Byrd, any chance the average American citizen (a.k.a. someone who isn't participating in the RP, but following along) could vote? Told you I'd be watching this closely, and now this whole election thing's caught my attention :)

Well I must say this one was close. Wernher had a lot of interesting viewpoints, and went about the Q&A quite tactfully, however in the end I found that Shoe - although at times not seeming concrete enough with his standpoints - better aligned with my (a generic voter) views on the future of this nation. Therefore, I'd like to cast my ballot in favor of Mr. Shoe for the office of President of the United States.

Wernher's shadow Secretary of the Treasury, then.

There isn't a Shadow Cabinet in the American system of government, but the best place for a member of the opposition would be in leadership in the House or Senate.

There isn't an official Shadow Cabinet in the Westminster system of government either.

Very well, leadership in the House or Senate then. I'd prefer the Senate. Would I be the Minority Leader or Majority Leader, as a result of my siding with Wernher?

I am interested. I think the first step you should take, is this. Have everyone create a politician. Don't post what position they want. The politician should choose a political party and state their positions on certain domestic and international issues. Then we as a group decide who should be President. The President should be able to decide who is VP and cabinet members are. Anyone not chosen is either a Senator or Representative in Congress. From a creative writing stand point, I would suggest that we do not limit this government to two parties. That is one of the principal flaws in the American Government. Yes, I have a degree in Political Science. Honestly, I do not want my character to be president, but if elected, I would do a decent job.

If we're going to have multiple parties, why not convert to the Westminster system?

Well, like I've said a few times before, the American government system is the one I know best. I had planned to have "Politician CS's" when I started the OOC thread for people to fill out.

Considering the number of people in the RP, it seems I've lost the vote. Well, I'll recycle myself as a Opposition in the Senate? The thing is, if it is a bi-partisan thing there can only be 1 guy in the opposition, maybe to if we include the house. Everyone else will be executive and thus president align.

Are you conceding?Not everybody's voted yet. I guess what we'll do with non-presidents is square things away with the cabinet people and legislators when I open the game up and have everyone fill out sheets. I'd like to have the Senate and House leadership filled before opening them up to other people joining, but once we fill that role you're free to apply for senator or congressman.

Well, leadership position would have been good, but I'm not picky.

But lets just say I don't believe in trend reversals so I'm not optimistic about this pool.
