Kingdom of Jerusalem
Jean de Brienne
Lord-Regent
A proud old Crusader whose cautionary tactics in battle have served him well against the Muslim hordes of the Ayyubid Sultanate. Aged and with his health faltering, the regent is stepping back from his responsibilities as regent and allowing the Royal Council greater control in managing the realm. Nevertheless, he is still regent, and his word is law.
Isabelle de Brienne
Queen
Too young to rule, Isabelle is a content child with much to learn about governance before she takes the throne in six years.
Vassals and Courtiers
Phillipe
Though a man of lesser birth, Phillipe has distinguished himself in the Queen's service as one of remarkable talent for diplomacy. Despite speaking with a lisp, Phillipe is able to charm and beguile many with his easy manners and smooth charm. He is also well connected in the courts of the Holy Roman Empire and France. His panache for statesmanship was recognized by the Chancellor and was made his top emissary.
Yasar
A degree of collaboration between the crown and the Muslim majority has largely been viewed as necessary to rule. Such attitudes gave rise to one such as Yasar to find his way in service to the Queen. A brilliant mind and a genius tactician, Yasar has quickly risen in service to become the leading commander of the Queen's forces.
Richard d'Ibelin
Baron of Ibelin
The baron of Ibelin is known as a fortune builder, seeming to be able to raise ducats from clay. His lordship of Ibelin Castle has made it one of the most prosperous castles in the kingdom. Well liked by all, and a sharp mind for stewardship has made him a well sought adviser to the Steward and his chief agent.
Yasar
Yasar is a man very well connected in the kingdom, with friends spread across realm, and able to enlist valuable sources of information. His keen foresight and connections have propelled him to becoming the leading agent of the Spymaster.
Othon
Bishop of Lydda
Othon is the kingdom's leading philosophic and spiritual minds. His brutally honest perspectives and cautionary disposition make him a leading voice in reason in matters of church, and an avid supporter of the Chaplain.
