@Divinity
I'm not in the mood to argue these days, so I'll fix the post.

Literally the same result, just a different execution though.

Edit: Done.

That's fine. If the same result can be achieved then go for it. I'm not inherently confrontational but I felt that was an important factor of my attack.

And before you ask, I can see the possible issue of how he would know where she would be aiming her attack.

Accelerated Thought: Shin's mind is four times faster than a human's mind, his mastery of critical on the fly analysis in combat is terrifying. He can predict where his foe is going to end up the moment that they begin to move.

Just to clarify before another issue arises.

Edit: It's 4:30 AM, I'm a little bit frustrated from tooth pain and I am sorry if I'm coming off Rude. This kind of accidental aggression is what started so many damn arguments early in my RPG career. I'm trying to prevent it.

This is quite tame compared to my other mishaps. This fight has had an amazing progression and build-up. I wouldn't ruin it with petty squabbling, anyhow. But I get your issue. I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth, plus a fifth, removed at once. I was a child of Satan for the weeks I was healing.

I got lucky, my wisdom teeth came in perfectly straight. As did all of my other teeth, my problem is, the skin on my gums is way too thin. And the only way I can keep my teeth clean is by water jet, because I can't brush. I bleed way too much. So when I was younger I did not keep good care of my teeth, I lost one molar and the one on the opposite side is looking to follow suit. It HAD a filling, but apparently fillings aren't made to last ten years? Definitely seems like something that should last a lifetime, but I digress.

Once I wake up I'll pick you apart, right now I can't articulate the single glaring issue with your post.

Edit: Hell I'll try it anyway, something I hadn't realized when I wrote my previous post. Can't believe I let it slip by.

It ain't been a few thousand strikes.

And The Black Staff ain't inferior by any degree.

Now that I think about it, there's a few things that just don't add up. Like for example, how this spell just "Disrupts and destroys the staff because it knows what it is?" When in no way shape or form does the sheet say that it can create a SPELL to do that. Just says it can break lesser weapons.

Now that I really get to reading this sheet, it doesn't say anywhere that they can simply create a spell that Disrupts magical artifacts and destroys them.

She does not require several thousand strikes from an individual weapon. After thousands of interactions, she simply has a vast library of enchantments to rely upon. She has interacted with the staff on at least 8 occasions. Usually three is the number I use.

Edit: Earlier in the fight, she even says she'll need a 'few' more tastes. This is after she had already interacted with it.

Edit 2: I never enforce my laws upon other people. That means I will never outright declare my weapon is superior to another. Corban merely deems his superior. Besting enhanced weapons is entirely a process of her interacting with them and nothing more.

It states she can dual-cast as well. The lightning is not something only limited to her. Its ethereal because she knows that it would destroy whatever metaphysical glue was holding it together. Crystalle could have casted this herself. Ishtalle was simply more active.

Edit: In simple terms, the lightning was a spell cooked up by ishtalle based on information gathered through interactions with the staff, and not wholly based upon her Adaptive Edge ability.

Take note I now cannot sleep because of this roleplay.

So what are you on about? Ethereal magic destroys metaphysical connections? Are you implying Pokémon rules here? Ghost > Psychic? Because other than that I can't find a single legitimate reason for that actually making sense.

Mind you, this is magic and magic has never made sense because it's fucking magic. But what I'm gathering is that you're implying that an Ethereal lightning bolt would totally destroy the psychic and spiritual link between Shin and his staff.

Edit: This also takes into account, somehow, that it is not an incorporeal manifestation o-

Well even if this argument turns out logical in all regards I just figured out my double trump card.

Anyway. Somehow this spell takes into account that it's not just an incorporeal manifestation. It is instead a material manifestation of his will that defies physics by creating matter out of thin air. As well as make contact with material on all planes, in all forms of matter, and the like.

It would not neccessarily destroy the link, but its physical form. Granted this is magic so it cannot be wholly dissected, but we can follow common themes. Most people agree that spiritual attacks and buffs help effect incoroporeal beings such as ghosts and angels. I.E. ghost blades that strike on a spiritual level and such.

Using this logic, one can assume the staff, a wholly spiritual object given form, would be susceptible to equally spiritual attacks, since virtually no physical attack can stop it reliably.

Edit: I never second guessed its physics defying power. But I also assumed it follows some vague semblence of logic. Even if it exists in the material world, it is still spiritual.

@Divinity
Obviously it's susceptible to spiritual attacks. And yes, that is the big secret of the black staff. It's a weapon that, at any point in time, could just phase through yours and punch you in the mouth. It's not designed to be fair, it's designed to kill people.

When I start to get into the physics of magic it's just this awkward circle jerk of different interpretations of how magic even works.

Example. I don't understand the concept of magic flowing through objects of different material planes.

Physical, Spiritual, Psychic connections? Where is the line drawn? A psychic connection would go straight to his brain, and a spiritual connection would go straight to his soul. However, even then when I think about it. The Black Staff and its ability to be remote controlled means that it's a separate piece of his soul manifest.

Like, where is the line drawn between suspension of disbelief and just silly?

Edit: I need coffee if we're gonna continue this discussion, back in like five.

I try to maintain logic to a point that ones suspension of disbelief remains suspended as I push the limits. I try to bring all of my higher dimension attacks down to a real world, relateable source. In this case, its that the ethereal charge would destroy whatever metaphysical (which encompasses both psychic and spiritual planes) bonds allowed the weapon to manifet and do what it does, in the exact same way plasma or fire destroys things.

I like to term it metachemistry.

So it would disrupt the psychic connection and spiritual connection. And just that, correct? The physical statr is just a byproduct of that disconnect. Because as I stated, it's not instant. With how much mass there is, it would still collapse on her before it dissipated. So even if she did the burst perfectly, it would still collapse around her like a burning building.

Another factor that ensures this is how it spreads. It would take a while for it to cross the entirety of it's bulk. Meaning that portions of it are disrupted later than others. Including the furthest points of the rear spikes and overhead claw. At the nearest point of the barrier which was thick enough to to accommodate the blade it would move at its fastest. But because it would have much more to pass through it would take longer.

Hm? I was under the impressiom that the staff was literally composed of his soul, and that's what gave it its physics defying morohic power. If it didnt just liquify or disappear, wouldnt it just stop functioning?

To close it would require conscious control, and my lightning was timed with the opening of the shield. This early on, the trap wouldnt have been properly set up as I recall the timing. At least not to the degree that she'd be in any real danger.

Referring to the most readily available comparison.

In the most easily observable pattern.

Electricity through wood would be a good visual comparison to how it would spread. Even though it seems to move fast, to actually spread across the entirety it takes a while. As a portion of his soul manifest, it would continue functioning until the entirety was disrupted.

Well the lightning is not coursing through the physical medium but the metaphysical. In this regard the staff is literally a lightning rod as opposed to the much less conductive wood.

Even if that were the case, the area closest to her is where the trap is localized, so all the closing portions nearest her would be stopped anyway, and those farther away would not be a threat.

Looking at a real life comparison to how electricity transfers through solid objects, one can assume how magical electricity transfers through magical objects. Obviously the comparison isn't perfect, but it would be much more like a medium-fast burn than a total instant disintegration.
