[OOC] Guilty Gear: X-tinction

A world separate from our own, yet somehow controlling it... The Backyard. Hidden behind its gates are the eternal truths. Of good... and of evil. Of creation and destruction. Of chaos the likes of which mankind has never seen. In a time long passed, a philosopher entered this other realm. He returned, and through shuddering breaths, he spoke... "No evil should touch this place."

This philosopher sealed all that The Backyard was into a single tome. His hope was that mankind would never stumble upon its power. With that, the path to The Backyard was forever barred, and peace once again blessed our world. But what followed, the ancient sage could never have predicted. For evil came not from a human who discovered the book... but from inside The Backyard itself.

In Japan, on October 21st at 12:12PM, in the year 2187AD... Ramletherl Valentine hovered in the sky and spoke to the masses. "My name is Ramletherl Valentine. With this, I declare war on the world. All those unworthy to stand upon it shall be destroyed. The future of humanity... is the past." ... and with a menacing grin she began taking the lives of those around her. The mightiest fighters in the world began to clash. Some to stop the slaughter, others to assist in it. Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske led the charge against the extremely powerful magic of Ramletherl, and ultimately won the resulting war.

Knowing that Ramletherl was a denizen of The Backyard, Sol, Ky, and several others decided to venture into that realm. They knew that if Ramletherl could come through and attack the world, there may be other entities within that would do the world harm as well. Others, such as Millia Rage and Potemkin knew that should the brave ones who entered The Backyard ever fall, or should something get past them, that the world would need fighters of considerable power to defend it... and remained behind.

A few decades later, Sol returned to the world for a brief period of time, along with Ky Kiske. Ky was now an old man near the end of his days, and wished to see his home one final time. Sol, knowing the sentimental fool couldn't be argued with, agreed. So the duo returned to Ky's former kingdom until the day the once vibrant young knight passed away. With Humanoid Gears living in relative peace alongside normal humans, Sol knew his friend had died happy. And so it was that Sol left his blade next to his friend's death bed, telling the caretakers that he knew Ky "would need it where he was going". He then returned to The Backyard, presumably to defend the earth from any malefactors within.

Two centuries later, the unthinkable occured. Over the United Kingdom, on December 17th at 7:37PM, in the year 2342AD... a new entity appeared and began to speak."My name is Issun Fukayatsu. With this, I declare war on the world. All those unworthy to stand upon it shall be destroyed. The future of humanity... is the past." ... and assumed the same menacing grin as Ramletherl had when she spoke the very same words over two hundred years ago. However, the slaughter was not immediate. Rather, the being seemed to be waiting for something, merely killing those who attacked it instead of indiscriminately murdering everything that crossed it's path.

Now it's time of fate has come again. New warriors rise to the challenge of Issun and his minions. Why do they fight? thinks Issun. "Is it for love? For hatred? For power? Is it for their allegiance? Is it for revenge or maybe even a dream? Or is it perhaps for justice? Maybe they wish to repent for their sins? Or is it that it is simply their destiny?" The strange man with the hidden face simply thinks to himself as he senses the gathering tide against him. The time will come soon when he will engage the new fighters in direct combat... and then the fate of the world will be decided.

Arc 1 is going to be simple, so as to integrate veteran fans of Guilty Gear with those who may not know the series as well It will consist of the characters meeting, possibly discussing the threat before them, and fighting their way to Issun. I expect it to be a short arc, lasting probably only a few pages. After that, the fun will intensify and we'll get down to business. I hope everyone is looking forward to this as much as I am.

Personality: Raphaella is a no-nonsense sort of woman. She tends to get irritated at those she beleives to be immature, snaps at those who make light of a situation, and is generally not the most fun to be around. However she behaves in such a way in hopes of living up to her great-great-grandfather's name. In addition, being the Princess of Illyria affords her little freedoms. As such, she sees the new conflict as somewhat liberating... due to the fact that she has been given authority to deal with the threat as she sees fit.

History: Raphaella Kiske is the Princess of the Kingdom of Illyria. Her mother is Michelle Kiske, Queen of Illyria. Michelle is the daughter of Othello, who was the son of Sin Kiske, who was the son of Ky Kiske. Coming from such a noble line, she is of course, expected to follow in her family's footsteps and become a leader in the country. However, she does not wish to become a leader. Rather, the strong-willed woman wished to follow in the footsteps of her great-great-grandfather and become one of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Much to her mother's chagrin, Princess Raphaella went so far as to hire one of the knights to train her in swordplay and combat.

On her 18th Birthday, as a symbol of both her lineage and of her desire to become more like her ancestor, Queen Michelle gifted her daughter with a re-forged Aquila Greatsword, the very same weapon Ky Kiske used while the Thunderseal was being used to hold the Maiden of the Grove in stasis. In addition, Ky had heavily modified the weapon in his time, granting it nearly the same durability and powers as his former blade. Raphaella knew then that she wasn't going to see her family for a time, as her mother showed support in her dreams of becoming a Holy Knight. The next morning, she left to begin her training.

Six years later, Raphaella returned home from her training. The Sacred Order actually forced the woman to return home after she inadvertently harnessed the Gear power within her bloodline, and killed three trainees that she herself had been teaching. She did not know this happened, nor was she informed of it. She WAS given an eyepatch to wear, however... and told that she would never be able to remove it. When she asked why, the senior knight she served alongside informed her that her right eye held a terrible power which had injured the students, and they had to be sent home as a result of what happened.

Understanding that the Holy Order knew best when it came to such things, She agreed to never unleash that power and wear the eyepatch until such time that she passed away. Her family was curious as to the patch, and Raphaella told them she was injured fairly early on in her training and lost her eye as a result. However, she CAN see through the ultra-fine mesh of the patch, which blocks sight going in, but not out. Worried, the King and Queen offered to call in a physician, to which Raphaella responded most sternly against. Eventually, they let the issue go as the "injury" did not seem to impede their daughter's ability to function in any way.

Three months after her return to Illyria... an ominous broadcast was made from the United Kingdom. A being by the name of Issun Fukayatsu was threatening to destroy humanity, and had declared war on the world. Knowing her training would be of use, and that her abilities with the manipulation of magic to create lightning-based attacks was nearly identicle to those of her ancestor, Raphaella rushed to meet this new foe head-on. But was she ready? She knew Ky Kiske had faced Ramletherl Valentine over two centuries ago under similar circumstances... but who knew how much power this new threat had, or if Raphaella even held a candle to the former King of Illyria. Only time would tell.

Heaven or Hell, it was time to rock.

Abilities/Powers:

Greased Lightning - This technique is a boosting ability that Rafaella uses to increase her speed. She supercharges her muscles and neural firing with electricity, hyper-accelerating ( around 5x normal ) her movement rate and reflexive capability. This takes a toll on her, however. After the brief period that the boost lasts (around a minute), she becomes winded and sluggish for around thirty seconds.

Thunderstruck - Thunderstruck is a simple technique in which Rafaella swings her massive blade at the foe. The slash need not impact the enemy, however, as a wave of lightning erupts outward for a short (10m) distance in the direaction the sword was swung. Those hit are subject to a fair amount of pain as their muscles briefly spasm from the exposure to high-voltage electricity.

Stormrider - Rafaella hurls her weapon at the foe and leaps atop it, riding it as though it were a surfboard. She also charges the blade and her body with an electrical current to further augment the damage presented by the attack, should it hit.

Thunder Underground - As the name implies, this attack creates an immense amount of electricity that is substantial enough to erupt from the ground beneath Raphaella's foes

Thunder Kiss - Rafaella blows a kiss most deadly at her foe. Pressing her fingers to her lips, the then flicks an immense bolt of lightning at whatever foe she chooses. The technique is a deceptive one, to be sure. And those caught unaware are subject to intense electrocution, pain, and possible death. This technique is also her most powerful one, capable of killing many foes in a single attack.

Infernal Dynamo - Being a small percentage Gear, Raphaella has a slightly higher amount of strength, speed, and power when compared to a normal human being. However, her most unusual feature is her right eye. This eye is normally hidden by an eyepatch crafted by the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. But when the eyepatch sealing its power is removed by another being, Raphaella gains power comparable to that of her "Greased Lightning" technique, but with no known time limit, and suffers no ill effects. In addition, her raw physical strength doubles compared to that of her normal state.

Those two are REALLY powerful, as I feel the power scale between GG and BB are different, with BB being the more powerful of the two. If you could scale them down somethat, that would be acceptable, I suppose.

Name: Alison Chains

Age: 16

Race: Human

Appearance: "So many roses..." She is very small, around 4'9 in height.

Theme Song: Blue Water Blue Sky(borrowed from May)

Personality: Alison is... seemingly, a very pleasant and refined girl. She is polite to those she speaks to, and very very friendly. It would not seem as if there is a mean bone in her body, even. She is kind, and never seems to run out of tea to offer to others. However, she is also very easily flustered, and can get a bit snappish if she feels that someone is being impolite. Also, there's the way she cheerfully grins as she bludgeons her enemies with a parasol. Or when she throws baseball bats, nails, chainsaws, knives, and explosives at the enemy after pulling them out of her skirt. Yes, Alison seems to enjoy violently fighting a bit too much, even with her otherwise-pleasant personality. At least she doesn't just go doing it to anyone.

History: WIP

Weapon(s): Alison's main weapon is her parasol, which she uses to violently bludgeon her enemies. However, she also stores chainsaws, knives, explosives, nails, potted plants, teacups, tea, a rocket launcher, cookies, rocks, a frisbee, a suitcase, a bottle of wine, a sledgehammer, and a huge ball and chain in her skirt. Somehow.

Abilities/Powers: Alison can fit way too many things in her skirt. Otherwise, she has little in the way of powers and relies on the ridiculous amount of things she carries with her to beat up her foes.

The Forbidden Beast and Noble Son, Ontos Lestrade

Name: Ontos Lestrade (Formerly, Edward Lestrade)

Age: 25 (is effectively 18)

Race: Forbidden Beast

Appearance: Ontos is about 1.64 metres tall. When Edward was still alive, his hair was black.

Personality: Ontos is the mixture of a 1000 dead soldiers, though their personalities have not ended up creating a schizophrenic character. it is quite philosophical and quiet, and believes that it should not try to live up to the personality that Edward was. While quite the weapon for war, Ontos prefers threatening, intimidating actions over direct combat. It is a little cynical, and yet a little optimistic.

Ontos speaks in a manner that reflects an immeasurable number of souls in a single body making decisions by majority vote, though this does not mean that it is free from emotion. It normally speaks in a semi-monotonous voice, but can express emotion when things happen.

If there's one thing Ontos is afraid of, it is being alone, though one would never realise this. The little bits of human soul that became what passes for a complete Forbidden Beast personality are almost like simple children by themselves. Each little part of a human soul is too simple and weak to survive by itself (itself being formed by emotions and little memories of dying soldiers in wars), and can only make some facsimile of human consciousness by working together. Each bit of the human soul is scared of being alone, ultimately culminating in Ontos's fear of being alone. However, due to the 1000 voices in its head that work together, it will never be alone.

At least, that's what it hopes.

History: Originally a child, and the first son of the Grand Duke Winfred Lestrade of the Kingdom of Illyria, the host of Ontos was once a bratty, loud-mouthed noble young man by the name of Edward Lestrade. Edward was a piece in the game of Illyrian noble politics, and was poised for a marriage to the fair, beautiful girl that was Alice Churchill, daughter of the trade magnate and noblewoman Duchess Miranda Churchill.

The two young noblefolk were barely in their 16s when the arranged marriage was sealed, and the alliance between Lestrade and Churchill was put together. While the beautiful young girl, Alice, was ecstatic about this, Edward could only show the weakest of smiles upon his face. For without cause or reason justly defined, the young nobleman had grown weary of the world. He saw only the worst in others, and even the idealistic Alice was someone he saw as a girl who would die stupidly for some noble cause her death would do nothing to assist.

2 years passed.

And the Incident at Nantes occurred. The romantic couple was to holiday in the city of Nantes, in France, as a gesture of romance before their marriage. However, while Nantes was threatened by a potential terrorist attack by the Illyrian Republican Front, Edward and Alice paid no heed to what they believed to be their toothless warnings.

Neither of them could live to regret it.

The Illyrian Republican Front would utilise lone snipers to cause mass havoc in Nantes. Unfortunately, as the pair was the first in the sniper scope of a sniper, Alice would die as a bullet passed through her skull, and Edward would fall down as well, the bullet piercing his future wife and embedding itself in Edward's heart. Soldiers were sent out to suppress the threat, and the Grand Duke would order his own personal guard to retrieve Edward and Alice.

Alice was dead at that stage. But Edward, left to die in the middle of the city for nearly an hour, was beyond any sort of medical help. The Grand Duke could only wail his tears away, as the life signs of his son declined with every second.

However, a little off-hand suggestion by the personal assistant of the Grand Duke, Folcourt, would lead to another great tragedy.

Folcourt suggested that Edward be brought back to health by possessing him with a Forbidden Beast.

Ordering the utmost in preserving Edward's life signs, the Grand Duke descended into the depths of the world that seemed only relevant to the kingdom's defence. He threw money, influence at everything that potentially led to the information on Forbidden Beasts. It would be a month that felt like 10 years, but the Grand Duke managed to meet a mysterious man by the name of Hawk.

Hawk would ask for a ludicrous sum of money to perform the Forbidden Beast experiment, and a 20 year contract by the Duke's side, supposedly to observe a Forbidden Beast host. No price was great enough for the Grand Duke to decline.

When the ritual was performed, a sacrifice was needed from Edward Lestrade. Though the young noble man had been essentially in a coma every since the injury, his mind and body was racked by the agony of staying alive. When asked for a sacrifice, the young man would wish for only one sacrifice.

"Me."

And in that moment, Edward Lestrade's soul died. In his place, was the Forbidden Beast born of the little bits of souls, minds and personalities, of 1000 soldiers that died in war. It called itself 'Ontos'.

Inadvertently, the confusion of the Forbidden Beast as it awoke, staring into the eyes of the father of its host, it would ask the question that broke the Grand Duke's mind.

"Who are you?"

The Grand Duke collapsed, and died a few days later. His eldest daughter, Melanie Lestrade, would take the title of Grand Duchess. She would order Ontos to come to their family mansion a few days after the Grand Duke died, to make a single decision; whether to accept Ontos as a member of their family. While a Forbidden Beast, Ontos still looked like their brother, and was not of an entirely alien morality as compared to the humans of the time.

The 3 sisters, and 3 brothers of it would vote, with the Grand Duchess herself providing a tie-breaking vote if necessary. The brothers and sisters would end up voting 3-3, forcing the affair into the hands of Melanie. But she recalled a meeting with Ontos, in the evening, that sealed her impression of the Forbidden Beast.

The night was about to begin, and Melanie sat down at her own quarters, to drink and watch the moon. However, Ontos would make its way into her room, asking for a meeting. She agreed, and the two chat. About Edward, about Forbidden Beasts, and about the Grand Duke. Ontos had expressed its ambivalence about the whole voting thing, and considered a life away from them if Melanie's family truly hated Ontos for what it represented.

"We do not know how to make you happy. But we wish that you do not be sad."

The smile upon Ontos's face as it said that locked in Melanie's own perspective of Ontos. It was not their brother, but it was someone she could love as family all the same.

And when the tie-breaking affair came to order, Melanie made her decision with no hesitation or doubt. That was 7 years ago. While the noble Ontos Lestrade was adopted into the household with little outside fanfare, many not in the know wonder what happened to Edward and who was the young man that looked exactly like him that took on his place.

Weapon(s): An anti-materiel rifle (in appearance image). It is single shot, and capable of piercing concrete walls. (Though the bullet wouldn't be fatal after that, but still hurts a LOT.)

Pistol. Not much to it, normal calibre and normal range.

Abilities/Powers:

Death Dies Hard: Born of souls that have died in war, Ontos can shift its body around in... weird ways. It can, with zero effort, turn parts of its body into weaponry. A finger (or toe) itself can materialise as a pistol. A forearm, bicep, thigh, foreleg or a whole hand can turn into a battle rifle or combat shotgun that would not be out of place in a soldier's hands.

More parts can make more, higher calibre rifles. When materialising a gun from itself, Ontos can automatically generate ammo for it, but it has to be reloaded manually. It can levitate and handle any part of itself with no effort, but it costs some energy for it to generate ammo whenever a new gun is formed. If it fires any of its weapons without actually pushing the trigger with its own fingers (or getting someone else to), it will cost some energy as well.

The guns, while effectively instantaneously transforming from body part to weapon, takes roughly 30 seconds to do the reverse. Furthermore, it must reconnect to its original joint where it came off in order to reverse the process.

It can make about 15 guns at most before compromising on things like firing rate and bullet velocity.

Fury of the Bulletstorm: Ontos can shift its main body into a mini-gun, that holds a maximum of enough ammo to fire for 10 seconds continuously. While it has other forms to transform to, a minigun gets the message across the clearest.

Requiem for a Dream: Basically, a move that will put Ontos out of commission for days. But it allows it to transform into a gun that means serious business.

Heroes of Another Time: Ontos takes no physical effort to manually handle the guns it forms, and shoots extremely well. Other people will have to deal with its weight, though. Despite being a Forbidden Beast, however, Ontos is only about as strong as the average man. (Though its small size would mean that it is a significant improvement over Edward's previous strength.)

Personality: A girl wise beyond her years, but can still be a tad impulsive, probably a genetic trait. Not exactly the best for democratic situations she has a bad habit of speaking her mind exactly as it happens leading to horrible breakdowns of communications but she does her best to patch it up. She can't stand to see people getting discouraged and will strive to do something about it. She tries to think that there is some good in everyone, but considering all that has happened to her, she is slow to trust anyone with anything. She shoulders as much of the burden as possible, ensuring that she is the only one who needs to sacrifice.

History:
The Zanuff family had prospered since the time of the "American" Ninja. His philosophy and his technique where passed down the line, along with the ever growing fortune. Under the guise of a banking family the Zanuff worked to create a network of protection for those who would have no hope. They would dirty their hands at the first signs of corruption, taking steps to insure that the world will return to honor once more.

Shard is a third generation pure hot blood she has the eyes to prove it! From an early age she was brought into the real work the family did and she loved every second of the training! Constantly pushing past the limits of the others she was certain she would live up to the legacy! The stories she was told, the inspiration they brought her! No one could have been greater than her Great Grandfather, she too would be a Hero!

When she turned thirteen she received something that was the greatest gift, The flowing fist. It was the first time she had been challenged so fully. The problem is they where too much to handle.
Grandfather was wind and so was his father....She was cursed. Her chi was of the earth. Her techniques became destructive to friend and foe alike. In fear of hurting anyone more than she had, she exiled herself to the wilds till she obtained mastery, or death.

It took four years, four agonizing years of solitude suffering and discipline! But she learned not only her chi but of the world, her abilities still had room to improve but her natural skills where under her control! She was finally going to return triumphant she could not wait to tell her father, knowing full well he would be more excited to see her skills than she was of herself!

.....Nothing prepared her for what she saw. The home, the land.....Its all gone.... A burnt husk, complete with the charred remains of countless fellows. Her mind went blank, and in the moment of purest rage when a monster could have been born.
Rather than lose herself to it she swallowed her rage, and looked down at her clenched fist and slowly opened her palm. Though Shard's heart was ravaged by grief but this brought about a moment of clarity and the earth spoke to her, in its own way. The ashes seemed to blow away, and the grass grew ever more vibrant. The Zanuff didn't blow away this time, they took root and in time they will grow stronger than they could have ever been before!
Its been two years and shard has made a name for herself as a vigilante helping anyone in need. All the while patching up the network and piecing the family together once more.

Weapon(s): The flowing fist, a pair of gauntlets that augment the natural chi of the user. They are rather unique device that is just as much magic as it is science.

Abilities/Powers:

"Alpha Fist!" With incredible speed she moves forward Tearing the earth to pieces and losing debris finishing with a strong uppercut to launch the target.

"Beta Fist 1-2!!" Using her gauntlets and incredible speed she punches straight up, after the initial hit she quickly follows up with a blow that sends them back down!

"Quake!" Shard leaps up and slams down cratering the impact point.
