Morgana flexed her hand with unveiled curiosity. So magic could do this too? Just where did the power of a true master stop? No matter, she would find out for herself. Pleased with Charles' praise, and slightly jealous of Solomon's chantless cast, she took a deep breath and prepared again. Knife, pain, aura, hand, orb. Both hands were held together and energy gathered between them. For a moment Morgana considering skipping the incantation, or only saying part of it. No, Charles had said the incantation had to be perfect. "I Call apon thee spirit of flame, form before me your power! Fireball!" Morgana chanted these words for the third time and felt the power between her hands swell up with the unbridled rage of fire. But she was ready this time. She held it for several seconds, making sure she was confident in her control of it. It held, her hands didn't burn, the magic didn't explode. Now all she had to do it was throw it and hit a target. Morgana's eyes shifted to the target. It was a little far wasn't it? No matter. Morgana carefully pushed forcefully with both palms towards the target, the orb flew halfway to the target before wobbling unstabily. In that moment Morgana realized she still needed to hold the magic of the orb together, but her efforts were too late and the orb exploded in a gout of flame. Hmph. She needed to maintain the power until it hit its target. That had been her mistake. Focused on her task with grim determination Morgana started again. Knife, pain, aura, hand, orb. "I Call apon thee spirit of flame, form before me your power! Fireball!" Morgana hurled the ball of fire she held at the target and it held long enough to bump into its target, quickly erupting. Morgana let out a grin and a little hiya! of triumph. Hehe, that wasn't soo hard. Morgana's eyes suddenly dropped and she took an unsteady step, though quickly righted herself. That had been more draining than she thought. Not enough to step her, but she needed to be aware of her own limits. Morgana drew forth her power again, though this time merely to check her reserves. Pratically exhausted, probably around a mere 30%. Was this the best she could do? A couple of measly fireballs?

Solomon smiled slightly at the praise. Okay, so maybe he wasn't doing as badly as he imagined. With newfound confidence, he resumed practicing his fireball.

This time, the image came easier. Of course, he got careless initially, and the first few fireballs were so weak, they didn't even reach the target before evaporating into the air. He spent a few minutes focusing on the image, and trying to measure what amount of magic was just right. He realized, that for something like this, it was all about pacing. His earlier blunders taught him that when it came to magic, he had to be aware of his limits, first and foremost.

So after every fireball, he paused, and took note of the feeling. He increased and decreased the power, sometimes he'd try changing the image he had of making a fireball - which resulted in some spectacular failures - and at one point became to overconfident and accidentally burned himself. None of his shots hit the target where he aimed. Some of them missed completely. Eventually, he hit something of an equilibrium.

His limits known, he Solomon stared straight at his target. He formed the image in his head, and broke it, creating a fireball and hurtling it towards his target. For the first time, it hit exactly where he wanted it to. Then he made another, and another, and another.

All of them hit roughly the same area. By the end, Solomon was perspiring and wheezing for breath, and he was well aware he was had hit his limit of casting spells for the day. Still, he looked at what was left of his target and grinned. Not bad, he told himself, not bad at all.

Charles would watch them seeing them progress he would begin to grin slightly, he would heal any injuries caused as they happened, it was a bit awkward when Charles had to heal Solomon since even if it's just healing, grabbing his hand is a bit weird. So he just hovered his hand around and used his healing magic in a bit farther reach. After seeing the hour up and them mostly exhausted he would chuckle. "you all doing better than I imagined you would" he'd state "Impressive... though not to get over your heads, this is just beginner level stuff" he states. "I will tell you both I will primarily only teach you three techniques for elemental magic, after words you will need to find out your own techniques" he tells them as if it's simple. "Most Magic users tend to find themselves through various experimentation, they begin to make an image for themselves" he would look at the sky "Then they tend to embrace this image and work with it" he simply says. "So it's important that early on we find out what is most unique about you before it's to late in or else you may become weak and limited" he says looking back at them.

"You can imagine how I went out on my aspect that caused me to eventually be called the Dragon" he says "I got into studying beasts, magical ones specifically and eventually built my dragon hatchery and in no time had dragons by the truckload, of course I didn't start with dragons I did use other beasts beforehand" he says waving his hand dismissively. "The healing magic I've been using is a special magic by combining aspects from Light and Water elements" he tells them "It's a simply magic everyone should eventually learn, those some tend to specialize in it" he says. "You'll know what magic is your specialty when you first experience it, but there is no guarantee when you will do so" he tells them. "now you've learned the Ball spell even if you only have used the element of fire, it's a similar concept in order to lean the other ball spells" he says simply "You simply need to switch the elemental part of the corresponding element.. The is also Wall spells that creates a wall of the specific element, not very good at prolonged use but good at quick defense, then there is the Arrow spells, the element is charged into the form of an arrow granting it a lot higher offensive power" he tells them.

"Now since you both are mentally exhausted and mostly physically exhausted... lets get running!" he says with a devilish grin, at the start he may seem like a demon but he knew what he was doing more than they did, and he wasn't going to let one of his new apprentice(s) die because of them being unable to handle the physical strain that came with handling magic. "We will be doing laps between the four seasons here in the valley" he says "2 Kilometers will be good enough to start.. almost two miles" he simply says. "one lap is a mile on it's own, not including the terrain influencing you from the four seasons" he says with a grin.

Morgana glanced at Solomon as he hurled fireball after fireball. All chantless. He'd used more then her too. Bastard. She refused to let him surpass her. Next time she'd use chantless magic too, it couldn't be that much more difficult. Ball, wall, and arrow. Charles explained that everyone learned a specilization. Interesting. She would have make sure to find it soon, perhaps before she went to sleep if they still got that. It would be good to make sure she was totally burned out before she went to bed to make the most use of her magic reserves. Regardless it was time to run. Morgana took a few deep breaths and started jogging. Two kilometers. It wasn't that far. Of course running through snow, sun, wind and rain wouldn't be that great but it luckily running tended to keep oneself warm. On that note Morgana wondered if she could fill her aura with fire to keep herself warm. Charles had said you could use the aura as a barrier to protect yourself right? Though she was mostly on the dregs of her magic she could use what she had in the worst terrain to keep herself warm. Definatly worth a shot, though Morgana didn't feel confident enough to put fire into her aura, not knowing what the results would be. Something to ask about later.

The glow Solomon felt from casting magic died out, and the tired smile on his face was replaced with one of abject horror. He swallowed deeply, and eventually let out a dejected sigh.

Of course they had to go jogging. Despite his body's anguished protest, the boy took one step forward and began jogging. He was never the most athletic person around. Oh, he wasn't unfit, and he did do sports occasionally, but right now he was just tired - casting those fireballs took more out of him than he thought.

Barely 1 kilometer later, and Solomon was already struggling to walk. At the end of two kilometers, he looked like dehydrated grape. A dehydrated, damp, and frozen grape.

"Whyyyyy was I born~!" he wailed exaggeratedly as he collapsed in a heap, at the end of his jog.

Morgana glanced backward at Solomon's woeful wailing with a barely hidden sneer. Seriously? She stopped for a moment and called back to him scornfully, "Obviously not to use magic if you're going to give up that easily." What sorta of challenge would it be beating somebody that gave up this easily? It wouldn't even be fun to rub her victory in his face if he was like that. Not to say Morgana wasn't tired as well. She may be used to running for her life but generally those were short bursts through crowded city streets, not long distance treks across wild terrain of every nature. She'd definitely slowed down significantly since the start, but was still going; a run like this wasn't going to stop her. Making her shield dense enough to protect her from the cold and other inclement weather had been difficult and she'd drained herself by this point, but it seemed to have served its goal well enough when it had been up. She'd definitely have to experiment with adding elements to it later, perhaps that would also provide a more effective defense against attacks. After all a water shield should help more against a fire arrow than a pure magic shield right?

Charles would be running along side them watching, though he would be running backwards like it was nothing, it was clear he wasn't even using magic to so either. He would chuckle some at Solomon "Well that's what happens when you tire yourself out before we even started running.. I did tell you we was going to do so" he states with a sigh "While it is good pushing yourself to your limit, it's not good to push yourself past that" he says shaking his head. "Well come on you two" he says as he begins walking back to the cabin "We will have dinner, then you two will have two hours of free time before curfew to be in bed" he simply states "I expect you both to be awake by 5 AM tomorrow" he says "When you wake up first thing you will do is take care of your eggs, spend at lest 30 minutes with it before heading to breakfast, then we will return to training" he states to them.

When they arrive back at the cabin Charles would go inside, a new table would be inside that wasn't there when they entered before, and the table would be covered in food, of all kinds. They'd notice goblets, plates, and utensils all floating to the table like invisible things was carrying them. Charles would of course sit at the head of the table, "Just think of what you want and it will be brought to you" he states "Including drinks.... NO ALCHOL" he would state his face being extremely serious. he would then seem to wait for a plate of... pizza to land infront of him and he'd chow down, then a second plate.. then a third... eating three entire pizzas, while drinking from his goblet appearing to be some kind of soda.

Morgana was surprised Charles was so alright with Solomon giving up, she'd expected some kind of devilish punishment if they'd stopped honestly. Well, it wasn't like it bothered her any. She followed Charles back to the cabin unsure what to expect for dinner. He was obviously powerful enough he could have whatever he wanted but she wouldn't be surprised if he gave them bread and water. What did surprise her however, was the floating silverware and they being told they could eat whatever they wanted. Literally whatever they wanted. And however much of it too. Magic was truly astonishing. Morgana stared at the plate in front of her just imagining the possibilities. Then she got down to business. Several strips of bacon appeared on her plate and vanished just as fast. Chicken, hamburger, eggs, everything Morgana had ever heard of. To compliment the food was a surprisingly unexotic choice of milk. Morgana eventually began slowing down and she paused for a moment. A slice of birthday cake appeared, some sort of white bread with chocolate frosting, complete with candle. Morgana looked embarrassed for a moment, as though she'd just revealed some childish part of herself and quickly consumed it, leaning back in her chair with a sigh of content. She hadn't been this full in. . . Ever.

All Solomon could do in response to Morgana's snips was chuckle lightly. She wasn't wrong, after all.

Well, no time like the present, he thought as he forced himself up. He began moving, but at a decidedly slower pace. It was practically walking really, but at least he was moving. After a moment, they were recalled back to the cabin, and Solomon sighed in relief. His body wasn’t just protesting; it was practically rioting in pain.

Still, he had to admit, the pain became practically vanished the moment he caught sight of the feast laid out for them. Dinner had never looked so heavenly before. Without further preamble, Solomon dug into his meal.

As he ate, he noticed a birthday cake appear in front of Morgana. The girl seemed flustered for a moment, before quickly devouring it. Strange.

“Oh, is it your birthday today?” he asked smiling politely.

Charles would pay slight attention to what his apprentices choose to eat, and they seemed to have thought the food was made out of nothing same for the drinks, he'd chuckle lightly to himself. The fact was the invisible servants was getting the food for them, from other places in the world. such as popping into a pizza joint and grabbing the pizza, and so on. He would soon get up "Alright, you all now can do as you wish for a few hours.. approximately two judging by the time" he tells them "Then all to bed and be up early!" he states and walks away from the table seeming to vanish into thin air like he faded away though he was just moving incredibly fast to his chosen destination.

Morgana cheek's colored breifly and she looked at the ground. "Well. . . No. . . Its just- I've never had birthday cake before okay?" The first words were poken quietly under her breath, however the last part was pratically shouted defiantly, as though she'd been accused of doing something wrong. She sat for a second or two suprised by her own outburst. A short "Hmph! was given and she stood up and began walking to her room with long, hurried, strides, despite the soreness that was still present from the run.

Solomon stared after Morgana. He already thought she was cute at first glance - though being attracted to her was the furthest thing from his mind - but just at that moment, he also found her equal parts endearing, and somewhat . . . sad? No that wasn't the right word, he thought. There wasn't anything "sad" about her, not with how tough she was and how rough her personality is. But the moment those words left her mouth, Solomon couldn't think of how lonely they sounded.

"Ah . . . yeah, lonely's the word."

"I see," he muttered similarly under his breath, as he watched her walk back to her room. It wasn't any of his business, so he wouldn't pry - but he knew there was a story behind that. Only time would tell if something came of it.

Getting up, Solomon nearly flinched as the earlier soreness returned vindictively. Ignoring how tired he was, Solomon made way for the training ground. He would rest soon - his body wasn't really giving him a choice here! - but there was something he needed to test out. Remembering the lessons from earlier, Solomon inhaled deeply, feeling his magic run through him. It was easier now that it was at the start of the day. He conjured a fireball on the palm of his hand. Rather than throwing it immediately, however, Solomon let it stay and stretched out his other hand, while straining the limits of his concentration.

He recalled what Charles told them earlier. This "Ball" spell was the basics of the basics. As a spell, one could use practically any element with it, all one had to do "switch" the corresponding element . . . now that was something he found interesting. He focused on his free palm, and used the feeling of the fireball spell on his other hand as reference.

The image of his chain breaking was what helped him form the fireball, so what if he tried changing the image? Rather than breaking, he pictured the chain flowing, from one link into another. For added measure, he decided to include a chant as well, with a small modification.

I call upon thee spirit of water, form before me your power! Waterball!" he said, dispersing the fireball in his right hand and focusing all sensation on his left, preparing for what would happen next.

As Solomon attempted to create the waterball equivalent, the spell would seem to start to form, the chant doing most of the forming work but as water seems to gather from the air, the waterball which was becoming misshaped, would suddenly stop and fall splashing on the ground. his magical energies not being given enough time to recharge to cast a brand new spell along with the one they learned before. Thanks to his experimenting he would of found out the chant is similar for the other spell with the minor difference of changing the element name part, at very least for the water spell. though It would not work the same way with the Earth and wind equivalents because their ball's spell name is different than one would imagine from figuring out the fire and water spells.

Morgana's room would be just like she left it earlier. Besides her bed having been completely remade from her laying on it earlier. She could feel her egg calling for attention, since it was left there pretty much the entire day while they trained.

Morgana went to her egg feeling somewhat relieved at the odd and somewhat new feelings, of being wanted. She rubbed the egg gently and let out a sigh of relief at being alone. "Exhausting. This is good, I'll become strong, but this is seriously exhausting." Morgana said to the egg, not caring for it's lack of response. At a whim Morgana gathered a thin layer of magic, infused it with the slightest amount of heat and put it around the egg. Dragons liked heat right? Plus it was a good chance to get a little bit more practice before she went to bed.

Solomon smiled ruefully, feeling the drain on his senses. "Ah, I guess that was a bit too early . . ." he said. With a deep breath, Solomon walked back to his room, where his egg was waiting. It had simply sat there the whole day - a pretty lonely way to spend the day, in his opinion. Well that was partially his fault, so he may as well spend what little time he had remaining before he went to bed with it.

Still, what to do . . . ?

"Hey there," he said conversationally. Solomon supposed he looked a bit ridiculous talking to an egg, but there was no one there. Also, dragons. "My name's Solomon. You probably can't understand a word I'm saying yet, but . . . it's nice to meet you. Sorry for not seeing to you sooner. It's been a long day. Say, why don't I tell you a bit about it?" he ended, grinning sheepishly.

He decided to treat it as his silent companion for the night, and talked about the life-changing - at least for him - events that had happened this day. Not the least of which was obtaining the egg for a companion. He smiled, wondering what kind of dragon it would be, hoping that when it hatched they would be able to get along.

Their time would pass... it would be the appointed time before long and a loud siren like sound would echo through the building in order to awaken the apprentice(s) and make sure they are up on time. Their master would already be eating breakfast waiting for them.

Morgana wokeup with wide eyes and sat up suddenly from the piercing sound. Looking about for any sort of danger a few seconds passed before she let out a slow breath of relief. So it wasn't a dream. This whole time she'd had a secret fear that when she woke up she'd find out everything was a lie. Morgana dressed herself in her robe and patted the egg lightly before heading back to the the table. It seemed the same meal plan was in effect. Reveling in the ability to eat whatever she wanted and knowing she could likely use all the food she could get today: Morgana gave a subued good morning to Charles. Then she summoned and quickly tore through a mounds of pancakes liberally drizzled in syrup along with a several cups of some fruity substance that, although she didn't know it's name, was apple juice.

Solomon stretched out of his bed with a loud groan. Rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes, he showered and dressed before passing over his dragon egg. "Mmm . . . Morning partner," he said, patting the egg lightly. "Another day, another day."

Taking a deep breath to start the day, a smile grew on his face as the grogginess from just having awoken faded away, replaced with a giddiness that refused to go away as he realized with renewed clarity that he was here. Here at the manor of a master mage, who was actually teaching him magic - and Dragons! Actual, terrifying, wonderful dragons!

Still giddy, Solomon walked towards the dining area, and found Charles and Morgana already eating. Well, Morgana wasn't so much eating as she was inhaling food.

"You'll get a stomach ache if you eat too much at once you know?" he told her, slightly amused at the sight of a girl a head shorter than he was putting away that much food.

Charles would nod towards Morgana as she paid attention to his presence before she went to eat. He'd go back to eating before Solomon arrived, he'd raise a brow at Solomon when he spoke to morgana first. Charles would finish his own food pretty quickly. "..After you finish your breakfast, spend time with your dragon eggs" he tells them "do as I told you yesterday, afterwards we shall meet back outside at the firing range." he states "For continued magic lesson and practice" he tells them. "After words we will do some special studies before taking our run" he states as he gets up and walks out.

Morgana sneered, "Nuhuh, you only get stomach aches for not eating enough." Not that she knew that, but she only'd ever had her stomach hurt due to not eating. Besides this was all you can eat, it'd be stupid not to take advantage of it. Her attention flickered to Charles. Dragon time, more magic and some sort of studying. Ugh, it probably wouldn't be that bad. Morgana finished off her food with a contented sigh. Being full was such an odd feeling and not an unpleasant one at that. With that she headed back up to her room and moved next to her dragon egg and stared at it. Spend time with it hm? How exactly? Just sit next to it and do nothing? It wasn't like they could do pet bonding things given it was still in the egg. While thinking she reached out with her marked hand and slowly rubbed it. It was oddly soothing and Morgan found her thoughts slowing. In another few moments she slowly, without really thinking about it, created a thin veil of aura around herself and the egg. Morgana remained like this, slowly taking silent, calm breaths while slowly moving her hand back and forth across the egg, in some between a coma and meditation.
