it sounds like Holden is aromantic - which means he has no romantic interest in anybody. Asexuality is completely different.

the list isn't really determined by personality at all but by sexual + romantic preference, which is why i put him in there under both because a preference wasn't decided on - whether he does end up having a romance or not is your business (if he isn't aromantic), i just placed him on there in case some people would want to pm someone else to talk about relationships but i can take it off :o

An asexual is no harder to romance than anyone else, as long as you define romance as forming an emotional bond based on mutual respect, admiration and what have you, not as mutual exclusive booty rights. So yeah, Holden sounds more like an aromantic (or sociopath) than anything else.

sociopaths and aromance are different :o sorry, i identify as grey-aromantic so that comparison kind of iffs me a little ahaha but its nbd.

but anyways, the difference: sociopaths were not socialized as babies/children (and there's probably more that influenced it, maybe even biologically but not a lot of people know much about it) and so they struggle to identify with certain emotions such as guilt, sadness, and yeah, attachment (romantic or otherwise).

However, aromantic people simply do not experience romantic attraction. It's really hard for them to romantically want to be with someone and it's kind of hard to explain to someone who's not aromantic? Like, a lot of times i mistake feelings of friendship with other people with romantic feelings and a lot of times i think i have a crush on someone when in reality i dont. I know that i dont because when i think of actually dating them and being with them, i feel sort of sick to my stomach? And like I dated this one girl for three days and i had to break it off because i felt ill at ease being romantically involved with her...But I know I have had romantic feelings for people before which is why its grey, because it happens once in awhile depending on the situation.
