Name: Rick
RichardsonAge: 22
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Appearance: 5'8" 250 of stocky build from hauling hoses. He tends to keep his brownish-red hair hair short to shaved for obvious reasons and is often never more than a week without shaving his face. His dark brown eyes thankfully skipped a generation so he doesn't have to wear milk-bottles like his father.
Mutation: At the moment, he is something between colossus and kevin 11. He has the power to absorb minerals from skin contact. He absorbs the non-ferrous minerals off of a surface and metabolizes it with the first dermal layers of his skin to increase the density and resistance as a protective layer with some minor combat bonuses. Not only does this lining extend to his mouth and lungs but he also absorbs the properties of said materials. (He can not absorb the iron from a red-brick, but he can absorb the aluminum based kiln-bricks in fireplaces inner lining.) The downside to his power use is that it strips the molecules from the surface he is touching which can cause structural integrity, he is trying to train to strip the molecules in a way of his will rather than simply radial absorbency so he can use it to 'cut' through stone.
Since his first manifestation involved a stone cocoon that healed him of his fever, there is some groundwork for him being a geokinetic or healing based on immersion in the earth, but it hasn't manifested yet.
Personality:He's a very protective of those he call friends, which is a hard hurdle for him to get over at the moment. Whilst the bravery of a firefighter to stand up to danger, he is now pyrophobic and will 'turtle up' into a defensive stone stance when faced with fire larger than campfire/burn barrels if he can not keep more then 10 feet away from the heat. He played football for 4 years so he is a good team player that can follow a leaders orders, he himself seems to lack the knack of leadership but perhaps that is something merely needing to be unlocked.
Bio:Born in
Richardson, Tx. He was supposed to be the fourth generation of police officers, but he watched how much the others in the family would worry every time the news spoke of a wounded or fallen officer, so he chose to become a fire-fighter instead. He felt it was a less dangerous way to save people's lives. He joined the junior firefighters and did his best to graduate quickly.
He had a girl on his arm, a Letterman jacket from JV and Varsity football, a car he could borrow at a moment notice, and the trust of his family. It wasn't some heroic moment, it wasn't some heinous crime. It just happened...
He was in church already not feeling too good, everything felt heavy and sluggish like he was wading through water. It was a hundred and hell outside so no one saw his fever coming when he ran out side to throw up and collapsed behind the abbey onto the cement floor. That was when his first manifestation occurred, someone came to see if he was alright but suddenly ran for cover as his skin turned grey as a storm cloud. No, clouds, Concrete. He was turning to stone right before their eyes as it crawled up his skin, tearing his clothes as he grew in size. But it didn't stop with just his skin as juts of rock shoved out of his body until he was cocooned inside of a boulder sitting in a crater.
A moment later the rock shattered and he emerged back to normal. But the damage had been done, someone had seen him change. Thankfully, it was of his brothers from the firehouse who swore to help keep a lid on it while he figured it out back at their home. He spent the next couple of days trying to understand who and what, the best he could figure out is that if he touched rock, he became rock...sometimes.
He tried to use his gift as best he could to try and be a better firefighter He would often touch the ground like a good luck charm before going into the building, turning into stone under all of his firefighting gear. Unfortunately this did increase his mass significantly enough that he fell through a weakened floor into the basement of a house, which made it it collapse as the structure was compromised, pinning him and the only other person who knew his secret.
Rick had to lay there, immune to the fire and the crushing weight of wood as his friend screamed and cried for his mother for minutes on end until he died in the fire. As far as anyone knew, both died that day.
Rick awoke later that day in the back of a truck, on his way to a place where he can learn to hone his powers.
