Claudia and Alex
with @Kyrisse
Claudia remained silent the whole time that it took them to get back to the bar. But her arm was curled possessively around Alex's while she lost herself in her thoughts, the events that happened only a few minutes ago playing in her mind. She knew that something was up, she heard the unrest in the house, she heard the voices. And when she heard Alex cry out in pain, it took all of her self control not to break down the door and charge outside. Even though she had only known him a short span of time, she was already possessive and protective of him. But no matter how much she wanted to tear out the throat of the person who hurt Alex, she didn't want to walk into something she should not be poking her nose into. She was, after all, an outsider to this family. When he returned and she walked into his arms, he told her what the meeting was all about. A war was coming.
Her hand tightened its grip on his arm. He was hers. There was no way she was letting him fight in the war alone. If he wanted to protect her, she was sure as hell gonna protect him too. As soon as they stepped into the bar, Caius met them and handed her his apron. He asked her to cover for him and then rushed out with Callie before she could say anything. She shrugged and then turned to Alex and asked the question that has been bothering her since leaving the Prescott's house. "Who hurt you back there?"
Alex sighed and looked at Claudia and smiled. "I think I like this side of you. Caring and sweet definitely suits you. I'm fine, it was just a family squabble, nothing to worry about." He kissed her cheek and finished tying his apron and looked around the room and headed towards a table on the far side of the room to clear and wipe it down.
His mind wandered back to what had happened and thought about Grant for a minute as he cleared the tables. The vampire was younger than he was by a few hundred years. He knew he is Piper's boyfriend/mate or whatever they were and he didn't want to hurt her so he had not fought back when he put him in the wrestling hold. He had been surprised when he had bitten him and started to feed on him. This was purely done out of disrespect. He had seen Piper come in and when he did he felt Grant dig his teeth in deeper so it ripped when he was pulled off of him. He would deal with Grant another time and he needed to let Piper know that if he tried that again he would not hold back.
Family squabble. If anyone tries to hurt you again, I'll... Claudia's mind brought up images of herself tearing a faceless vampire's throat and dismembering another. She stated at Alex for a few minutes as she put on her brother's apron. She still couldn't quite comprehend how it all happened but here she was, involved with someone that belonged to a race she always thought she needed to hate. Well, that hate was now fierce loyalty and undying devotion. After all, wolves were very faithful and steadfast to their chosen mates.
She made her way to the bar and her attention was immediately called by an already drunk male vampire. "Hey little she wolf. What do you say you and me get wasted and blow this joint? I'll show you a really good time."
"No," Claudia continued mixing drinks and did not even bother looking up.
This infuriated the vampire. "What? You think you're better than me...above me? You're nothing but a flea bitten rug pretending to be something more," he stood up and took a swipe at Claudia, one that she easily sidestepped.
Maybe being with Alex mellowed down her anger or maybe it was just her fulfilling the role of a bartender. Whatever it was, she didn't lose her cool. She slammed a shot glass onto the bar counter in front of the vampire and smirked at him. "Drink up, old man."
The vampire glared at Claudia but the alcohol in front of him distracted him and he fell to silence as he downed the liquid. Claudia promptly ignored him but then another male accosted her attention. A werewolf this time. The man winked at her. "A vampire doesn't have a chance with you, I'm sure. You and I are the same. So what do you think of hooking up?"
Alex was also calmer since he knew that Claudia was his but he wasn't about to allow anyone to harass her either. He watched as she handled the vampire and when the vampire backed off he retracted his fangs. When the wolf started hitting on her he walked behind the bar and when she looked up he smiled at her and tipped her chin up and kissed her soundly. Then Alex smiled at the wolf and walked over to finish putting the load of clean glasses away. He was smiling. He chanced a peek up at Claudia's expression.
The wolf looked at Claudia and at Alex. He seemed to stare at Alex for a moment then he said something that made Alex grin like a predator upon sighting his prey. "You are the Enforcer!" Alex nodded "It seems my reputation precedes me." The wolf quickly finished his drink and left a little unnerved. Alex watched the man go and he kept working slightly concerned about what his recognition would bring to the bar.
As the surprise of Alex staking his claim on her so blatantly faded, a sense of belonging and contentment settled over Claudia. A satisfied smile found its way to her face as she watched the werewolf hurry out of the bar. When they were alone again later, she would have to show him just how much she belonged to him.
At the corner of her eye she saw Lucinda speaking to a woman. She inhaled sharply. She was human but the way she carried herself clearly spelled out that there was more to her than meets the eye. She didn't mind. Just as long as she stayed away from Alex, everything between them will be right as rain.
After Lucinda introduced Ashley to him and her instructions sounded vague to any non vampire he knew he might have to explain what she was to Claudia. He watched as Lucinda left and he got back to Claudia. He pulled her to him and didn't pay any attention to the smirks and grins the customers were giving them. He asked her quietly if she had any questions about Ashley.
All the werewolves stared incredulously at Claudia. While most tolerated the vampires in the bar, seeing her openly display her relationship to one was almost intolerable. There were low grumbles but none made a move to complain or speak up. Claudia couldn't care less. "Just as long as she stays away from you... whoever she is and whatever role she'll play here, I won't mind and I won't care."
Alex couldn't have cared less what anyone else thought about his ladylove being a wolf. She was his and nothing was going to change that as far as he was concerned. He spoke low so only she could hear him. "She is Lucinda's blood doll." He could tell that the term was new to her and he said "She is Lucinda's walking blood bank. Lucinda will feed on her whenever she pleases and that way she doesn't have to hunt when it is dangerous for her to do so, like during a war."
When the growling and grumbling got loud enough to annoy Alex he turned and shouted to the room, "That's ENOUGH!"
"Blood doll," Claudia repeated and then nodded. She'll need to get use to the terminologies. When Alex shouted to the room, she turned her attention to the handful of wolves who glared at her. How dare they? Her temper mounting, he stared back at them and bared her teeth the way a rabid dog would, a low growl in her throat. The werewolves glared back and decided that it wasn't worth their time to stay. One by one they left, the last one muttering "Tyrant" as he left. "Tyrant?" Claudia repeated and then laughed out loud. But her laughter died in her throat when a vampire near them sneered.
"Your new lap dog, Alex?" the vampire raised his eyebrow arrogantly at Claudia.
The instant the words were out of his mouth the vampire found himself hoisted into the air by his throat as Alex strangled him. His eyes glowed a deadly red, his fangs were dropped and he growled to the vampire in a guttural voice that dared him. "Apologize to the lady." The vampire could barely breath let alone speak. Alex adjusted the man's position and he stammered "I apologize miss." Alex threw the man ten feet and when he got to his feet he yelled. "Watch out North you don't want anything to happen to your precious wolf." Alex was a blur in motion as he ripped the head off of the vampire and threw it like a basketball. The body he carried around back and put it in a hole that he would fill with concrete early the next morning.
Going back inside the bar he looked at Claudia as he locked the door and sighed and he pulled her into his arms. "I will not allow anyone to threaten you. You are my love and I'll kill them all if I have to." Alex lifted her onto the bar and turned the lights out. He buried his head into her as he wrapped his arms around her. Then he looked up into her eyes and he kissed her possessively. Claiming her right there as his mate he whispered the words to her. "I love you Claudia."
Claudia's heart beat increased its tempo in response to the violence she witnessed from Alex. Oddly enough, seeing him so aggressive made her want him all the more. Silently, she watched him walk back in. He let her lift her onto the bar with no resistance. When he wrapped his arms around her, she responded by wrapping her own around him. And when he kissed her, she responded with fervor and need. I love you Claudia. His words snatched at her heart. She had heard the same words so many times from her past relationships. But she has never spoken the words back. But now... She looked into the eyes of a predator... Of an enemy... Of a lover... Of her mate. "I love you, Alex," she whispered back. She lifted her hands and began stroking his head. "But you really can't go around killing your kind and my kind just because they offend me."
