@BrokenPromise

Mhm. One standard I expect is to have pre-planned plot posts. This GM just doesn't seem to have that. Not to mention their time judgement is rather lazy. What I mean by that is, there's very little to do now in the IC, so they should move along the plot right? He says he will in 2-3 days. Um.. What exactly are we to do during that? Faffing around is so boring and makes me loose my motivation to post.
Pudding

Presumably not keeping active in the IC, and barely posting with enough length or detail to give sufficient immersion for all parties, are two of the definitions of lousy from their perspective, and I've gotta say I entirely agree with them. I'll let them fill you in on the rest since they were only referring to one GM there.

Two thousand posts is pretty decent for the short period of time I've been here.

Didn't claim to do it by myself, but considering it's roughly 1/5 of the total post count of a hang-out thread that's been on this site seemingly since its creation, there's a certain element of pride I've got in the little community I'm building. By referring to how long I've been here, I meant it in correspondence to the thread as well -- this thread's only been up for a month or so.

I see the subjective/objective debate creeping up here, and it can turn into a bit of an infinite loop. So I probably should disengage here.

But its worth clarifying that we do usually accept some overwhelming subjective opinions as objective when reviewing games.

Is it fair to say that the Batman Arkham Games are BETTER than Superman 64? Or am I just forcing one opinon over another?

I think games like Tekken and Dead or Alive are brainless and lacking tactics compared to Soul Calibur V or a lot of 2D fighting games. -

Just out of intererst how do you feel about dynasty warriors?

I was addressing the subjective concept as well, so I'm guessing I wasn't tagged on accident.

Anyway, I actually don't happen to like the Batman Arkham series, but then I haven't played that Superman game you mentioned since I'm not actually interested in superhero games in general. I'd say you're forcing an opinion if there's actually people out there who don't agree with you about it -- ultimately, things are subjective when they're a matter of tastes. Tekken is hailed as the best 3D fighting game series ever and I pretty much think it's a joke competitively. I've never had an issue with the gameplay of Kingdom Hearts and I don't suspect Final Fantasy XV will bother me either -- plenty of people like the combat systems.

Edit: Dynasty Warriors is entertaining, but I think it's very casual/easy.

This would be my view on the KH battle systems, smashing one button and watching an occasional QTE.

Admittedly, Kingdom Hearts can get a little more complicated when you're openly forced to use magic or deal with weird situations, but not by very much. It's mostly the hidden bosses that provide most of the challenge in the games, but even then you can just level grind to negate that, or have really good timing with certain mechanics. To be perfectly honest with you though, I consider every single Final Fantasy game very easy to beat all the content in and - in most cases - to 100% as well. I don't really play those games for the gameplay, but for the storyline and the aesthetic/music/et cetera -- the creator of the FF series even went on interview himself for saying the purpose of the series was telling stories and not creating action games.

Generally, I find most action games easy too, and this bleeds over into any genre I touch if I actually give enough shit about it to try it. One of the most infamous JRPGs out there in terms of making people give up - due to them not being able to beat the first bosses - is a game I've not only gotten 100% completion on but my save file also includes a 'no direct damage' rating in my scoreboard. To put this into perspective, it would sort of be like never taking any damage throughout the game outside of your shield. Still a great game.

Edit: Not that this inherently changes the point I'm making about Kingdom Hearts itself being pretty simple, but I've actually played games before, even fighting games, that only use one or two buttons and still managed to be more tactically demanding than a lot of action games or sandbox games. Bullet hell games also only have one attack button usually and only one attack at all sometimes, yet still manage to be more challenging than a lot of other video games. This is mostly trivia though, since my general attitude is I agree that Kingdom Hearts is easy -- I just don't inherently dislike the game for it.

Short answer is I don't usually define a game's combat system as bad because I find it easy, since if I did I'd probably think most games are shit. Sometimes I just want to relax and kill some mooks while I enjoy a story -- I'll stick on Soul Calibur V or play a game of chess if I want tactics.

@NekoMizu well, it would take someone very special to enjoy something like that.

I mean like, maybe it was the only videogame they ever played? Maybe it was the first thing they ever saw appear on a tv screen?

It was to someone, and I assure you they thought it was magical.

Just so everyone knows, my pattern got bad again, and my PC is having one of its glorious 'you're not allow to use right click on anything' periods, which started a little while before I went to bed. This means my activity will be very limited until I work things out.

BrokenPromise

The whole basic point that I'm making is this person is more than welcome to have that opinion, and no one has the right to be arrogant enough to think otherwise and judge them for it, nor the right to be insecure and childish enough to judge someone for not liking something. I like plenty of things that weren't highly popular, and there's a lot of best-sellers out there which I more or less think are boring or nothing but hype. Tastes are subjective. Claiming otherwise is like claiming it's an objective fact that everyone has to like a certain genre of fiction because it's popular -- some people don't even like fiction at all, and that's their call.

With all that said, I haven't played Superman 64 and don't intend to for the aforementioned 'superheroes bore me' thing.

Mate its surprising that your computer turns on at all at this point. I've never even heard of something like that happening. Well, what does the computer do when you right click?

Nothing? I have a pretty good idea of why it's happening, but it doesn't change the fact that it makes shit more difficult.
