NameAlexander Reislander
RaceHuman
AppearanceAlexander, to everyone’s definition, is a stick of guy. With short, spiky, untamed hair that would threaten seemed to must threaten to swallow every comb that gets near it. With his blue eyes and hollow cheeks and quite prominent cheekbones he is creepy, but far from intimidating. It would also seem that City Guard reduced their physical requirements to “minimal”. With no real muscle to speak off, Alex is entirely depending on his armor to look even the slightest bit intimidating.
Age31
Former professionFarmboy, then mage guild servant
SkillsMage – During his time as mage guild servant (slave) he was able to go through quite some tomes. As well as got time to study under some lesser mages burdened with the task to teach the younglings. In other words, sip wine while watching how boys went at each other with spells they barely knew and make sure they don’t blow each other up. Some of it rubbed off. Never the good part though. His skills are untested, uncontrolled and most of the time he has but an inkling of an idea what he’s doing.
Animal whisperer – being raised on the farm, Alex knows a thing or two about animals. Living and dead alike, actually. He can easily lead horses through the thin cobbled streets or calm an ox enough so it will move out of the way. When it comes to dead animals, he knows a thing or two about how meat is prepared. Meaning he also knows when they mix something through his ground beef that is definitely not beef.
Read and write - You'd think that such things wouldn't be required but hey, the mages needed him to copy massive books so he had to learn. He wasn't a fast student but did end up knowing how to do it.
PersonalityLazy and far from noble, Alex is in the life to make money. Lots of money. He’s not the most confident bastard, but he can be damn arrogant if he thinks he has to. Which means more often than not he ends up in situations that could be entirely avoided. He’s lazy too, meaning that he’ll always take the easiest, fastest route to get somewhere. But he has limits. He won’t kill anyone innocent (might lock them up though) and doesn’t go after anyone younger than 15. Though, he is greedy meaning he’s abusing his office every damn way he can find.
HistoryAlex’ story is that of the classic farmboy sick of the farm life. He believed the true life of money and women was within the city. Well he wasn’t wrong. But a farm boy wouldn’t get in even if he had the gold, which he didn’t. Still, he went to the city at the age of 16 like a stupid kid and the first night, got his money stolen already. After a week of sleeping in the streets he finally tried to get within the mages guild. Whom saw him just as some other gutter rate and almost closed the door on him. Until some mage’s favorite dog almost ran straight under a coach. Alex was right on time to catch the pooch and the mage, as a form of gratitude let him in.
From here, Alex thought he was set. He was not. Sleeping on tough, over used beds got boring very fast. The endless chores annoyed him to no end and when he asked when he’d learn the really devastating spells, the mage in the library told him he would have more chance that he’d broom the entire guild for the rest of his life than that he’d become a mage. He stopped the next day, but not without sneaking out all the copies of book pages his fellow servants made. He entered the city guard with his arcane knowledge and quickly got through basic training (too fast, actually).
