@Alupi that's reasonable, however in order to develop a character they must have barriers to overcome right? I understand how my monster would be at a disadvantage physically and how their own people would not appreciate their choice to appear human, but aren't these exactly the kind of barriers a character can develop to overcome?

@Eklispe The problem is, I won't be relying on a definite system, so granting them better options isn't really something I can do. I want this RP to be player-driven when it comes to the growth of their character both physically and personally.

If a Goblin had a fixation on burning things, I would eventually grant him an affinity to learn fire-based magic which would allow him to transform into some sort of Hellfire Demon. What I'm trying to say is, the opportunities for growth that I'll grant to a character would be relative to the effort they give. If a non-humanoid and a humanoid traveled together and decided to explore a dungeon, the treasures they'd find would probably benefit the humanoid more than the non-humanoid. Jewelry or accessories might be open to either, but when it comes to weapons, armors, and the like, the choice on who it goes to or who'll experience some sort of power boost, is definitely obvious.

@Starsteemer That's basically going for hard-mode on the difficulty rating, but I wouldn't mind that if that's what you decided on. Just wanted you to be aware. Also, like I mentioned earlier, I want everyone to start from scratch. So if you want to start with an artifact like that, I'd prefer an interesting backstory on how he acquired such an item and his reasons for choosing to take on a form that is looked down upon by the rest of their people.

Hm. Other than letting people choose hard-mode non-humaniods could have some sort of assimilation option, but that starts to get somewhat convoluted. I'd just warn people well in advance and don't let people give you trash for hard mode being hard. ^.^

@Alupi even if it's hard I don't mind, often I come up with clever solutions to inherent disadvantages. As for the artifact, that could be acquired during rp as part of their development but if you'd prefer I could easily whip up an explanation for their possession of it and reasons for wanting it

@Alupi also are the Anathema typically humanoid? And if a select few are imbued with Typhons power how exactly does that manifest? By which I mean what powers did typhon control that go towards the select few chosen? And doesn't it seem like an ill thought out backup plan to leave his power in the hands of creatures he has no clue would help or hinder him?

I mean, he didn't really plan it per se. When he destroyed himself, his essence dispersed throughout what is now the forests of Revea. Those who are blessed by his powers are more of lucky than chosen. The more his influence spreads, the stronger he becomes. The more who pledge thheir lives to him, the faster his revival. I planned to explain more during the RP itself.

I don't mind creating a humanoid character so it might be worth waiting until the ooc is up to see how many people are actually interested and thus if you should devote any time to it.

Now that duthguy brought it up, I'm actually considering a faun. But I really don't want to give up my monster design. Is it possible to incorporate it in another way? Perhaps as a mount? Or a pet?

Maybe in the future, but as of now, it'll probably be 1 character per person.

This is just something like your second life and unfortunately, its a life as a monster. I'm kind of taking some inspiration from novels like Shield Hero, Re: Monsters, and Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken.

Part of what drew me to this RP was the fact that we're never human to begin with. It was like a "getting to play the otherside" thing for once.
