"When I think of destiny, I don't think of a predetermined fate you can't escape. But rather... some sort of final goal, something you work towards your entire life."Name: Emerald
Nicknames: Emm
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Class: Troubadour
Home country: Macarath, Nohr
Appearance: Personality: Emm is very professionally-capable, friendly, and a relaxed person. She is a composed and collected individual who, despite being raised in Nohr, is modest and patient around people, making her very sociable. Additionally, she tends to be quite formal in the way she speaks or acts. As a righteous person who treats people equally regardless of their background, Emerald can’t stand discrimination or unnecessary violence. This has made her into a very selfless and helpful person, which in turn helps very well in her line of work.
In bad or dire situations, Emm is a quick-thinker, doing her best to solve the issue with either her staves or with the help of her allies. She relies heavily on being able to avoid direct conflict as she is defenseless, and so she has to be level-headed in combat so that she herself isn’t vulnerable. She knows she isn’t particularly strong in terms of brute strength or pain tolerance, and so she is somewhat cautious when in combat situations. However, that doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to take risks to save a life.
An engaged person, Emm takes her studies in herbs and healing, along with relationships, equally seriously, making her a bit stubborn and emotionally sensitive. However, this is due to her loyalty as well as her good intent. She is known to hold grudges against those who have severely hurt her feelings, though she is willing to eventually forgive them with a simple apology from their part. She is also willing to hold secrets and help friends in need, sometimes without considering the consequences.
Her former home of Macarath has prevented her from forming any kind of meaningful, long-lasting relationships with people, instead simply forming short, easily broken bonds. Due to this, Emm has little experience with people and it can be seen in her own optimistic attitude, being very likely to apologize even if there was nothing wrong. She feels as if she is incapable of forming a real friendship with anyone, so much so that she may not consider you a friend, even if you do.
As stated a bit earlier, Emm is also willing to take risks for the greater good, and always concerned herself with the ethics of making decisions. Almost selfless to a fault, Emm is willing to put others before herself, and unfortunately, this trait also has the potential to harm her the most.
Biography/history:Emerald was born into a noble family in Cheve, of knights who took pride in Cheve's reputation of producing such capable warriors. They had already had several young, aspiring boys, and when it came to Emm, they had high expectations as she was their first daughter. They hoped, much like her mother, that she would become a powerhouse, but they learned early on that their daughter was not like a majority of the family. While they all wanted to wrestle or fight, she did her best to scold them, as children do, instead of joining the conflict. Instead of wanting to learn how to fight, their youngest instead wanted to pick flowers. This much softer soul made her parents wonder what to do with her, while little Emm was none the wiser of her parents supposed disappointment in her. They began to think of a use of their daughter, and it didn’t take them long to come up with one.
It was at this young age that she was sent to live with her Aunt in Macarath, too young to hold any real memories of her family, thus making it easier for her to settle in the Nohrian town. Her aunt was one of the many apothecary’s there, and upon her arrival young Emerald was soon taken as an apprentice. Instead of fighting, she found herbs, practiced medicine with her aunt. It was a much more suitable lifestyle, and while her aunt would leave from time to time to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the various entertainment in town, Emerald was satisfied, essentially doing the same thing she had done in Cheve, but with direction and a purpose. So much so, that as she got a little older, her aunt gifted her a horse so that she could easily traverse the surrounding area and town when she wanted, looking for healing herbs, or simply new plants, and recording them for later.
These studies continued onward into her teens, where it was then that she began to take notice of a different kind of magic, solely meant for healing and speeding up the healing process through the use of said magic. Through her studies, she learned that there were staffs that could act as a conduit for this magic. Astounded, Emerald began the slow process of learning how to use such a thing. Her aunt from time to time would bring her a teacher, helping her learn a bit more in this new magic to her, along with expanding her knowledge of medicine.
Her determination stemmed from the letters she would often receive from her family in Cheve, a family she could hardly remember, but that she loved nonetheless. They praised her for her dedication to healing, Emerald unknowing that they simply wanted someone in the family who could take care of them if they were wounded. Even if these letters were few and far inbetween, Emerald did her best to keep in touch. Though, her destiny would not be towards them.
Recently, Emerald was tasked with taking medical supplies to the front lines, being told that something big was about to happen. Stories of a Nohrian Prince being held captive by Hoshido, and an assault to get him back. It would be a relatively new experience to go into a tactical battle, or, well, war, as her prior experience with healing was either in infirmaries or from bandit attacks. Now, riding onto the scene, she can only watch as her late arrival has separated her from the Nohrian troops after her delivery...
