In 2023, Japan and the United States merged in a mutual agreement to support each other with both technology from Japan and military/security from the US. The two countries dominated the world economically and with power, their competition being China. As time went on, in 2025, famine struck. The powerhouse had run its resources out due to overpopulation, harsh industrialization, and increasing pollution. In response, Japan and the US began a project named R.E.O.G.E.M. REOGEM stood for Rapid Engineering of Genetically Enhanced Meat and was successful, but with a cost. The powerhouse was forced to be funded through China, being forced to pay huge amounts of money due to China being the only one to help out with their resources. This escalated and brought up concerns of the Japan-America military fighting with China.
As tensions grew, Japan-America contacted Russia. Russia now had royal families after its near collapse due to China's constant overpricing. With Russia, Japan-America made an agreement. The agreement was that if Russia assassinated the President of the People's Republic of China, Russia would be given Alaska and a percentage of the REOGEM funding. Russia agreed and assassinated the President of China on the night of December 19, 2028.
With China's government and people is disarray and chaos, Russia and Japan-America met on December 23, 2028 to have a secret treaty signing and give Russia the state of Alaska. However, a Chinese spy had been inside of the meeting and assassinated the king of Russia. With the king dead, his military leader son was outraged and declared war on China. Japan-America was dragged in and helped fight.
March 15, 2029 was the day that the war took a sudden turn in China's favor. China revealed that North Korea had perfected its nuclear ICBMs and were prepared to fire. The Russian military leader retaliated, ignoring Japan-America's warning not to escalate the war to nuclear war. On March 18, 2029, Russia launched their experimental nuke on China. The magnitude of the bomb was severe, taking out two-thirds of the country and successfully "winning" the war. Japan-America withdrew and declared war on Russia, escalating the fighting. The two superpowers went at it, eventually having the result of a nuclear bomb being dropped on Russia ironically.
As the war ended, most of the world was wiped out. It was discovered that in Central America, there was an area that was undamaged by the war and was colonized by the remaining world. In 2032, the large portion of Central America was turned into a city named Babel. Babel was a thriving megalopolis, but was in jeopardy of nuclear fallout as nuclear waste got into the water and ecology. Babel came to the conclusion of creating a space center to try and keep humanity saved.
2045 was when the nuclear waste got bad. Wildlife began dying out and people were getting sick from the water. In an attempt to remove radiation, Babel scientists made a chemical that "purified" the water. It was successful, making the water less harmful than before. Babel seemed to be recovering for a bit. 2061 marked the day of an odd occurrence; millions of people dropping dead with no explanation. Scientists and doctors were baffled, unable to find what was going on. As research went on, billions of people were dying. This reduced the world population to around 500,000 million people. The cause of deaths was the combination of Project REOGEM meat and the chemical in the water. A man-made creation wiped out itself. The Babel Space Station was large enough to fit people the remains of humanity on-board, so evacuation from Earth was issued.
2067 was the last day recorded that a human footprint was on Earth, Babel being evacuated to it's space station. Humanity finally began to thrive. While the Babel Space Station was populated and the population increased, it was time to reveal its project. The project was Project Apollo; the search for a planet "paradise"-a planet very similar to Earth in both size and atmosphere. The Babel Institute of Space Exploration (or BISE) was implemented 2070, going through intense training for astronauts, spacers (a militaristic astronaut), and other crucial positions for potential departures for the search for paradise.
Years went by and things on board the Babel Space Station grew sour. In 2110, a civil war broke out. The Babel Space Station was split between the Babel United Forces and the Confederacy of Babel. The Babel United Forces, or BUF, was seen as the "good guys". They put the citizens of the Babel Space Station first and space exploration second. The Confederacy of Babel, or CB, was viewed as evil and their main goal was to ditch the Babel Space Station and detonate it to prevent the BUF from continuing operations. After 5 years of fighting, the CB surrendered to the BUF, leaving behind a second space station and enough resources and people in the BISE programs to begin Project Apollo's launch.
Thirty ships set out on June 1, 2115 and with on a space travel ship, called frigates. These frigates are combat armed and equip with more than enough fuel for their journey. As time passed, humans made contact with extraterrestrials and formed alliances as well as made enemies. This gave the members of Project Apollo both places to stay as well as wars to fight for protection. This created a major turn in events, sparking a huge galactic war. This set back Project Apollo, causing a huge wave of frigates to be deployed. Eventually the BUF created more and more areas to live in around the friendly extraterrestrial races.
As the war continued for years, 5 teams of frigates were sent to continue the search for "Paradise". From scout reports, it was uninhabited by any extraterrestrials besides animals and plant-life. This is the story about the remaining quest for a paradise planet and the crew of Apollo III, or their nickname, the Pathfinder.
TL;DR: We're searching for a planet similar to Earth after it's uninhabitable, fighting in a war at the same time.
This roleplay has elements from Mass Effect, Star Wars, and other science fiction novels, video games, movies, etc. The plot was inspired by Logic, a Maryland-based rapper, and his recent album The Incredible True Story. I tied in some Mass Effect and Star Wars as well as my own ideas into the plot to make it more creative. While it is not mandatory to know any of these series, it would be helpful for you to know some of the lore.
There will be 9 open positions with the possibility of more being created, or some being filled with NPCs/another character you can create. I'm sure they won't all be filled, but I hope so. Please let me know if there is a position not listed that you'd like to be and I'll add it.
1) Godmodding, metagaming, and other douchebaggery is frowned upon. Excessive abuse of this rule will get you kicked out and/or your character immediately killed or something.
2) Don't make your character a stud. No one is perfect and can take a whole fleet of aliens by themselves. Be realistic and be fair.
3) Character deaths are optional. If you'd like that dramatic effect, I'd recommend making a second character.
4) If you feel like you're going to drop the roleplay, please let me know ASAP. I'd hate to be waiting on someone and learn 3 weeks later that you didn't want to roleplay anymore.
5) Romance is a possibility, but not the main focus. And please keep any and all romance to a low level. I don't need smut going on.

- Name: Position, first name, and last name. It that order.
- Appearance: A picture (please place pictures in a hider), a WELL WRITTEN description, or both.
- Age: 21 and up
- Gender: Male/Female/Whatever you identify as
- Background: The backstory of your character. Please make this 5-7 sentences AT LEAST. (Can be skipped)
- Personality: Give your character a 5-7 sentence paragraph describing their personality, traits, tendencies, habits, etc.
- Equipment: Your loadout in case of battle/planet exploration/missions. Include your weapon, armor, and other things you deem important to include. As for weapons, they are basically the weapon designs are the looks used in Mass Effect, Star Wars blasters (no lightsabers), and Halo Covenant weapons. Armor is purely based from Mass Effect.
- Strengths: At least 3 things your character excels/is really good with. Eloborate and explain.
- Weakness: At least 3 things your character can't do/fears/isn't good at. Elaborate and explain.
- Speech Color: Please, please, please use a color when your character speaks. I would also love you lots if you bold your speech and italicize your thoughts to avoid confusion.
- Other: Anything that you can't really put in any of these categories would go here.
