Overview

Humanity is on the brink of extinction. It has been four months since the opening of Elysium, a box many believed was the answer to one of the greatest questions in the world; Is there truly a God?. So-called prophets spoke out, claiming that should the box ever be opened, the rapture would begin and those who had not repented for their sins would go to hell. As usual, they were disregarded, ignored like madmen and women. But, little did the world know, they weren't to far off from the truth because in scribed in old Hebrew, was a phrase, or better yet, a warning.

SHALL THIS BOX, SEALED BY MICHAEL, THE GENERAL OF THE ANGELS HIMSELF, BE OPENED, THE WORLD SHALL PLUNGE INTO DARKNESS AND DESPAIR, AGONY AND PAIN, FEAR AND DEATH.

However, no one had heeded this warning and opened it to examine what it contained. Unfortunately, what it contained were the gates to Hell itself. The gates were now unlocked and all but in the matter of one day, Jerusalem fell. Slowly and surely did the Middle East began to fall until it was all but covered in darkness shortly followed by Eastern Europe and Asia. Slowly did the legions of hell begin to make their way across the lands of Europe enveloping towns, cities and countries. Armies could not penetrate their ranks. Guns and cannons could only do so much but unknown to the people of the world, a powerful group, all who thought disbanded, laid in the shadows, awaiting the time they would be needed again and this would be the time. The Vatican congregated and agreed that now was the time to act. The church bells begun to ring, seven hundred and seventy-seven times. The sounds of these bells would be heard by the other churches as they too would begin to ring theirs. Calls had been made across the world and told that the time had come to step out of the shadows and into the light. It wasn't until the Battle for Blackforest did anyone believe that humanity would survive. It would be the largest battle for civilization in the history of the world. Just as they were losing hope, the sounds of drums and horses echoed through the battlefield. For on this day, 10,000 men, riding horses and wearing shining suits of armour, brandishing swords and shields, axes and hammers, bows and arrows with a flag adorning the Templar cross flapping wildly in the wind, charged into the fray and begun fighting, seeming to swiftly bring down the hordes of darkness with minimal effort. It was on this day, that humanity regained some kind of hope.

So...You will be apart of this group of Templar, hoping to return the darkness from once it came. The start of the RP will take place at the turning point, The Battle for Blackforest. From there I don't know, I will get there when it's time.

Rules

So there will be a few rules for obvious reasons but I find them fair.

1: Respect the rules of RPG. This is the first commandment and shall be abide by. Breaking these rules (including the ones below depending severity) result in termination of your character in the dumbest way I can (like, say, an arrow to the knee).

2. GM team has final say. Always. However, I am open to ideas and suggestions to better enhance the experiences of the players.

3. One-lining not acceptable. Two lining isn't either. In fact just write two paragraphs. Beware the gore; yes, it's allowed but don't overdo it. I really do not want to come under fire by the moderators. xD

4. Consistency is KEY!!!! I expect you to be able to post AT THE VERY LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I will also reward players with either better equipment, higher ranks or (when I DO implement it) divine abilities. I am on pretty consistently so if you need to go or something happened IRL, just give me a buzz either in OOC or PMs. Don't need to tell me why because...privacy but I do expect a notice that you will be absent. Otherwise arrow to the knee death.

5. No goddmodding, powerplaying or making shit up in the IC . Characters WILL die. No one is safe, not even my own. I never had the chance to kill a character so I'm hoping that I can. Also this doesn't mean that if your character dies you're done. I encourage and highly recommend multiple characters for this very reason. Also we're all human, I intend to make this as realistic as possible (minus the demon hell bullshittery)

6. Play nice. I want you all to have fun. There is no reason you shouldn't.

Factions

So there are going to be factions to this RP such as defferent types of Templar Knights and such (I am also aware that some may basically be the same thing or ARE the same thing but I don't care xD). So lets get into them.

Templar Knights

The largest group of the Orders. Lead by the Grand Master Knight, they are the frontline fighters of the three factions and specialize in Calvary charges and flanking maneuvers both on horseback and on foot. They are mostly made up of clerical men, deacons, ministers and priests. Not much else is known of them besides their history and the mysterious aura that follows them. Many are also apart of the Masonic Temples of the Freemasons.

Teutonic Knights

The Order of the Teutonic Knights are the brother order of the Templars. Most in this group are Monsignor and up in the church with a few being in the priesthood. Smaller in number, they are more adapt to combat, having seen more battles that most Templar Knights. They are the ones who will keep fighting until they cannot hold their weapon or they draw their last breath. Their style of fighting is much more aggressive than their Templar counterparts. Their leader is known as the Field Maestre and usually is older and of experience.

Ladies of Mary

The Ladies of Mary are first and fore most nuns of the Church. They are known to help out those who are homeless, helpless and in need of guidance. However, as gentle as the wind as they are, they are just as violent as a torrent. The Ladies of Mary are a branch off of the Templar. Their highest ranking leader, The Fair Maiden, has been in the Order since her birth and many have been recruited the same way. Trained in a fighting style known as the Dance of Gabriel, they are swift, graceful and cunning and use a multitude of weapons from daggers to swords and to utilities like holy water, oils and incense.

Et Pertingens Ore Dei

Et pertingens ore dei, consider this group the secret Order among the Orders. They are recruits of all religions and of both genders. These men and women are the ones sent in behind enemy lines and ordered with missions that are considered suicide. Considered the best of the best and masters of many fighting arts, they are also in charge of smaller groups of both Templar, Teutonic and Ladies of Mary alike. The groups leader is known as "Nephilim" and considered the strongest and most experienced fighter of the group.

Notable Figures

Father Felix Andersen (Templar Knight)

Fr. Felix Andersen of Gothenburg, Sweden has been in the Order since he was very young, learning both about the word of the Lord and the holy sword. Since the age of three, his Uncle, Bjorn Ostberg, a Monsignor in the Vatican, took him under his wing and taught him all he knew. By the age of 19 he had become intermediate with a broad sword and efficient in dual wielding. He was 28 when the bells tolled seven-hundred and seventy-seven times only known to the Templars as "The Call". Due to his prowess in combat and his charisma, he was placed in charge as a captain of a cavalry unit. He is not only recognized by his armor but by his horse, Equites, a white horse embellished with Templar insignia and armor.

Grand Master Angelo Munichi

Angelo is the Grand Master for the Templar Knights. He had been in the order and with the church for just over 40 years since the age of 20, placing him around the age of 63. His family had been apart of the Masonic temples for a long time and its sub-branch, the Order of the Templar knights. By the age of 18 he had entered into priest hood after years of working for the church through volunteer work as well as choirboy work. Once he was in, he had studied and studied, and conducted mass after mass until one day, Archbishop McCaffrey offered him a position as an exorcist. After much thought he decided to accept the offer and begun his training by the age of 30. Since then he had been not only a holy warrior with the skill of the axe, but a holy warrior armed with the word of God. When Elysium was opened and after the governments of the world could not handle . He immediately made his way to the Pope who simply told him In ordine evocant. It was then did he call for the bells of war. He is a simple man, wearing the basic infantry armor but with a more stylized cape and tunic.

Once taken away by child protection services and adopted, never managed to readjust - public school and the behavior of people there was a horrible disaster and a grave insult to all the bestest christian virtues instilled into him by the biological parents. Attempts at arson were unsuccessful, but therapy was - or so the loving and dedicated adoptive parents thought. Things went downhill at the age of nine, when he suffocated his foster brother with a pillow after catching him masturbating. Went into hiding afterwards. Picked up by an operative of the Order investigating a string of vicious murders of prostitutes and drug dealers in the gutters of Marseille. There, he finally fit in. Training and trials were undertaken with infinite dedication and readiness. In active duty since the age of 14.

Personality: Fanatically devoted to the Cause. Deeply religious in all the wrong ways - which makes him ready to sacrifice anyone and anything for the sake of the Order. His deep and earnest belief in the scriptures, his piety and his disgust and fear and hate of all things impure would become serious emotional handicaps and insecurities if he would've been raised in a normal family - but the Order took great care tempering, strenghtening and empowering his belief and his devotion. Thus, mental instability and potential weakness was reforged into a great suit of mental armour of arrogance and fanaticism. In the name of all that is good and holy, Darrieux has no doubts, no inhibitions and no limits - if work of the Order requires horrible atrocities commited dishonorably and without any chances, he'd gladly fulfill the request, possibly condemning himself to posthumous damnation - of course, not without carefully considering whether this task is worth the good it'll bring eventually.

Weapons: A garrote woven from the hairs of fair Absalom, son of David. The thick, rough strands absolutely can't be torn, do not burn, and, once touching the neck of a victim who has commited even a single sin against the God, entwine around their throat with supernatural force, depriving the wicked of the first gift God has given to the first man - the breath of life. An arming sword of carbon steel, utilitarian and without any embellishments. A small arsenal of various firearms, in order to smite the sinners from afar, in the image of God striking down those that deny him.

Armor: Concealed carry bulletproof vest, the best money can allow. Whenever order requires his sword-hand at the battlefield, he comes clad in a set of hi-end riot gear, painted with all colours of the rainbow, just like the shirt of great Joseph.

Appearance: Warren stands around 5'9" and weighs 165 lbs. He is visible muscles, but he's not as big as a body builder. After all, he needed to be fast but strong enough to get out of a pinch. He has dirty blonde hair and light brown eyes which is usually covered with glasses when he's in casual mode. He has many whip scars on his back, looks pretty deep even now that it has healed. There are other scars on his chest and abdomen but they look more like knife scars than whips. No one knows for sure since he doesn't share much about it.

Faction: [Perhaps part of the Et pertingens ore dei?]

Bio: Warren was an orphan, left at the door of one Templar when he was just a baby. It was understandable that he was trained to become one of them, part of the Order. The blonde was quite a natural when it came to archery so they majored him on that. He was taught a lot of holy things and was taught not to give in to vices. He understood everything really. He was soon enough inducted to the [enter faction here]. Although there weren't really too many orders for him and he was given free reign over his life. But he was ordered to try and exterminate any of the demons he could see and convert people to do good things. And so there he is, a bartender in the local bar, helping out stressed out people. The bar itself is pretty normal. Just a couple of drinks here and there so it isn't really anything bad.

There are times where he would be called up to do something. When the bells tolled, he left the bar and immediately headed to his house to take up his armor.

"It's that time now eh? Well, time to take up arms and take back our land."

With that, he left the country and headed for the main church in the Vatican to give his aid.

Personality: Most wouldn't see him as the type to fight since he is naturally good-natured and fun to be around. He loves helping other people despite his intimidating neutral aura. He would often laugh with people. He absolutely loves kids and would often fabricate stories of people fighting off demons. Fabricated stories about the Templars fighting off these monsters with the holy light that has been given to them by God. People often thinks that he's just preaching the word of God to kids so everyone took him with a grain of salt. No one knew that what he was talking about was actually real.

There are some priests who he detests so much. Those priests who uses their title to do something horrible. He would often tell this to the head in Vatican City, through letters. After all, he was working undercover to find these kinds of people. Scum aren't only found in the streets.

Weapons: A bow that has been said to be blessed by a holy figure back in the time. His name has not been given to Warren, or any of the previous holders of the bow. It is said to be that it vanquishes evil with only one swift strike and helps the wielder of the door (should they be worthy) with aiming at the most vital points but none of the archers are sure if this is true or if they're just skilled. A short sword hanging from his side.

Armor: [See picture above] Blessed by the church, the armor is pretty tough. Although underneath it is an old reliable chainmail, given that most of their enemies use swords, this was just right. The bracers and grieves are actually made of light but durable metal which is good for protecting and stealth/speed.

For the rp itself it's mostly people of the church ranging from deacons to bishops and volunteer clergymen and women. The EPOD are made of all religions. You can also just be like a freemason who answered the call but keep that in your background.

I wouldn't doubt that there would be some who were skeptical about religion or flat out atheist but if you want to go in that direction I dont mind just be sure to explain their reaction to the events that unfolded and whatnot and why they decided to join.

Bio:
In truth, besides his history with the Society for Creative Anachronism and participation in the Armored Combat League, Michael hasn't lived a very interesting life. He has spent most of it working jobs of labor, building houses and such. However he was always fond of knights, of tales of battle and glory as men fought against men in the heat of war. This coupled with his distaste of modern firearms lead him to the SCA at an early age. It was here that he really felt alive, people just talking, feasting, and fighting all in one place. From here, he just flourished into his own. But fast forward about two decades and we end up here.

At those first moments when all Hell broke loose, Micheal knew nothing but fear and panic. He just didn't know what to do. Everything he once doubted had come to confront him in his own home and it all boiled down to... "Well...Shit." Like many he found a rough solace in the local church, the "Demons" generally leaving the place alone with only the most stubborn getting anywhere near the door. However whatever little peace was shattered with the screams of a woman. She was being torn apart, everyone could see it, but what drew Michael's eye was the child that tried to run away, falling over himself in fear and grief. The only thing going through Micheal's mind was "By God, it's going to kill him," and somehow that was the final straw. In a fit of rage he grabbed a heavy golden cross and charged out of the church, in the moment his life didn't matter as long as he could save the kid. Just before the beast could pounce onto the boy, Micheal struck. The heavy cross felt good to swing, it was satisfying to hear the head crunch under the blow, and it never stopped feeling as good as he stuck it again and again until there was nothing left of the head but paste.

The kid didn't leave Micheal's side at all while they stayed there, always looking at him with awe when he wasn't in the throes of mourning. Soon after the event, the Preacher came to Micheal with an offer.

Personality:
A generally grim and stoic man in the face of extinction, Micheal is nonetheless a careing man deep down. There is nothing more he wants to do than go back in time where he could laugh with friends and maybe ask out that girl who tended the bar he frequented. However now is not the time for regrets and he soldiers on. Micheal's moral compass is a strong grey tinged white, for doing the right thing isn't always the lawful thing and he is always willing to turn a blind eye to a man stealing food to feed family. In addition he completely detests the idea of doing horrible actions "For the Great Good", believing that should we start sacrificing people left and right that we might as well just roll over and die. Winning this war shouldn't come at the cost of our Humanity.

Weapons:
A 51 inch bastard sword made from S7 Shock Resistant Tool Steel, blessed by the Vatican.
An iron shield emblazoned with a black cross
Not a weapon per say, but Micheal has kept that gold cross strapped to his hip.

Armor:
Blessed plate mail on top of a suit of chain mail, heavy but very effective protection.

Horse name and appearance: A large black Clydesdale simply known as "Horse". This beast is mostly for burden as Micheal doesn't actually know how to ride a horse all the well, let alone ride one into battle. It is notable that Horse is solid black with only a single white patch of fur in between its eyes shaped vaguely like a diamond.

Bio: Cecelia was raised across the street from the house. Being so so close and a natural explorer, Cecelia would wander around it looking at everything. In her early teens, Cecelia found a bit of wall that wasn't flush with the rest, so she tugged on it to see if it was loose- and it was. Behind the door laid weapons of the medieval age- swords, axes, maces- along with an odd set of blades. It looked like they'd fit over your fingers. From behind her, Cecelia hears "so you finally found it," The Bishop of the church noted. "We knew you were a curious girl, but we didn't think you'd be sneaking about the church at this hour." Cecelia smirked. After this encounter, the Bishop recruited Cecelia into Et Pertingens Ore Dei, a secret to those of the church outside this group, and since then, Cecelia works covert missions, when they needed a general from Hell to "disappear", or a small camp of demons to be cleared. Cecelia's skillset was one of stealth and infiltration, so getting behind enemies and taking out high-ranking enemies was her specialty.
Personality: Cecelia is quiet an unassuming, though once she's found someone who will talk to her as a friend, you can't get her to stop talking, unless she's on a mission. Even though she's easily attached to people who are friendly to her, Cecelia stays her distance when first meeting others.

Weapons: Cecelia has two blessed-blades worn on her fingers used when she needs to be inconspicuous or not raise concerns. Cecelia will also sometimes wear two daggers on her hips.

Armor: Under her jacket, Cecelia usually has a chainmail shirt, but otherwise, she'll use either no armor or a disguise.
