Name: Luciano de Vicari

Age: 26

Affiliation: Templar Order, House of Vicari, House of Borgia

Appearance:

His expression is always either serious or bitter, he seldom displays anything else in front of others. He regularly wears cloaks, but never a hood, which leaves his middle-length black hair to flow freely. He prefers blades for combat (and daggers for backup), and likes to dual-wield them when possible.

Background:
The Vicaris were once a mighty and influential noble family in Florence, but were unable to retain their grasp as newer powers strode forward, vying for control of the city. By the time Luciano was born, they had fallen into almost-obscurity and Florence was in the firm hands of the Medici. The young boy was tutored as the family's greatest hope for re-emergence, an incredible weight placed on his shoulders. He was taught in the spirit of the old, prejudiced noble ways: the pursuit of power and wealth above all else with little regard to the lives of the commoners. His practical education was also applied to help with the aforementioned two values—he was trained in both stewardship and swordfighting, with the latter proving more effective.

These studies left a considerable mark on Luciano and he grew into a vicious, but considered man. He realised that the Medici could not be overthrown with a direct assault; instead he turned his focus towards the shadowy organisation they allied with—the Assassins. He believed that by using his skills to aid their cause would propel him into prominence and secure the position of his family among the high nobility of Florence once again.

His apprenticeship was short-lived however, for his ambitions clashed gravely with the Brotherhood's ideals. They sought to empower the very people he wished to rule and control. The failing Luciano was disillusioned. No longer viewing the Assassins as a major stepping stone to the success he so much aspired for, he quit. However, his journey was far from over.

They went after him. The Brotherhood felt that the spiteful young man with insider knowledge was too much of a wildcard and sent one of their own to make sure he never spilled anything. It was meant to be merely for intimidation...but Luciano could not know that. He got word from a man named Francesco de Pazzi that an attempt on his life was soon to be made. And so, when the Assassin struck, he struck back—accompanied by Francesco. The two routed and injured the attacker, who barely managed to flee.

After this incident, Luciano's path took a great turn. Francesco introduced him to the Templar Order, whose ideals and goals were much more agreeable to the young man. He also saw how the Order came to support the smaller noble families against the ruling Medici: first the Pazzi, now the Vicari. Soon enough, titles and land had started falling into the family's hands once again—all made possible by Luciano's newfound loyalty.

Some years later, Luciano de Vicari is a high-ranking Templar knight in Florence. He belongs to the inner circle of Rodrigo Borgia, the Templar Grand Master with papal ambitions. This man has now given him a task of utmost importance, greater than anything he had done before—the retrieval of a mythical Piece of Eden, recently located by Templar associates in Florence. Before the Assassins do...
