Name: Lucie Valentine
Nickname: Luce
Age: 16
Birthday: November 6th, 1999
Gender: Female
Sexual orientation: Heterosexual
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 120 lbs
Special characteristics: None.
Appearance: While Lucie might not come across as the most approachable of people at first glance what with her perpetually bored expression and closed off posture, she certainly does present an eye catching picture.
Styled in an asymmetrical bob and dyed a vibrant, flame red; her hair strikes a vivid contrast with her pale skin and dark clothing. Her long, wispy lashes are darkened with mascara and her large eyes are usually accentuated with black eyeliner in an attempt to make the otherwise unremarkable grey of her irises stand out. Silver studs and small hoops follow the curve of her delicate ears, five in her left and three in her right. All this makes her look a fair bit older than she actually is.
The girl exudes the illusion of effortless grace; her long legs and willowy frame further lending credence to this. However, this illusion of elegance only holds for about as long as she remains still. Having gone through an unexpected growth spurt, she’s suddenly unsure and entirely awkward about her body as the next teenage girl.
Personality: Raised by her aunt after the tragic death of her parents, Lucie has grown up to be cynical and more than a little bit spoiled. For someone so young, she’s got quite a bit of vitriol towards the world. It's honestly a wonder she hasn’t toppled over from the massive chip on her slender shoulders. She isn’t above weaponizing the tragedy of her past to evoke guilt in her pushover of a guardian and get her way in the end; which should be a clear enough picture as to how she goes through life. And when the going gets tough, she uses her past as a shield behind which to hide from the problem.
Lucie is alarmingly unmotivated, even for a teenager. Rather than a case of laziness, she simply shows no concern for her future, content to let life just pass her by. Much to her aunt’s dismay, no amount of coaxing or strictness would snap her out of it.
However, for all her facade of disinterest and boredom, Lucie is quite aware of her surroundings and her peers. She pays attention to the goings on of those around her, often surprising them when she speaks up. Of course, as she has a tendency for sarcasm - and due to her acerbic tongue - most of these comments aren’t exactly well received. She’s also prideful enough that sometimes, she fails to see past her albeit very pretty nose - and god forbid she ever admits to being wrong. Lucie is extremely opinionated on certain subjects and doesn’t hesitate to let them be known. She’s quick to take offense and slow to forgive, leaving her with a scant few friends.
Lucie’s English carries a French accent to her words, being a native Parisian and all.
Likes:
- Lucie is borderline obsessed with fantasy novels - The Forgotten Realms, Harry Potter, and Dragon Age being a few of her favorites. She can talk about it for hours on end if she isn’t stopped.
- Drawing, though she prefers to hide behind the anonymity of the internet while showing off her work.
- Obsessive drinker of fine teas.
- Sylvester, her lovebird. He's magnificent and superior to all other animals, in her opinion.
Dislikes:- Food in general, fish being particularly offensive. As an extremely picky eater with an abysmal appetite to go with it, Lucie would avoid food if it was at all possible.
- Schoolwork; Lucie hates school and puts in only as much effort as to ensure she doesn't flunk out of her classes.
- Lucie doesn't like flowers since they remind her of funerals and her time spent in a hospital, when she got tons of those as condolences and well wishes.
Skills:- Proficient in digital art and decent enough in traditional ink sketches, Lucie earns a fair bit of pocket change through her commissions and has a decent sized follower base.
- Knows how to swear in French, Tevene, Qunlat, Nilfgaardian and ancient Elvhen.
- Knack for perfectly mimicking accents once she hears enough of it.
- Making people feel uncomfortable by being tactless on purpose, and with her scathing remarks.
Fears:
- As a child, Lucie had an incident involving an upturned canoe and nearly drowned as a result. The experience has left her deathly afraid of water in large quantities.
- Hospitals have always been a source of fear and trepidation for her, bringing to mind at least a dozen horrible scenarios of what could go wrong. Her time admitted to one after the car crash served to make it even worse, if that was possible.
- Snakes. Squirmy, scaly, slithery beasts that are the embodiment of horror in Lucie's eyes. This might have to do with the fact that she watched a - highly unrealistic, but still terrifying in her mind - movie marathon about killer snakes.
- An inexplicable (and rather embarrassing) fear of hers is the paranormal. Lucie has never been strong in the face of horror movies and novels, but anything about the paranormal leaves her torn between hiding under her blankets and keeping a vigilant watch on every little shadow and rustle.
History: Born to Allison and Laurent Valentine, Lucie was a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. The family had their ups and downs but she had a normal and happy childhood. Well, as normal a childhood as one could have with a semi-famous model for a father and a makeup artist in early retirement as a mother. Still, they loved their daughter and doted on her at every point. She was their perfect little angel, after all.
Of course, life rarely gives us perfect happiness.
The little girl who was taught to be dependent on her parents for every little thing suddenly found herself quite alone and entirely devastated when they died in a car crash some time after her seventh birthday.
Lucie's aunt took over guardianship and attempted to care for her traumatized and injured charge the best she could. She walked on eggshells around the girl and couldn't find it in her heart to ever be strict with the poor little thing despite the doctor's recommendations. As a result, Lucie grew up to be tremendously spoiled.
Superpower: Selective Intangibility.
Theoretically, Lucie possesses the ability to render herself intangible, allowing her to pass through matter and energy completely unharmed while at the same time being tangible to interact with what she wishes to. At the heart of it, this power stems from spatial manipulation, manipulating the planes of existence on a relatively small level as the ability can only extend to herself and inanimate objects she is in contact with. It also allows her the capability to disrupt organic matter and electronics by passing through them. An added benefit is that she can camouflage herself to perfectly blend in with her environment.
Weaknesses: Selective intangibility is exactly what is sounds like, rendering her abilities rather limited as to what she can do. Her intangibility can only extend to relatively small objects, and she needs to be in contact with them for it to work. Becoming completely tangible while inside a solid object would injure her, and might even kill her, depending on the molecular structure of said object. While her passing through them would completely damage or disrupt electronics, the most it can do to an organic is to knock them out for a while. Her camouflage ability takes a lot of concentration and is only perfect for as long as she remains still. Once she starts moving, its difficult to constantly keep adjusting her camouflage and she isn't impossible to spot by the slight distortions.
