[OOC] Two Paths, One Truth (Mateotis & The Kraken)

Florence, 1478. On the forefront, the Medici family has finally grasped control, led by the benevolent Lorenzo de Medici who seeks to make the city the de facto haven for all arts and sciences. The much-tormented people ache for peace, order and justice, and are willing to accept any ruler that can grant them these.

Yet, beyond the slowly stabilising daily life, the struggle for power is more intense than ever. The other Florentine families are not willing to give up their clout as they vie for wealth and influence, nothing is sacred in their vainglorious pursuits. Behind the curtains, six men conspire to take down the Medici rule in one fell swoop.

Even all this is but a facade however, for there are much greater forces in motion. One of the mythical Pieces of Eden has been uncovered deep under Florence. This led to the ancient and constant war between the Templar Order and the Assassin Brotherhood to rekindle at the heart of the Renaissance. Aided by powerful families and influential leaders, both sides seek to claim the Apple and use it for what they both believe to be the betterment of humanity.

There is much at stake. The actions of few stand to decide the fates of many. Who will triumph? Who will gain the power? Who will find the truth?

Okay, so I especially want your thoughts on this one. I tried (and will always try) to limit the amount of stuff I make your character(s) do for the sake of the flow. If it's too much, please tell me how you wanted it to happen and I'll edit it. Many things can happen now that it's basically a 2v2 (may even end up 1v2 depending on how trained Alessandro is) and I'm curious to see which path will you take. :D

Also, I don't fully know what happens to the person who holds an Apple (usually they only show its effects on others), but I think it's pretty safe to say that you need a fair amount of composure and willpower to be able to wield one.

I really enjoyed the post, and the amount of control over my characters was not too much for me. In the future, should there be more back and forth, we can work on one collaborative post or do shorter posts each as well. I have some things I have to do today, so I will get another post up this evening when I get home from my errands and such. I'm already liking how this story is developing, I am excited to see how we keep it up :)

In all seriousness, I'm glad everything is fine! And of course, it's one of the reasons I really like 1x1s—there is a lot of flexibility possible. Looking forward to it!

Also, I am unsure on the ending situation. There are once again a lot of possibilities, and I've been thinking about maybe having the Apple destroyed? It's basically a ‘bad’ conclusion for both sides, yet there might just well be greater values at stake here. I did not write it in right away because it definitely closes off some options and I didn't want to do that arbitrarily. What do you say?

Yes I like the idea of it being destroyed, or at least being lost in the rubble. It will create tension in both organizations and the base for the rivalry between the two to form. The power of it has been seen, which will be enough to keep both organizations interested in their cause I suppose.

I went ahead to destroy the Apple with that post since it seemed we both agreed on that option (I can edit that if you had another plan in mind). Now with all four sitting there panting in the catacombs, I am excited to see how you will go with your next post.

Well it was a hard decision, haha. Luciano is a ferocious Templar, but he is also very calculated. With Emerico almost completely out (and him of course not knowing Alessandro's state) and Elena being a rather worthy opponent, he would not risk a direct confrontation, at least not right away. But the choice is there nonetheless. So if you wanna fight, have at it! :D

This was admittedly a shorter post, and you can follow up with a similar one as well, depending on how much you want to detail the Apple and its effects. After this, I have an idea of something to happen when the four are back on the streets of Florence!

No problem here, I am moving a few hundred miles today for a job, so it may be few days or so before I can get a reply up. I plan on trying to tonight after I get settled in, but don't count on that. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the little turn of events for our characters. I'm looking forward to continuing the story for them!

I am the marketing project lead for a company, I am in charge of coordinating all of their promotional and marketing efforts. And since this company had no one in this position prior to me, it is a lot of work to do cleanup and damage control for them as well as build a marketing department from the ground up.

Though it of course depends on the size of the company, that sounds like a very important (and well-paying I hope!) job for an internship. Appropriately busy as well, especially considering the circumstances. I'm happy for you, haha. Thanks for sharing...and best of luck with it!

Yes! Lots of work as an intern, the company is not very large, but they target a niche market with many customers. They've got some new products they're developing and since they've never done marketing before they want to see the difference with marketing these new products. That's where I come in! Luckily, it is a paid internship, and I am living with family here so I don't have to pay to live here so that's all well and fine.

Also, I hope the post is all right. Found a very interesting journal article about Florence law during the renaissance, and how modern day imprisonment has roots there in the prison Le Stinche. Let me know if you'd like anything changed!

The post is just right. Keeping things interesting! Out of curiosity, do you happen to have a source where I can read up on the aforementioned article? Sounds quite intriguing, but Google only yielded me Italian results!
