Also I feel the need to mention that light plate armor is kind of an oxymoron. While you're not gonna be sort of waddling around like you strapped weights to your back, a suit of plate armor is gonna be between 40-60 pounds generally, albeit it's often so finely crafted that it actually grants more freedom of movement than maille armor does and doesn't feel as heavy as it is, since the weight's distributed. Steel, however, weighs a metric fuckton (amateur blacksmith, steel can be insanely heavy) so you really can't have "light plate" armor. Little weapons/armor nerd rant, sorry >.>

To go off of that, some armor was so well made that NASA was looking at it while designing early space suits (specifically the Apollo suits and King Henry's plate butt armor)

It is good to mention I based Eadwig's equipment based off of his social status. He is a commoner so he likely cannot afford full plate, and the equipment he has is likely gained from savings and from scavenging during war.

This link gives a price for a lot of common medieval items during the Anglo-Saxon period. Notice that a sword in Britain is 24K pounds, and 660pounds in Western Europe, and a horse costs 3k. I am not sure how accurate the prices are, but its a fun thing to take into account if anyone wants to. Of course this is a fantasy roleplay, so we can have whatever we want no matter what so long as it is fun and makes a good story.

We're more or less the resident "Gives too much of a shit about the details" duo for historical accuracy. Although I've more or less just been going with the flow and trying not to nitpick the small stuff. Or the large stuff.

It's fantasy, so eh. Anachronisms abound along with mixing arms and armour from entirely different cultures.

I know how tactics and medieval technology would relate to the current scenario.

But the knights contain a guy with dog ears and tail, someone that got up from a fatal wound, and the setting (it's been on here before) has standard fantasy dungeons. There is only so far I am going to take caring about historical realism.

I don't really mind pointing out accuracy, and it does apply to an extent, but at the same time...

The entire setting is basically inspired by anime and fantasy novels and games and RPGs and stuff. ^^; There's going to be breaks from reality for sure.

I went ahead and read your profile again hunting for some since you asked so nicely. The only one I noticed offhand is that sheriff is used with sort of a more modern/wild west context. The medieval shire-reefe was similar (and, I am not extraordinarily well read on this topic, so I could be mistaken) but more of a position appointed to a local by the crown. If I remember correctly, Magistrate eventually replaced the word Sheriff in the middle ages and is a more accurate description of the office. So, closer to a judge/administrator than an officer?

A magistrate is, I believe, the lowest level of criminal court in England and Wales. Equivalent to the Justice of the Peace. The Scottish Sheriff court is the one above that.

But when I was paying attention to law, it was concerned with contract and negligence, so I don't remember the court structure too well.

Ah yes! That bit was added almost as an after thought. I was thinking almost in terms of Sheriff of Nottingham, but that'd definitely be too significant of a position for Eadwig to have gotten at that age. I actually just did some more research and I think a constable was what I was going for, or whatever Thalns equivalent would be.
