar above his right eyebrow from when he fell out a tree. Multiple little scars on his arms and legs. Callused hands. Currently has his fractured left wrist in a cast. Hair is perpetually upright, until he becomes Skleros.

Backstory:
Raised in the inner suburbs of Chicago, Aaron was always getting into all sorts of trouble. Whether he was riding his bike into the bay or jumping from the garage roof and onto the trampoline “for science”, injuries and sheepishly delivered excuses were commonplace from the young boy. Aaron’s desire for knowledge had him try different hobbies such as fishing, knitting, guitar, and countless others. His fathers were wealthy enough to support whatever hobby he’d have at the time and cover whatever medical expenses that would arise from Aaron’s adventures.
At the age of 14, Aaron was diagnosed with dyslexia. It took a while for adults to notice because of his personality; they’d assumed that he was putting off homework so that he could spend more time on whatever occupied his interest at the time. He was the class clown, people didn’t pay attention to his grades. He preferred not to talk about it to anyone.
Recently, Aaron and his family has moved to Washington DC due to work. Aaron is eager to explore this new area and discover more about his Miraculous powers.

Personality:
Aaron is an excitable young man that follows whatever manages to capture his curiosity for the time being. Joyful and friendly, with a smile as blinding as a spotlight, it’s common for people to be either put off or attracted to his boisterous demeanour.
Aaron is affable and polite at first meetings but struggles to create meaningful relationships with potential friends. His loyalty is difficult to earn. Aaron doesn’t like opening up, and the people he’s met so far are fine with just the optimistic surface of his personality. Despite himself, Aaron is insecure about his intelligence, due to his dyslexia.
A by-product of Aaron’s curiosity is that he has a bit of a daredevil streak in him, which leads to quite a few injuries such as his currently fractured left wrist.

Hero-
Name: Skleros (Greek for “hard”)
Appearance: A brown and grey suit. The front side of the suit is grey while the back is brown. Most of his back is covered with armor plates that are a different shade of brown with silver highlights. The suit has a silver belt with a buckle in the shape of an armadillo head. For a mask, Skleros has a brown visor that obscures his eyes. The visor has little ears on the side as ornaments. As Skleros, Aaron’s usually vertical hair is slicked back.

Miraculous: A ketoh (Navajo bracelet). The ketoh is a leather strap adorned with an ornamented silver slate with the Armadillo Miraculous in the centre. The Miraculous has scale pattern that eventually loses parts of the pattern as time gets depleted.
Powers:
Active Power: Armor Up – The plates on Skleros’ suit grow to completely cover him. In this form, Skleros has enhanced durability and strength and grows to twice his height, making him the undeniable tank of the team. This transformation doesn't last long though.
Passive Powers: Seismic sense, heightened danger instincts, improved water mobility (holding breath/buoyancy), keen sense of smell, indestructible back armour, gauntlet claws are durable enough for climbing or digging (think Black Panther claws from the new Captain America movie)
Weapon: A pair of bulky gauntlets made up of armadillo-like plates. Roughly the shape and size of boxing gloves. Has slight protrusions from the knuckles to assist with digging or climbing.

Kwami-
Name: Arrlo
Appearance: A small grey humanoid with a large head. Has a small snout and a single plate on the top of his head that goes halfway down the snout and slightly obscures his purple eyes. Has normal feet but little claws instead of hands. There are a few brown armadillo plates on his back.
Personality: A nervous but intelligent individual that prefers to take time analysing a situation before jumping in (complete opposite of Aaron). Speaks in a very formal manner and is always willing to help, so long as you don’t put him in too much danger.
Favorite Food: Popcorn

Aaron Meyer/Skleros

Normal-
Name: Aaron Meyer
Age: 15

Appearance

Appearance:

6 feet tall, slightly muscular. Perpetually grazed knees and a permanent scar above his right eyebrow from when he fell out a tree. Multiple little scars on his arms and legs. Callused hands. Currently has his fractured left wrist in a cast. Hair is perpetually upright, until he becomes Skleros.

Backstory:
Raised in the inner suburbs of Chicago, Aaron was always getting into all sorts of trouble. Whether he was riding his bike into the bay or jumping from the garage roof and onto the trampoline “for science”, injuries and sheepishly delivered excuses were commonplace from the young boy. Aaron’s desire for knowledge had him try different hobbies such as fishing, knitting, guitar, and countless others. His fathers were wealthy enough to support whatever hobby he’d have at the time and cover whatever medical expenses that would arise from Aaron’s adventures.
At the age of 14, Aaron was diagnosed with dyslexia. It took a while for adults to notice because of his personality; they’d assumed that he was putting off homework so that he could spend more time on whatever occupied his interest at the time. He was the class clown, people didn’t pay attention to his grades. He preferred not to talk about it to anyone.
Recently, Aaron and his family has moved to Washington DC due to work. Aaron is eager to explore this new area and discover more about his Miraculous powers.

Personality:
Aaron is an excitable young man that follows whatever manages to capture his curiosity for the time being. Joyful and friendly, with a smile as blinding as a spotlight, it’s common for people to be either put off or attracted to his boisterous demeanour.
Aaron is affable and polite at first meetings but struggles to create meaningful relationships with potential friends. His loyalty is difficult to earn. Aaron doesn’t like opening up, and the people he’s met so far are fine with just the optimistic surface of his personality. Despite himself, Aaron is insecure about his intelligence, due to his dyslexia.
A by-product of Aaron’s curiosity is that he has a bit of a daredevil streak in him, which leads to quite a few injuries such as his currently fractured left wrist.

@banjoanjo Very nice! I don't see any problems with it, it doesn't seem very much like Corrine's at all. Corrine's powers seem mostly stealth and anti-stealth based, while Aaron's seem mostly defensive. But if there are parts you'd like to change, feel free!
