The instructor looked at the top ten of the 121 recruits standing before him. They were a strange bunch, but a brilliant one. They had all overcome struggles to get here, and he was proud of them. Of course, he would never admit that to them. You need to try them, see if they break with no praise.
These ten would never break. Some just wanted to live a safe life in the interior as the Military Police. Some he knew would never take that opportunity, and were brave enough to try and reclaim land from the Titans. Either way, they would wear their regiment's insignia proudly. "All right maggots! These are the top of your class, so pay attention and wither in the knowledge that you were not good enough to stand up here with them! I hope you feel miserable knowing that you couldn't handle the pressure!"
"I won't either bother to read who they are, because you don't need that information to know that you can't hold a candle up to them!" He turned to the selected ten. "You all will be happy to hear that you secured a title as top ten graduates! However, do not be fooled! Whatever regiment you decide on, it will be a difficult road ahead of you. The three choices ahead of you are these!
The Scout Regiment, those who travel beyond the walls to reclaim what is rightfully ours! The Military Police, the king's personal force. You will fight in the King's name, and for the people! Or the Garrison, the main force for defending the walls!"
Archer Roman grinned at the acknowledgement from his instructor, excited to fight for humanity. He looked at his comrades and reflected on what they had all gone through. We won't be looked down on any more. We've proved how useful we are. They have to give us the respect we deserve. I swear to all those people that died on that day that I'll make sure we can take back what we lost due to the Titans. And one day, maybe we could live a life without fear of the Titans. He turned to his nearest comrade, Hana.
"Isn't this great? Did you see the looks on the other recruits' faces? They were so disappointed! They should have worked harder!" He whispered, laughing quietly, then waited for her reaction.
"Archer Roman! Do you have something to say?" The instructor shouted at him, furious at being interrupted. "I'm sure you could share with all of the recruits!" He lifted Archer up and faced him towards the crowd. "Now what is it you had to say?!"
Archer remained calm and looked at the other recruits. "I swear that I will fight hard for humanity!" He slid out of his instructor's grasp and faced forward, waiting for Hana's reaction.
