Whew...what a weekend! Anyway, I'm glad to stick my head into Pieces and see we have wonderful activity :). I myself am blissfully sunburned and scarred from a bout of orienteering. That and I somehow think I'm still full from junk food over the holiday weekend. It is strange how filling a chocolate rabbit can be when eaten in one sitting...

Sorry for the silence; been working on this the last few days:

It's a Pukko-Inspired blade (Traditional Finnish knife). 1084 steel heat treated in a makeshift charcoal forge. The grip is from what I believe to be a chunk of old black walnut from a log found beneath a barn. The real beauty of the grain doesn't show in the picture. The white strip is a bit of deer bone... I think it was a pelvic bone. All in all pretty satisfied for my first attempt. I'll be back to writing again tomorrow -- Tuesday!

Oh, very cool, Wordsmith. So you forged that from stock steal completely? I'll admit I have no idea about smithing, but that looks awesome.

Wow...very nice Wordsmith. Yea. That took some time. Have you done many? I'm a wood guy too but haven't even tried metal.(except tractor parts and shovels) Hummmmm....

Well, it's ground down from a flat piece of stock steel, but the only forging, per se, is the heat treatment -- hardens the metal so it can hold an edge; I.e., I didn't actually beat on anything with a hammer, just lots and lots of filing and sanding. Then tossing it in the forge and crossing my fingers that it didn't warp between the heating and quenching. Then more sanding.

And it's my first experience of this sort with metal too, Tirg -- and one wood guy to another -- if you can freehand sand a piece of wood consistently, you can do it with metal too. It just takes more passes, so in a way it's more forgiving.

Wow..you know I never had the urge to work with metal but damn if you just didn't spark that interest. Fire and sanding? I could get into that. Thanks.

The knife is really lovely, Wordsmith. I work with neither wood nor metal, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the craftsmanship of both, and your knife looks elegantly lethal as well.

And on top of all that, so many fantastic reads of late too - so much to enjoy ICly and OOCly

Hey all, how is everyone today? I'm working up the next post even now, so never fear. Anyone have any great plans for the coming weekend?

Drugs, alcohol and violence. Then a memorial service for the dead just to cap it all off. Chances of me posting before Monday are slim, but not altogether impossible! Whatever the case, I'm all set up to glean plenty of inspiration from the insanity of the upcoming weekend.

Ahhh to be young!

Yeah postings! *big ol' grin*

And if I can finish my homework between tonight and tomorrow? I'm going to spend the weekend doing nothing at all to do with school. Not sure what that is quite yet, but let me assure you, it will be glorious!

I have class one day and plans for breakfast with a friend another day. So nothing exciting but pleasant nevertheless.

I was thrilled to see some posts from Sir this morning, such fun. I should be able to post today or tomorrow. Now we just need to rescue Dot since the person she's waiting on won't be posting for a bit. .

FANTASTIC posts Heroes *anticipation* XD

But only to add to what Lil just said - does this mean Hellis, that you won't be posting for a little over a week now, or were you intending to try to respond to Dot's post before you go on your trip? Well, silence is always an answer too, but we won't leave Dot in the lurch no matter ;)

On a more serious note, have fun with the camping/larping combination! And Mmmmmm, good to see some nice new posts this morning. Who needs coffee when you have posts like these to read?

I still do, because coffee is mortal ambrosia. But don't let that demean the comparison.

And ah...sorry...but I posted, thought, and then edited just a little. Got my order of things off I guess. Should have thought and then posted.

But then...edits are easy.

I laughed hard, and honestly stopped for a moment to go see if that was really a thing he wrote >.> And then laughed at my blonde moment XD

And yes Dot, that is the Veiled World version in Veti-form, of the silent eyeball plea from a girlfriend, begging you to come join her in the lady's room because it's safer to travel in pairs ;) If that's not enough, it's all righty, just let me know!

Good morning all, and hope everyone is doing just fine today! So who's got plans for the day? Or new plans? Or just some spontaneous fun? Already had a chance to enjoy Spring this morning for a couple hours on a little forested trail - at the very least, may the weather be just as fine where you are!

No plans here, but I did just eat my new favorite thing in the entire world (Banana slices smeared liberally with almond butter and sprinkled with unsweetened coconut) and I have a latte beside me so my day is looking mighty fine despite no exciting plans.

Oh and I get to shop for text books today, envy me, you know you all want to!
