When the sun had finally vanished beyond the western horizon and the calming tranquility of night had taken its place once more upon the eastern reaches of Azeroth, a feeling of unease would fall over the Broken Islands. Something stirred and writhed in the night, unseen but felt from those who lived upon the isles. Without warning, a beam of brilliant emerald green light erupted from the top of the Tomb of Sargeras and pierced the night sky above. Where the beam ended, a vortex of light, color and clouds formed in the sky.
From within the Tomb of Sargeras, fel energies swirled madly around Gul'dan as he transferred the souls of innocents and the raw power of the twisting nether into a soul engine, powering the Legions gateway into the unsuspecting world of Azeroth. The very room around him seemed to distort and shift from the gateway until the connection was fully established. With a blinding flash of emerald green light and fel fire, the soul engine was now fully operational and the connection to the Legion had been flawlessly established. In the blink of an eye, the Legion's forces started to arrive, flooding both the land and sky with demons from their endless army.
A deep, guttural laugh of amusement came from Gul'dan as he witnessed all of his hard work and carefully laid plans come to life before his eyes. Standing not far behind him, another set of eyes watched the historic event unfold. At one time she had worked alongside Khadgar and the heroes of Azeroth but now she was yet another agent of the Legion. Cordana Felsong slowly turned her gaze upwards towards where the beam of emerald light was leaving the tomb. From under her corrupted warden armor, she was emotionless and cold, merely observing the situation at hand.

Two days would pass after the first sightings of the demons flooding over the Broken Islands. By then, the Horde and Alliance would have joined forces and sent a large expedition with all faction leaders and all able bodied heroes to assault the Broken Shore, where the Tomb of Sargeras was located and the heart of the demon invasion. They came unprepared, they were not ready for this new Legion that attacked Azeroth and were quickly overwhelmed, resulting in a large number of deaths on both sides. The assault was a failure, all troops from the Horde and Alliance fell back to tend to the wounded and dead.
Not long would pass until Gul'dan made his next move, he and Cordana assaulted the Vault of the Wardens, where the Wardens kept their most dangerous prisoners and the Illidari forces from Illidan's army. In a desperate move, the infamous Maiev Shadowsong released the Illidari Demon hunters from their cells inside of the vault and asked for their help with defeating the Legions forces. They agreed in full and immediately moved to help attack the Legion both inside of the vault and outside of it.
Even with the Demon Hunters help, the Wardens were eventually pushed back and out of the Vault where the demons and even some vengeful Illidari remained. Having lost their prison to the Legion, all Wardens fell back to the small island southwest of Azsuna called the Island of the Watchers. An old stronghold was quickly cleaned out and reestablished as their home away from home, a place to train new recruits, to watch over the vault and to prepare to counter-attack the Legion. This stronghold was also a place for heroes fighting against the legion to rest and recover before heading back out for war, though the Wardens kept an extremely close eye on all those that entered.
A week would pass while most of the Broken Islands turned into a warzone between the defenders of Azeroth and the Legion. New threats now appeared, being spurred on from all of the bloodshed upon the soil. Whispers of vengeful spirits at the Ravencrest manor appeared amongst the troops and other disturbing rumors floated about. The whole world, all of Azeroth had been shaken from the Legion's arrival, and heroes from all factions were needed now more than ever.
A few days before the events of the RP...
The soft enchanting sound of a masterfully played lute echoed through a large stone room inside of the Warden stronghold as Solares Embersong wrote the same letter over and over again under a dim mana light that hung from a metal hook above her head. With her exquisite penmanship, she finished writing the last of the letter that would be delivered to a number of hand chosen heroes from both factions to help assist the Wardens with a critical assignment that held great importance for Azeroth as a whole.

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read through my opening post for Warcraft: Legions Gambit and for the interest. This Roleplay takes place during the timeline of the current World of Warcraft expansion, Legion. The RP will start out with your character receiving the letter from the Moonhawk and deciding to partake in this rare adventure. Once everyone arrives at the Stronghold I can get the RP moving through our first challenges. I have many plans set up for us that will take us across all of the Broken Islands and perhaps even a Legion conquered world. I do not wish to give away too much of the story and what I have planned since that takes all of the fun out of it. I am however open to any questions you may have or constructive comments.

2: No drama, come to me if something or someone is bothering you in the RP.

4: Be respectful to everyone in the RP.
5: No God-modding or anything of the like.
6: Have fun! (Not a rule, just a suggestion!)
