I find it funny that you guys didn't know Log Horizon is a light novel series adapted into an anime. I mean what popular anime series isn't these days?

To be fair, the majority of LN adaptations are terrible... There are a few standout exceptions, but generally if I see that a series is an adaptation, I know that there's going to be pacing issues (SAO...), shallow jokes that only work in novels and a general dearth of the thing that makes anime great: panty shots.
