[OOC] Crescent Dagger Camp

Deep within the forest, far from the road and paths. There is a Camp known as 'Crescent Dagger Camp', a safe haven for thieves of all ages to live in. No one is quite sure how this place came to be, but some say that it was a military outpost many years ago that was raided. Others say The inhabitants are nomads and have yet to leave. Crescent Dagger Camp is called many things, "A nest for scourge", " An un-honored den" or "Rat hole", but to those who live there, it goes why one name only. "Home"

Crescent Dagger Camp is home to thieves of many ages, many are adults, there are however children living here as well. Reguardless of such, Everyone has a reason for their place among the camp, some were cast out by society, others give to those who need help from those who don't, some simply turn to thievery for fun. No matter the reason for you to end up living with them, No matter who you are or what you have done, you are welcome at Crescent Dagger Camp.

Here is everything you need to know about the world.

Time period.

The setting is isn't the most complex thing in the world but it has its moments: The most advanced weapon we have is a metal crossbow. The most advanced method of travel is a carriage pulled by a horse on land and by sea it is a ship with gear systems propelling it. There are no lightbulbs or flashlights, at best any light source other than a campfire would be a candle or a lantern.

Our place in the world

We are thieves in this world, we do not lead honorable lives, we take what we want and we don't give a single damn about who we piss off!.
Pretty much all there is to it.

What exactly is Crescent Dagger Camp?

CDC is a safe haven for thieves, for any of you TES:V players, think the thieves guild of skyrim as an example. But in another universe with nothing to do with skyrim at all. Thieves of any background can live here as long as they respect others, as well as follow any rules laid out by the enforcers there. Our characters.

What weapons can we use if any at all?

-Daggers (Of course I'd use our home's namesake in this.)
-Sword
-Crossbow(You will have to steal one, but once you have it you can get bolts however you want, buy or steal.)

Name: Self explanatory.

Age: 13-30.

Appearance: As long as they aren't sci-fi like then we're clear.

Personality: Make your character almost anything here, just don't make them mentally insane or anything of that nature.

Weapon: Entirely optional.

The camp itself

Crescent Dagger Camp is in fact more than just a few tents like any other camp, it is as big as a large town in the forest and is greatly hidden by all of the trees, to get there, you have to follow a trail of trees marked with a crescent, or have a resident lead you. The camp territory is mainly marked by the many trees but there are a few structures to block off outsiders, there is a river running through the camp that is blocked off by a wooden barricade, but just enough to keep people out and to let water flow for example. Most of the homes are large tents that can be closed off on cold nights, there are however a few houses to be found in the camp, they aren't very big, most of them have only one floor and a few rooms, but a few have a second floor along with the first. There are also a few areas to get and store food, there is at least one food outpost in each area of the camp, one by the entrance, on the opposite end of the camp and somewhere in the middle. There are very few outdoor lights due to risk of being found by authorities despite the seclusion.

-The characters are not related by blood, if you say someone is like a brother or sister to you, or son or daughter, that is fine. But they can't be literally.

-There WILL be lawbreaking without question, if that's not your thing, I am thankful you read this far.

-Keep it pg13, Romance is perfectly fine, but anything NSFW is for the pm's.

-You can only be human.

Name: Mason

Age: 15

Appearance: Mason is 5 feet and 8 inches tall, has pale skin and muddy-brown hair that is cropped just over his forehead. His eyes are rich blue and stand out the most out of his face. He typically wears common clothes such as a cloth shirt and a pair of leather shoes as well as a necklace of a dark blue stone with a band of leather to wear it. He also has a scar on the left side of his face across his eye, therefore he is unable to see through it.making his left eye completely useless.

Personality: Mason is calm and collective mainly, he doesn't show emotion often but has his moments, when someone first meets him he acts the way he mostly does but once someone gets to know him, he is more open around them. He is always a quiet person even around his friends. On the surface he can be cold and distant to everyone, making him come off as a loner at first, never asking for help but always giving it. Reguardless of his distant nature, once someone messes with his friends he snaps on them and would kill someone if they met his friend any harm. Despite being born to a life of thievery, Mason is a good person and can be known to do the right thing no matter what, reguardless of his life.

Weapon: A Sword with a grey blade with several etchings decorating the base of the blade, these etchings are a number of swirling lines that resemble a forest floor. The handguard of the sword is a shining bronze beam that balances the sword out. The hilt is black with white vines painted on it spiraling around the hilt. The hilt ends with a round stone for the pommel. The scabbard for this blade is a black Painted wooden case that fits the sword perfectly, the symbol for the camp is shown on the side of it, a belt is also attached to the scabbard so that Mason can wear it at his side.

[Polaris North]

Name: Emi Takamitsu [though she has a whole bundle of other fake names]

Age: 15

Appearance: Emi is quite the small thief. Standing at 5 feet flat, she is probably the smallest in her age group but she doesn't care much about that. She has shoulder-length blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She has that cute, innocent young girl look going on for her. Her clothing isn't very intimidating either and quite plain when paired up with her bright colored hair and eyes. She wears a custom-made mask and cloak whenever she meets someone out of the camp for information.

Personality: Emi is just the ball of cute energy and fun. She probably made the whole camp her friend and cheers up most of the people she comes across. Although she has very few emotional attachments and nearly no one she actually trusts (save for her partner in crime). She is very secretive about her past, as she was not born there. She manages to control the conversation so it wouldn't focus on her entirely. Although to those who she cares about, she can be a little protective. One should not even think of crossing her when it came to dirt in your name, if she doesn't already know your deepest darkest secrets, bet that she will soon enough. After all, she is an informant worthy of praise.

Weapon: She has two daggers hidden in her person that she uses for self-defense.

Other: She is also a magician (uses this for thieving most of the time). She is also a trusted informant in many parts of the kingdom, however illegal her methods of finding out are. Partners up with Will on multiple occasions.

Name: Will Trubant

Age: 18

Appearance: Will stands at a height of 5'7", a little small compared to the average height but good enough. He has jet black hair and dark brown eyes. He has an athletic body, built for speed, precision and acrobatic skills. He has a variety of clothing in his disposal, depending on who he plans to target.

Personality: Will is observant but outgoing. If anything, he's a gentleman worthy of praise among the nobility, mostly because he was a noble before he became a thief. He can be a smooth talker when he wants to and has been known to manipulate those he tries to steal from. Taking away their concentration from their valuable and onto him, his partner (Emi) would easily pick someone's pockets. His nonchalant behavior to trouble is something that worries most.

Weapon: He has six throwing knives inside a specially made holder, three on each side of his leg, but of course hidden from view. Another dagger hidden underneath his cloak/coat.

Other: His past is somewhat interesting, ask about it and he'll happily share. His partner in crime is Emi.

Claret stands at five foot four, shorter than average for her age group, with a slightly athletic build. Her wine red hair is cropped short, falling just an inch above her shoulders and pointing in different directions, with a few strands styled into a small braid tucked to her left and dyed a sable black. Her eyes are a light green and are often narrowed into cat-like slits. Her clothing tends to be more casual, with a dark brown leather vest above a simple dark grey shirt, but no matter what she wears, she always has a wolf fang that hangs from her silver necklace.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:

Claret is easy-going and cheerful, with her lazy smirk and bright smile making her seem approachable to almost anyone. She finds it easy to talk to all sorts of people, from crooked criminals hanging out in deserted alleys to the posh nobles sitting comfortably in their thrones. This kind of behaviour makes it easy for her to persuade people into doing what she wants and seeing things her way. She does, however, have a tendency to become carried away especially when experiencing extreme bouts of anger or having her sadistic tendencies triggered. During these times, the cheerful Claret disappears only to be replaced with a bloodthirsty beast, which is why she tries her hardest to never reach this point. Not again.

W E A P O N:

Claret's weapon of choice is a pair of short swords, each made from a thousand layers of steel. Each sword had been made especially for her, allowing her ease in using them as though they're simply extensions of her own arms. She strikes from the shadows, fast and deadly with her swords, leaving her target either subdued or killed within seconds. Her fighting style, however, makes her an easy target as she has no way of defending herself other than a simple parry of her swords and her speed.

O T H E R:

Claret acts as one of the camp's agents and specializes in gathering information, through both spying and torture, from their targets. During one of her previous missions, Claret had been tasked to abduct a daughter of a nobleman in exchange for a hefty ransom, but found that the daughter wished to joing their camp. She now looks after Peridot.

Name: Guinevere Cosax AKA “Arrow” (Straight Arrow)

Appearance:
-Nothing special to look at
-Wears the common clothes of the area with nothing particularly flashy (considering that is all that she can afford.) Even so, she is able to wear the garments with a level of stylishness.
-Dark brown hair
-Hazel eyes
-Darker skinned with freckles that you might find in a southern European.
-She is a little tall for a woman and a little lanky
-Flat chest
-Has toned legs from a lot of walking

-Doesn’t stand out even when she tries
-Has a passion that runs deep and is not diverted by failure or obstacles
-Loves challenges and thrives with opposition
-A total futurist
-Is innately curious and a devout learner of anything that tickles her fancy
-Has lots of experience with street-smarts, avoiding dangerous situations of unwholesome environments.
-While a thief, there is a moral code that she follows that is absolute. This has earned her the nickname “Straight Arrow” as a mockery, but her comfort with it has been turned to a term of respect and shortened to just “Arrow.”

Weapon: Arrow carries a long whip, but does not use it to kill.

Other: She has a long record of arrests and breaking and entering, however, nobody has ever been able to pin a crime on her other than being where she is not allowed.

The one crime that the thieves recognize her for, is the flawless caper of the theft of several sacred texts and books on magic from a noble by the name of Pravus. It was a story to be blown off as mere legend considering that the house and Pravus himself have no clue where to even start looking for suspects or improvement in security. However, witnesses claim that such texts are in Arrow’s possession though why she is not attempting to sell them is beyond the reasoning of most. This has earned her the respect of being some sort of mastermind.

Personality: Oly as his friends call him grew up in the Camp coming there from the Capital at a young age when his parents were killed by two street thugs. Growing up in such a place has made him very distrusting, careful, paranoid, wise, resilient, and most of all dangerous. Having done just about everything he could to survive as a small 6 year old, Oly has seen the worst of the world and has resolved himself to never see it again. When he turned fourteen he began a system to help and protect the younger children of the Camp while at the same time teaching them the valuable skills they would need in life, and of course making a profit at the same time. His system? Well it was a spy network that utilized those that no one expected.

That boy you just threw into a brick wall after telling your partner of your patrol paths, the girl you just abused for three hours and gloated about Castle business, the boy cleaning the horse stalls while you left your valuable dispatches on your Horse. All of those were paws of Olyvar who took to calling himself 'The Tomcat'. This system has made him a very well known and even feared boy of sixteen years though in the Thieves Camp he is seen by a hero by the youngsters who flock to him and his large warehouse in the Eastern part of the Camp where children of all ages can be found. Any child less fortunate and with no where else to go becomes a Paw to the Tomcat.

Weapon: Skilled Acrobat and martial artist, uses brass knuckle like weapons. Is also protected by a unit of bodyguards when doing 'business'.

Other: Is a well known face inside Crescent Dagger Camp, and the older patrons have seen him rise from less than nothing. They saw him at his worst. Has adopted one of his 'Paws' as his younger brother and heir.

Personality: Toby is a interesting kid, a kid that has been taught all about the world and how it works by his mentor and adopted 'brother' Olyvar. Toby has mastered the art of manipulation and spying and as such is able to change his personality to what he needs it to be. He has performed missions or jobs as a noble's son, a beggar, a consort, a homeless orphan, a slave, a servant, stable boy, and the list continues. His best weapon is subtly and getting people to underestimate him. He is a swordsman of the mind and his sword of choice is words. When not outside of the Camp Toby can be seen at Olyvar's side almost all the time, learning the ways of a spy and informat while also learning how the network worked, being groomed to take over for Olyvar in the case of a accident which in such a business sometimes happens.

Toby loves to get into deep and complex conversations, giving his mind a challenge and he is exceptionally smart for his age which makes up for his smaller build and frame. He has zero fighting prowess but hardly needs to as he has a way out of just about everything, and the running joke is he can talk himself into and out of the King's throne room without breaking a sweat. When he does let his guard down and just be a kid he's rather normal in that he craves affection and attention, and can be a regular goofball if he knows and trusts you like he does Oly.

Weapon: Preferred weapon is his mind and mouth but he is a rather good user of throwing knives, and practices with them constantly.
Other: Olyvar is very protective of the boy and makes sure even on his missions that he's tailed and protected by someone.

Miry Ghostheart

“A queen who wears a crown of thorns is still a queen.”

Name: Mirror "Miry" Ghostheart (formerly Aymiria of Morewen).

Age: Thirteen.

Appearance: The most notable thing about Miry is her height (Or lack thereof). She’s 4 feet, 4 inches tall, and not making many bids to get taller. Her eyes are bluish-violet, her skin fair and unblemished, and hair long, wavy, and dark chocolate brown. Overall her features are delicate and refined, hinting at a noble lineage. She favors tight-fit dark tunics and leggings for her wardrobe, and always wears knee-high black leather boots. Even in summer she will not wear a short-sleeved tunic, and certainly not a dress.

Personality: Miry can best be described as distant. Not that she’s off in the head, she just… doesn’t volunteer information. If one can get her talking, if one can convince her to trust them, she’s very intelligent and has a razor-sharp wit. But getting her to offer up more than the barest information is quite tricky; most of Crescent Dagger thinks that she’s mute. She’s very dependable and reliable, and often acts much older than her age. (Having been raised in a royal court until she was ten, then charged with treason, tortured to a “confession”, disowned, and nearly executed… Needless to say, she’s had to grow up way, way too fast.) Once you can befriend her, she’s a little goofy, and really a very sweet girl, behind all the layers.

Weapon: Miry is quite well-versed in poisons and that is her weapon of choice for assassinations. Good at sleight-of-hand and using illusions and tricks of the light, almost being able to sneak something out of a person’s coinpurse without them noticing, even if she’s talking with them face-to-face. She’s decent with a sling but absolutely refuses to use a bladed weapon.

Other: Don’t expect her to tell you, but she’s the younger, disowned daughter of Tseimyen of Morewen, the king of a wealthy (if small) land to the west, the kingdom of Aesiria. Also don’t expect her to show you, but there are meticulously placed knife scars lacing across pretty much her entire body—why she dresses so modestly and hates bladed weapons.

Summer Silvershade

Name: Summer Silvershade (Formerly Kailsey of Prainche)

Age: Sixteen

Appearance: Summer is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall—Rather taller than average. Her build is slender, though she does have some manner of womanly assets about her. Her hair is dark brown, to the bottoms of her shoulder blades, and is usually tightly braided. Her skin is tan, a smattering of freckles lending to a youthful appearance. Her eyes are her most noticeable feature: one is bright green, the other dark brown. Favoring tight-fitting tunics in light colors and somewhat looser, flowy pants, she still looks very much the part of an acrobat.

Personality: Summer is endlessly flirty and giggly; it almost seems like she’s drunk, most of the time. She’s giggly and bubbly to the point of being annoying; she often drives Miry and Winter absolutely crazy. But it’s just a façade; the real Summer is deadly. Serious, calculating, and analytical. She tries to keep that side of her personality under wraps, away from the real world. As far as almost everyone knows, she’s just Summer the flirty girl who might have slept with every male her age or older at camp.

Weapon: An acrobat trained from a very young age, Summer’s nearly-impossible flexibility and dexterity is a weapon in itself. She wields custom-built devices, she calls them her claws. They are basically padded handles with a multitude of long, thin metal blades on them. She grips them in her hands and clenches her hands into fists, the blades stick out between her fingers, and she can throw punches with the added slicing action. Also it should be noted that, as one of the court entertainers, she was expected to entertain people in all the senses of the word.

Other: Summer has a tattoo of vines around her wrist, the mark of the Aesirian court’s official teams of acrobats and other entertainers. The vines curl, two tendrils up and two down, vaguely resembling a dancing figure on the inside of her wrist. ALSO: She's not actually related to Winter, she just took the same false surname and poses as his sister.

Winter Silvershade

“It’s not honorable. I refuse to stand for it.”

Name: Winter Silvershade (Formerly Larazos of Saindri)

Age: Nineteen

Appearance: Winter stands an impressive six feet, four inches tall. His build is overall muscular, though not terribly bulky. With his dark brown hair ragged and uneven, no two strands the same length, and his tan skin marked by blade scars, he’s quite the intimidating sort. His pale blue eyes are narrow and vaguely reminiscent of a cat’s.

Personality: Winter can seem cold, harsh, and unforgiving. He has a very strong sense of morals and generally is rather stiff and unyielding. Rather cynical and jaded, moreso than you’d expect from your average 19-year-old. Something about seeing what happened to Miry made him realize the world wasn’t as great of a place as it was supposed to be. He vowed that he was going to try to make the world better (though he promised this, ironically enough, as a traitor fleeing from the king’s justice.) He doesn’t compromise well and is rather muleheaded about carrying out his own idea of justice.

Weapon: Having been in training for knighthood, he’s quite proficient with longsword, longbow, glaive, and lance. The three-ish years on the streets have given him proficiency with dagger, sling, and further refined his hand-to-hand combat techniques.

Other: Does not approve of Summer’s choice of profession; thinks she would have done much better as one of the Queensguard—the queen’s most trusted ladies-in-waiting who are trained to fight and ride, while still acting like a lady. Also, if you touch Miry in any even vaguely-suggestive way, expect to meet a slow, agonizing death by his blades.

I don’t expect politics to play a huge role in this, but just in case, I created Aesiria as a kingdom far to the west, well out of our unnamed land's politics, so I’m not screwing with any of them. My characters are fugitives who have fled the royal court of Aesiria and now come as petty thieves. (If you would like me to I can write up a backstory for the group of them, how they met and their journey across the realm.)
