I think 2 is best because we can play around with the sudden power shift within the hyland family and all that drama plus it would be so quick after the king's death we could maybe play with suspicions of another assassination like thoughts of some kind of uprising, going for the heads of the noble houses. It'd certainly put the gully lord on edge haha. Plus they'd be under a microscope as possible suspects.
