The village priest, submitted for your approval. He's devoted to Naram, a god of justice/general good.
Name: Father Mortain Greenfield, Priest of Naram, at your service.
Age: Fifty-two, if you really must know.
Gender: Male of course. I suppose my title would be 'Mother,' otherwise.
Sexuality: Celibate, and that's all I will say on the matter.
Appearance: Well, take a look-
Father Mortain is a fair-skinned human of average height. His hair, although almost totally gray, has yet to thin appreciably. His eyes are brown. Though his youth has long since departed, he is still in good health for a man his age, and makes a point of regular exercise to keep it that way. He is most typically seen wearing a simple brown cassock on his body and nothing on his feet, when the weather allows it. Around his neck he wears the sacred symbol of his order, an emblem depicting a balanced set of scales, cast in silver.
Personality: Well, for one thing I've never much cared for the attitude- prevalent in my order, you understand- that harsh regimentation is the best way to guide a flock. I just don't think that would fly in this village.
I always try to speak kindly, even to strangers and non-believers. Especially to them, in fact. Behaving justly is easily the best way to win converts. Not to mention it's the right thing to do, of course.
Skills: I was trained as a seminarian in the finer points of rhetoric and theology, and received rudimentary instruction in the healing arts. As a boy I was also taught to read and write, to manipulate sums, and I managed to pick up a little bit of herblore as well.
Drawbacks: Might be I'm a little too trusting. I've been called gullible before, after all. I'm a little overfond of imbibing on festive occasions, for which I must do proper penance.
Brief bio: Not much to say, really. I was born here, as any old-timer could tell you. My father worked a plot outside of town, just as his father did, and his grandfather, and so on. My brother and his family work the plot now. And do a fine job of it, I might add.
After reaching adulthood I went off to train for the priesthood in the big city, and spent several years wandering afterward, as is traditional. When my traveling was finished, I was dispatched at my own request back to Winding. Our previous priest in residence- Naram keep him- had died several months earlier, leaving the post open.
I've been tending the shrine to Naram ever since.
I am taking up a collection to repair the roof, if you're feeling generous. Surely you noticed the drip pans in the narthex?
@Mokley I'm a bit confused, I thought this was closed. I'm not opposed to more people joining, but previously we had somebody rejected from here because @Bombardier took the last spot. Seems a bit unfair to me.
I PM'd Mokley last week about joining if/when that might be possible.
I think a couple people from the interest check never migrated over to post characters, and it now seems reasonably certain that they're not going to. At least that was my impression- I could very well be wrong.

I urge you to take a look at that instance once more. The person asked if they could play a god character, I said no. If that person wishes to come back with a more reasonable request at this time, they're welcome to do so.
It's been awhile since the RP started, and only two people have posted! It seems more and more likely that we'll end up with fewer than all of the characters that are registered. If everyone eventually posts IC, that's cool! But in the meantime, getting the wheels rolling is gonna require more than two IC posts. ;)
@Diggerton just making sure I understand, Rowan is the prince of a faraway country who is extremely devout to a god named Skinith, and who was driven out of his country and came to Winding. Right? In this particular rp, gods don't exist -- but that doesn't mean there's no religion. So if you agree that there will be no evidence of Skinith's existence outside of Rowan's own head, then he's approved. :)
@Bombardier hey there! I'd promised five slots, which means that technically there's one slot open. So ok! Feel free to post an application. :)
@VKAllen Sorry, there will be no god characters in this rp -- and Bombardier was a little ahead of you in claiming the last spot. Apologies!
Hey, @BurningCold I'm really honored that you liked this RP enough to make a character for it, but I just don't think it's going to work out. You've instigated a fight once already that has cost us at least one player. Now you've gone and put me on the defensive again. As GM, I have the right to accept, to deny, and to kick players according to my own judgment. I am not obligated to accept and keep everyone who expresses interest.
Thanks for your interest, but I'd appreciate it if you looked elsewhere for a game. :)
@Mokley Ironic, as your next response was going to determine whether I leave or stay anyways. You've saved me from delivering the news myself. I can tell that you're clearly either thoughtless or one to play favorites, and will remove those from your company that seek to call you out when such behavior is displayed. You say I've costed you at least one player, well now you're costing yourself two more. Both myself and Kaiachi will be departing with pleasure. Indeed, the honor is all yours.
I apologize for my absence! Been overwhelmed with my RPs as of late, and I'm having a bit of difficulty in coming up with something to write. Luckily @Bombardier is offering to help with a collab (thank you, darling!) so I can hopefully get something up.
