[OOC] Run away supernatural

In a new age with new inventions, people do not question where or how these inventions come about just if they work or not. The harsh reality reveals that scientists have discovered supernaturals exist and with a bit of 'experimentation' they can use what makes them special to create inventions. Supernaturals are now hiding, trying to blend in with society so as to live. Some however, the darker side of the supernatural, have gone to helping the scientists.
For some, the idea of hiding and not fighting scrapes at them. Why are they lesser then anyone else?

Alright so with this you can be a human, human scientist, or supernatural on one of the three sides.

Inventions:
-anti aging products that actually work (unicorn horn+siren blood)
-dust that cleans for you (fairy dust+witch blood)
-makeup that has a high shine and lasts all day (fairy wing)
-costumes in a bottle (shapeshifter blood+bone)
-guns that shoot lightning (lightning dragon scales+heart)(only given to law enforcement)
-a coating that is better then glue (water dragon scales+mermaid blood)
-fur that never looses luster, it's almost life like (skinned alive werewolf fur+fairy wing+angel feather)

No flying cars but that is the gist. Think of it as the scientists starting small, getting people used to the products, then they get into bigger things like flying cars.

Rules:
-nothing too over powered. Yes you can be powerful, but you must be able to be hurt
-No killing another's character without talking to the owner of said character
-No controlling another's character without asking
-we all make mistakes, so if something looks or sounds incorrect pointing it out politely is okay. If a decision cannot be reached, gm has final say.
-Do not leave anyone stuck. If you are going to vanish for a long period of time let us know.
-If you have not been heard from for a week the rp will continue without you

Rules

1. Don't be a jerk. Criticism is fine; swearing and other forms of offensiveness is not.
1a. People aren't going to like each other, that is natural. Bullying is not natural, and certainly not allowed. You have up to 2 responses each to each other when an argument is starting before you have to take the argument to PM. Should it escalate, be the better person and step away. If the other person doesn't seem to realize it's an argument, don't act like it's not one, tell them in PM that you feel it is. Otherwise, ask a GM to step in and sort things out.

2. If you don't agree with someone or something, go ahead and tell them. Keep it civil and polite, then they won't be upset (If they read rules 1. and 1a.). They might even appreciate the criticism. If you can't agree on a topic, then get a GM involved to sort things out. GM's have the last word. If you can't agree with the decision then take it to PM, taking up pages with arguments will NOT be tolerated.

3. Keep the characters at some level of logic.
3a. You will have to train to get better at something be it; Swordplay, Powers, Fighting in general. You don't just go to sleep one day, then wake up the next with unimaginable powers. Use logic here.


4. Keep in mind that once you join, every character is property of you and the rp. Meaning if you get Kicked, Banned, Leave, or just up and disappear then your character belongs to the GM(s). Not that we particularly want your character... but we need to keep things moving and avoid the RP dying because you disappear. You're more than welcome to pick them back up if you come back (and they're not dead. Also only if you're allowed back.)

5. Multiple characters/NPC creation is allowed, but only if the GM(s) think you can handle Multiple characters/NPCs. (See rule 3 for an idea of what we will be looking at).

6. The focus of this RP will be on the story, character development, and fun. Meaning that we are not focused on Killing, Raping, or else murdering other people. Therefore, permission must be obtained from the person controlling a character to kill their character. The other way around is to ask the Head GM to agree to the action to kill said character.

7 Keep it PG-17 here. Meaning not too much gore and keep those adult themes to a minimum. Your private stuff... fade to black here. If you want to continue, then take it to PM.

8 Respect your GM's, we are trying to keep everything fun for all of you. Even if you don't like us, please be respectful. Disrespectful people towards the GMs (i.e. being openly rude, ignoring their ruling, etc.) will be shown no mercy. Same can be said if you are found to be rude towards your fellow RP'ers.

9. Please don't go off and do something rash without first asking a GM. Such as running away and becoming evil, otherwise you might cause that character's death very quickly. Something that we would all wish to avoid, no? If you want to do something major/make an enemy, go message the head GM. He can and will be happy to help him, just know that it may be a while before you get to start being a big baddie.

10. NO GOD MODDING!- If you need to move someone ask first otherwise you can not take over the functions of another's charachter in any way.

Special note on turn coats: two are allowed at the start of the rp (1/2 spots taken)
Special note on special scientists: (aka the ones who started the mess) I will allow 2-3 in addition to the head scientist (1/2-3 taken)

Age: Is 102 years old but looks like she is 25 or 26

Type: Supernatural being

Affiliaton: She is a supernatural in hiding.

Appearance:

Willa

Personality: Willa is a kind hearted person who doesn't like to be in the limelight. She loves humans and she is not sure if she is one of them or not. She was scared of her powers when she found out about them. Soon she realized that she could help people with them so she does so quietly. She doesn't want to be found out by anyone, she is afraid the government agencies would slice and dice her like a social experiment.

History: Willa grew up in Ireland. Her parents had adopted her and lived simple lives. She grew up watching her parents doing the same stuff every day. Willa had no idea that she had powers until she went away to college in the United States. By that time she had realized that she was a little stronger than most women her size. She did not realize she was stronger than everyone else until her friend was working under a car and she heard the jack holding the car snapped. Her friend was being crushed and she lifted the car easily. All of the bystanders assumed it was from the adrenalyn rush.

After that experience she found that she could take things apart and rebuild them with her mind. She found that when she was reading directions on how to put something technical together her mind was making it happen. This made some of her classes easier if the did her main work at home. She still tried to learn it the way they wanted her to but after a while she changed her course load to reflect her talent in technopathy she just had to be careful not to get caught.

Abilities: Technopathy is the ability to control and manipulate electronics with the mind. Super Strength, Willa is capable of lifting 40 tons (80,000 pounds). Willa can turn herself and anything she is touching invisible (clothing, shoes or people/animals)

Weakness/weaknesses: Willa is afraid of being experimented on. Her body is basically human. She can be hurt just like anyone else can. She is afraid of being burned alive. Willa is worried that she would be tortured like the witches were in Salem. She also hates snakes, they give her the creeps.

Other: Willa is a striking beauty but has no idea that she is seen that way. She is addicted to Cherry Twizzlers and soda. She reads a lot of books and has worked in a public library in order to pay for school. Willa is observant and very intelligent.

How about this bloke for my first character:

Name: Hal Silas

Nickname: The Shapeshifter Specialist

Age: 29 years old

Type: Human

Affiliation: The Scientists

Appearance: A very lean, tall and constantly looks drunken man constantly in a very badly stained, burnt, scratched and almost every other form of damaged laboratory coat on a rather worn and colourless waistcoat, velvet trousers and silk shirt. His face is incredibly clean, moderately good looking and utterly undamaged in any part of his almost immaculate face for the rest of his appearance. He has a decent head of very light and fair brown hair, a small, business-like moustache of a darker shade that just accentuates very clear hazel eyes that are almost too big for his face. He has very little in the way of muscle, fat or anything else, some of his bones jut out, making little dents in his skin at certain areas.

Personality: A very charismatic, friendly and human-sympathetic man, he would be the man to gladly donate to a human charity but gladly accept the parts from supernatural beings, with a very peculiar smile every time he collects his materials. He feels absolutely no sympathy for almost any supernatural being, no matter what they try to do to him or for him. His motivation for his trade is to help humanity evolve at any expense of the beings he helped discover and exploit.

History: He is the son of one of the first scientists who discovered the supernatural beings, Hal managed to discover the shapeshifters by finding the only exception to Hal's lack of sympathy: Mal, a very deformed and weak shapeshifter, they both almost immediately stuck side by side, Mal acting as Hal's lab assistant and pet. After a struggle to negotiate Mal's continued life Hal promised to enter the study of shapeshifters especially.

Hal was named the owner of his father's laboratory after he completed his mentoring by his now manager father Graham, the trio now run a respectable business exclusively on shapeshifter involving inventions and research on them, Graham and Mal plan on offering Shapeshifters the opportunity to work as lab aides to save being captured. Hal eagerly awaits having more shapeshifters working for him and asks Mal about progress daily.

Abilities: A surprisingly pleasant personality and a knack for shapeshifter study and usage in inventions.

Weaknesses: Barely any physical strength, just enough to experiment, a complete and utter lack of sympathy for any supernatural beings excluding shapeshifters, an admiration for shapeshifters in any variety, even pausing just to behold what he thinks is their majesty and no training in any conventional weaponry, just in experimentation tools.

Other: He is remarkably smart, very disorganised when writing down notes, and always likes reading his old notes on Shapeshifters. Out of his job he is either playing around with Mal, helping with the public relations side, thus aiding his father. He is nigh addicted to curry.

I intend have my character be social with NPC's like members of her organization and her girlfriend, but they are not full fledged characters.

Nickname: Jane Doe (that’s what the outside world has started to know her by)

Age: 25

Type: Supernatural human.

Affiliation: Supernatural whom fights

Appearance:
Jane's short slender body (1.65 meter) can occasionally make people think, she is younger than she actually is. She's never been a big fan of dresses or high heels and mostly wears jeans and t-shirts. When she's sneaking into places she usually wears a hoodie and a thick lair of make-up to hide her identity.

Personality: Hotheaded and resentful of the world. Jane firmly believes supernaturals are the next step in human evolution and fights for it. She will do anything to protect her girlfriend, Lisa, whom she share everything with.

History: Jane (didn’t go by that name back then) spend 14 miserably years in a broken home. She was never taught how to handle her emotions, yet she never felt any anger, when people pointed fingers and called her trash. “The bastard’s daughter” some referred to her as. Finally, some light came into her life, as she met Lisa. That perfect angel had grown up with everything, and yet, for some strange reason, she gave Jane her love.
It would still take Jane 4 additional years to come out of the closet as gay, but when she did it was a relief beyond words.

Then the strange things started to happen. Lights would go out. Things would explode randomly. It wasn’t long until Jane figured out that it was her, who did these things. Somehow, she absorbed and channeled energy within her body. She tried to reach out to the world; she tried to get help, and was met with nothing more than fear and hate. Then… then Jane showed everyone she could hate to. She started to hit back, and when she hit back it was with such a force that newspapers started to feature it. Jane had turned into something to be feared, and why shouldn’t she? She was just like everyone else… in fact she was MORE!

Her little vendetta changed when a certain kind of people got hold of her. They were a small privately funded organization that intended to strike back at the world, and to turn the city into their own by executing secret operations/missions and starting a revolution. How they planned to do this and what they would do with such a power, was still a mystery to people who worked for them, but somehow it would benefit supernaturals.
The organization, nicknamed “Edge”, is small (20 handpicked people or so), and is not the biggest rebellion out there. It's more like an experiment to see what a group of determined individuals can do if proper organized. It has both humans and supernaturals working in it. Jane’s powers and skills have ensured that she is their Ace in the hole in the fight against oppression. Though other supernaturals (possibly with even more explosive powers) are also deployed on jobs, none are quite as favored as Jane, and the government has started to notice her. They have even put out an arrest warrant for this “Jane Doe” though no one has yet to give a detailed description of her.
Jane’s success on missions, and a mixture of determination and radical believes had landed her the role of leader of the little guys. She may not have any official power in Edge, but she participates in meets and is informed of progress. That has since been a problem for the few wealthy people behind the organization, since Jane clearly has a lot to learn about leadership, responsibility, keeping a leveled head and how to win a war, yet suddenly everybody asks about her opinion.

Abilities:
Energy absorption: Science tells us that there is energy in everything, whether it’s electricity, heat, light or a moving ball. Jane is someone who absorbs energy, stores it for a limited amount of time and can project it afterwards. Fire, explosions, heat, electricity and a lighting strike can all be consumed by her if she wants it to, but there is more: Jane can absorb the impact of a speeding car if it crashes into her. The same goes with bullets being fired.
Once she has absorbed the energy she can fire it anyway she likes: A broad beam that smashes or knocks over a car, a paper thin one that pretty much cuts through anything in an instance, or a super-high jump (the landing will make her absorb new energy, but she rarely has any control once she is in the air, so she mostly avoids this one). She can also make a powerful punch or kick, but these are single strikes, not a series of attacks.

Healing: Absorbing energy can make her heal wounds and mend broken bones. However this is still a slow process and can rarely be used on the battlefield. (This will almost be a weakness, since I can then make my character get seriously hurt)

Physically fit: Jane trains kick-boxing and parkour, and though her physic is nowhere near supernatural level, she can certainly handle herself in a fistfight.

Weakness/weaknesses: She must have psychical connecting to what she absorbs, and only big or fast impacts can be absorbed. That means Jane can not absorb getting her throat cut, getting choked, poisoned, gassed or having someone break her arm. And she can only absorb a small part of getting punched in the face by regular people. A knife thrown at her is sometimes just slow enough to penetrate halfway in before deflecting. Jane has yet to find the limit to how much she can absorb, but surely there is one.

Basically only the scientists know about supernaturals. So the inventions they make come from them.
Which means no one knows about angels or demons except for scientists.
For this purpose God would not be involved. Angels can say God exists but no one can play that being nor can they involve them in anyway other then explaining where they came from.

Edit: though for angels and demons I would prefer some form of they appeared suddenly or some other creative explanation...then add the rest of their history over a god explanation.
