So from what I've interpreted here, The Vrettonia/Andred Border War pretty much consists of the Vrettonians insulting the Andreds, the Andreds thinking them strange people, and the Vrettonians catapulting farm animals at the Andreds when ever they try to attack.
If you fuckin' believe Andredian propaganda. (But yes).
Whatever you feel prudent, I'm fine with the minimum work possible here. I'm mainly just curious
Andred Andred boasts the largest population and the most vast resources of any human faction. These factors coupled with their ancient Barbarian ancestors and the blessings of the Gods have led to them having the largest and most varied military, as well as being famous for their Knights, Paladins, and Foot soldiers. Their armor is generally fine iron or crude steel. They favor infantry with swords and shields as well as half armored pikeman, bolstered by longbowmen. Their cavarly is generally heavy plated Knights that fight just as well on the ground as they do in the air. Their artillery is second to none (in human terms) though it's often theorized that Praelior can match them. The King has the largest standing army in the Kingdom of 50,000 men, and his lords strength boast numbers between 10-30,000 themselves. This is for those who are professional or part time soldiers. It's estimated that at the nation's full strength of men who are battle ready, it would be over half a million men. Knightly orders of females are not unheard of, and some women have made names of themselves as hardened mercenaries or fearless Paladins/battle clerics. But on average, there is hardly a woman presence in the professional military. The mage guilds that make their home in Andred pay homage by providing their services in times of war to form battle mage units.
Vrettonia Vrettonia is known for its Knights that rival that of Andred, as well as their infantry units comprised of rapiers and bucklers and crossbowmen (though they do have the standard battle units of spearmen, bowmen, and swordsmen). Vrettonia's military strength is at a turning point. Traditionally, the Counts and Countesses would each hold armies of their own, who in turn are beholden to the royal family in a classic vying for power. Now, the military is forming up around the capital, and new envoys are being sent to reduce the number of men sworn to the Vrettonian aristocracy. While women don't play the biggest part in their military, they are not shunned for joining and comprise of about 8%. Many women with a penchant for swordplay choose to become famous duelists instead of attempting to fight in the middle of a bloody conflict, because it's not required of them. In earnest, some men are sworn to go into the military. Women have a choice. Vrettonia has always had a strong mystical tradition, and employs battle mages loyal to the crown, and now the mages council.
Praelior Praelior's military is of moderate numbers but is perhaps the most skilled in single combat and military strategy (this is of course, up for debate). The Praelians admire discipline and skill highly. Due to what the Armadium dictates, every Praelian citizen, men and women, are required 1 year of military training. If they wish to remain in the military after their schooling, they are allowed to and can make that their career, forming 1 of the 5 paths of citizenry. They lack crossbows and heavy cavalry (There is a small number of Praelian 'Knight's called Cataphracts, but their numbers pale in comparison to the other northern nations save Bania), but are famous for their jack-of-all trade warriors who are superbly gifted with both the spear, and shortsword/shield.
Reference of Two Praelian warriors fighting.. They are also famous for their light archers and light raiding cavalry. In times of war, many of the Praelian city states with outfit their citizens with more than 1 year of soldier training with swords, axes, and various other weapons to help fight off invaders. If they still require more troops, all men will be called, and then the women. While they are superb in most things they do, most of their armor and weapons are bronze, with their northern hills holding little in the way of making true steel or many weapons of iron. Praelians are allowed more freedom in practicing magic so long as they get a permit, and the magic soldiers form battle mage ranks when called to war.
BaniaBania's military is centered around its Queen, though throughout the year much of it is them simply guarding their walled villages and towns, and patrolling the pine forests. Men are conscripted into service much like they are in Andred, though women make up about 30% of the military due to their hard nature (and the Queen being an Elf, who's native culture has women being equal or superior). They generally have hardened leather and fine chainmail, with iron weapons, as well as weapons laced with silver to fight off supernatural horrors. Their Counts hold small armies of a thousand that patrol their lands, but the Queen has the true military might. Most mages must be agreed upon by the Queen, though she merely gives them an examination to determine they are not cultists.
Dwarves
The fucking strongest faction, don't mess with them if you want to live. Dwarven armies have little problems with morale or lack of numbers. While their race isnt the most numerous, many Dwarves make their careers as fighters and guards, and all male Dwarves are required 10 years of military training, and all female Dwarves 5 (every 50 years they are tested for their skill. If it's lacking, they're sent to training again). They have the best artillery in the world, the finest heavy infantry and strongest forged armor/weapons. They lack cavalry, and have absolutely no light cavalry. When they do deploy them, they ride upon large rams and warboards, laden with armor. They use crossbows and primitive handguns, so they aren't lacking in range either. They use only runic magic, so while their magic offense is nothing to scoff at and their defense is impeccable, they do not have magical diversity and cannot decide to switch spells mid battle.
I'll add Elves tomorrow if you need them. I'll probably do it anyway, but tis late.
