Desdemona Taylor
"Des," "Desde," "Stringer's Little Belle"
"My father gave me a small loan of one million dollars. It has not been easy for me." -
Donald Trump
Godly Parent: Hecate, Goddess of Magic and Ghosts
Mythology: Greek Mythology
Age: 18
Gender:Female
Sexuality:Homosexual
Relationship Status:So cut my wrists and black my eyes
Appearance/Typical ClothingAt around five and a half feet and thin, with very little in the way of curvature or muscle, Desdemona does not look like much of anything physically. Though this belies the magical talent she's brimming with from head to toe, she would be the first to confess that she would get her ass kicked in a physical setting. Nothing about her even suggests the look of a fighter - her black-and-royal-blue hair is often finger-combed and thrown over one tanned shoulder, revealed by a sleeveless t-shirt, unbuttoned flannel, or a sweater with a stretched collar. She will never be found without wearing dark colored Robin's Jeans and a studded bracelet and belt.
History:The Greek Gods loved their shapeshifting, especially when it came to seducing mortals. Even the pre-Olympian goddess Hecate found herself a victim of the pastime over the millennia, and her most recent sojourn into shapeshifting came eighteen years ago, in the form of a coupling with an American sorceress that would eventually give birth to Des Taylor. The young girl quickly showed the magical talent of both her parents - along with the surface-level "gloom" of her father and her mother's cheerful oddity.
As she grew up, she ended up growing into a somewhat awkward but capable and independent woman, fiercely proud of her abilities and heritage and determined to keep pushing for more knowledge. That quest, after years of engrossing herself in texts and following up leads, ended up at Shangri-La...through an invite from Hecate (who was apparently a woman, but played the part of a man around Des to avoid confusion; the very explanation spawned confusion) and not through any work of her own. Though smarting slightly at the prospect of all her own time and effort being wasted, Des still took the chance gladly, and began attending Shangri-La that fall.
Powers:- Hivemind: Des can connect her mind with up to six friends, forming an individual shared think-space for the chosen few to talk, share images or thoughts in peace and quiet, without making a single audible noise. Most akin to an advanced form of telepathy.
- Psionic Magic: Des has mastered the ability to cast illusions, move objects, and even hold a slight degree of mental suggestion over those around her.
- Elemental Magic: Des is able to derive strength from, as well as manipulate, the five Western classical elements, and (though less adept) is able to manipulate the elements specific to Chinese Wu Xing.
- Outer Gates Magic: N/A
- Necromancy: N/A
Personality:A geeky girl who (believes she) has mastered the art of acting cool, Des moves through life with a very controlled, calm demeanor that can often border on the caustically deadpan. In reality she is a human slushie, a soft-hearted simp that melts around women, tackles animals in hugs, and bounces around her bed with an iPod Classic in her shorts pocket. Compliments will befuddle her. Pouts will force her to relent. Nonetheless she remains a potent force for evil (read: harmless pranks), often reading aloud incantations for spells she knows full well to be fake, just to see if they convince themselves they're hexed.
