To know Pegasus had been put down by his mistake and had it turned on him made Yami feel hope for this duel, that soon this would all be over and Yugi would no longer be bothered and-, his thoughts were halted when Pegasus played Illusionist Faceless Mage of which made him wonder as to why he summoned it knowing full well that his magician was stronger. Though with this Eye of Illusion that Pegasus equipped to the Faceless Mage and Attack his Dark Magician, Yami acted quickly. "Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack!" Countering the attack of which the Mage was destroyed and leaving his Magician unscathed. His eyes glanced to Shadow and gave a curt nod. 'I agree, that attack was rather bold unless there was was a purpose to it that I am unaware of.' He drew a card and of which he flipped it and placed it on the monster zone to reveal a tan ancient boney yet wicked dragon with no limbs. "Curse of Dragon, Attack Pegasus!" He declared for his turn.

"You don't pay attention, do you?", Pegasus taunted before the golden dragon's attack redirected straight back to Dark Magician, instead of its intended target. Yami's Magician destroyed the golden dragon! His life points dropped from 1500 to 400. 'The Eye of Illusion!', Shadow quickly realized. "You're quickly catching on, Djinni", Pegasus confirmed. "Haven't you ever wondered why I would attack a monster that's clearly more powerful than my own?", he rhetorically added. "Basically, your Dark Magician is mine to control". 'That's why the attack got redirected towards Dark Magician. The spell fooled the Curse of Dragon into attacking itself; it was all an illusion', it was all coming together. The white-haired man chuckled, before setting down a card.
Time was running out!

Yami's widened at the sudden turn of which had no made sense to him till he had thought about it as well and come to what the cause was. He had not expected his Dark Magician to be turned on him but as Shadow was explaining what had happened and what the card did that Pegasus did not explain. Wanting him to think about it himself. Though looking at the time, Yami knew he needed to act fast and so without further distraction, he draw a card and placed it on the monster zone to see Summoned Skull (ATK:2500, DEF:1200) and instantly went for the attack. "Summoned Skull! Attack Pegasus!" Yami commanded and did as it was told, summoning a ball of lightning and going to strike down the the CEO when everything vanished that was the Duel. Yami looked shocked and felt some disappointment that he did not take out the CEO fast enough.

Pegasus sneered at the amount of time they had left. And, he had the most points between the two of them. On the other hand, Shadow silently prayed for Yami to make this turn count, but as soon as everything faded, the fear was there: he lost! "That's too bad, little Yugi", he chuckled before the Millenium Eye glowed again, with a beam shooting out of it, and towards the frozen Solomon Muto. "Yugi!", the grandfather called after Yugi, after his soul got sucked into the television. "Don't worry, you'll see your grandfather again...till next time!", the white-haired man laughed maliciously, enjoying the moment he was living in. The area faded back to reality, with Yugi's friends being able to move, and Shadow going back into her transparent spirit form, once the Puzzle wore off.

Yami was not prepared for what happened next. Seeing the glowing eye and then the upcoming snowflake screeen with Solomon's appearing looking fearful and imprisoned, Yami felt upcoming tears for they he realized were not his. But being pulled back into the puzzle as Yugi came forth and scooted closer to the tv to see his Grandfather. "Grandpa! Grandpa!" he cried out to the TV. Joey, Tristen and Tea watched in confusion and sadness as to scene before them. Joey was first to react. Though confused as he got out, he reached to his friend as he gently grabbed his shoulder and gently tore Yugi from the TV of which he enveloped the poor kid into a big hug of which Yugi did not resist. Tea went and called the ambulance while Tristen rolled Yugi's Grandpa onto his back.

The rest of the nights unfolded where Yugi cried as Solomon was taken to the hospital with Tea and Tristen having gone to keep Yugi and Joey updated. This took a little while for Yugi to calm down and take it in as well as get the news that Solomon was in a coma. Joey had waited till Yugi would be okay with being at his own house by himself before relunctantly leaving once Yugi convinced him. Meanwhile Yami was feeling the same depression and sadness that Yugi was feeling. He had lost because he had stalled, that he was reckless and that he had allowed for someone to get hurt because of it all. Now his ward's only family was in the hospital and soul in Pegasus's hands.

Going into his room in the middle of night once by himself, Yugi closed the door, changed to his PJs and layed on his bed, curling up. He looked to the puzzle of which had spralled on the matress when he rolled on his side facing the room. He took hold of the anciant pendant and hugged it close to his chest.

'Pegasus!', Shadow shouted through the link, before the white-haired man disappeared on the screen. 'No!', she continued in her state of shock and anger. The genie knew that he would start playing games, and most of it became unfair. Yami lost, and they were paying the price; mainly, in this case, Yugi. This was the second time someone had threatened her owner, now master. First, Kaiba; now Pegasus, in retaliation. Shadow solemnly watched Yugi's reaction, and this was first time she's ever seen him truthfully fall apart. He was a kind, helpful person; what did he do to deserve something this cruel?

She wanted to comfort him, once she watched Solomon's soul-less body get taken to the hospital -- for the second time. All she could was give him her full attention, and show that she was there for him. Thankfully, she was patient with him, giving him space, if he desired it. She didn't, and couldn't, let Yami blame himself for his host's loss. So, that night, as Yugi isolated himself inside his room, the genie sat in the middle of the bed, with her legs crossed, almost in a meditative position. She looked upon his lying form.

'It's not your fault', she solemnly spoke up, after hours of the evening's silent treatment. 'Pegasus has his way of causing such misery. I led him here...', the genie looked down submissively, thinking that she was the cause of making Yugi suffer in the first place.

Yugi was pulled out of his thoughts with Shadow's words, uncurling himself and loosening his hold on the Puzzle. He sat up and wipping the tears from his eyes and cheeks. He shook his head when she started to blame herself. "Its not your fault Shadow." his voice a little cracked from crying as much as he did. "We didnt know this would happen. "A small weak smile formed on his lips. This goes for you Spirit." Yugi could feel the saddened presence of the spirit within. He too appeared but on the other side of the bed, sitting on the edge leaned forward and his elbows resting on his thighs and with his head down. He lifted his head to look at Yugi. "We didnt know. This wasnt in our control. I-I realize that now. But we will need to find a way to get Grandpa back. There has to be a way." Yugi told both Spirits, though trying to be brave, was feeling the earlier events coming back and tears forming in his eyes.

Yami nodded, straightened himself a little as he sat there. He looked to Shadow before looking back to Yugi to see the young boy starting to tear up. "We would have to bind him by the laws of the Shadow games. To duel us and in exchange of use winning to release your grandfather's soul. Only he can do it."

Shadow looked back up to Yugi, as he denied this to be either her's or Yami's fault. "Clearly, he knew what he was doing. It was evident during the match. That Eye gave him an advantage, using Yami's moves in his favor", the thought was whether if he used it against people other than Yugi. During her time in his possession, there have been several.

She looked at Yami nearby, and nodded to his plan. "I agree. Yet, we are against a man who uses Shadow Magic, and he will bring obstacles towards us. It does sound risky, but it's all we can do to save your Grandfather", the genie smiled in determination.

Yugi nodded, wipping his tears away before they could flow. Yami though spoke up again. "We know what to do now. We know his weakness and we can use that. We would have to work together and use blind faith. When we face him, we will be ready." Yugi gave another nod before looking to his friends. "Thank you, you guys. This means alot to me." Yugi smiled at them, a genuine smile on his lips. Yami seemed had lightened up, looking more happy and calm, happy to know that Yugi would be okay. Though this would be dangerous, but Yugi was being brave for his grandpa.

Shadow would gladly get back at this man for the harm he put upon Yugi. It seems that his grandfather may be the only family he has. Just like her sister being the only family she had. Maybe after they defeat Pegasus, she just might be able to retrieve Divine's card from him. The genie made that nod again with her head, giving her owner, and master, her silent thanks.

This was the start of a new chapter....

Yugi had never felt as light but yet a weight on his shoulders to find a way to get his Grandpa back. Knowing Yami and Shadow were on his side and woul help felt comforting. He had never brought this to his friends as of yet for he knew this was something he would need to do. School went on though it wasn't the same without his Grandpa to greet him. Joey, Tristen and Tea had rahter close to Yugi, trying to brighten up the days of which had worked when they were at school and would walk home till they walked their separate ways except for Joey who would walk him home. Yugi would ways talk to Shadow and occasionally Yami when he would want to talk but that was now again.

There was one day that Yugi had asked to be alone when walking home of which Joey respected his friend's wishes. Yugi got home by sunset due to having taken his time. He didnt get much of a chance to help kee the Shop for his Grandpa but then again he couldn't bring himself to go it. Reaching the door, he opened the door after unlocking it with something white ha gotten his attention. Picking up the thin white object, he had examined it better to see it was an envelope. Opening it after looking around, Yugi noticed four Duel monster cards inside. Only they werent just cards. Invitation and details that explained a tournament at Duelist Kingdom.

The next day, Yugi showed this to his friends of which they were struck with awe while Joey was instantly intrigued. "Invitation to Duelist Kingdom, huh? It says that Duelists from all over the world are participating. The the glove and Star-chips are your entry along with the invitation." Tea explained. Tristen picked up one of the cards and was surprised. "Look at this! The winner can win five million dollars!" Yugi looked confused but wasnt interested. "Tristen, I'm not interesting in prize money. I just want to get Grandpa back." Joey though snatched the card from his friend's hand and looked at it like it was going to be a solver to his problems. Yugi picked up on this and wondered what it was about. Thinking about confronting later about it. "Five million?! Five Mill'." Yep. Yugi was curious.

Shadow, once again, gave her word to help Yugi whenever she can. And she promised that they will get his grandfather's soul. Yugi didn't deserve that, and he shouldn't have. But the next day, it was like a clue was found to solve their problem: tickets to Duelist Kingdom! Okay, now Pegasus was playing with them. She didn't trust the man, but it was like he was giving them no other choice, but to accept. "Pegasus did mention that he would start another tournament. In this case, you're the guest of honor", the genie pointed out as she appeared by Yugi's side. Honestly, she knew he wouldn't care about the million dollar prize; all he wanted was his grandfather's soul.

Along with Yugi, Shadow was curious too, once Joey snatched the invitation. What could be so important about earning this prize?

It was after school when Yugi went looking for Joey of which he had found him on the rooftop where you could see the sun. The blonde was sitting on the ground with his back leaning against the wall as he was staring at the ever slowly setting sun. Joey noticed the unmistaken hair that was Yugi's from the corner of his eye and smiled. "'Sup Yug'?" Yugi smiled to his friend and walked over to him, sitting next to the older and taller teen. "Came to check up on you. You've been acting alittle weird than normal." Yugi answered, cutting to the chase of which Joey chuckled and nodded. He looked over to the sun. "Your right." He told the younger. "You remember when we first met?" Joey asked suddenly.

Yugi smiled at that and looked to the sun as well. "I remember. How can I forget? That was the day within the time I was working on the Millennium Puzzle. I was focused on it when my Grandpa gave it to me that it took me months to complete. But as I was almost done you took the one of the pieces and started playing keep away with it with Tristen that you then chucked it out the window." Yugi told him. Joey scratched the back of his head with a sly smile on his lips. "Oh? Was that what we were doing?" He asked with the sly smile still there. "We were just trying to toughin' you up a little so you could stand up to the real bullies." Joey explained. Yugi didnt seem convinced of the reasoning. "Was that what you were doing? Thats not how I remember it." "Yeah. You stood up against that one hall monitor bully didn't ya?" He asked of which Yugi nodded. "I did. You and Tristen both had been bullied and beat up."

Joey smiled fondly. "It was thanks to you that we got that creep expelled for what he did. If you hadnt done what you did no one would have believed us. That took courage and alot of guts." Yugi giggled. "If you talk about getting beat us too then sure." The blondes eyes hardened though. "Im serious Yugi. You did what no one would do for us and Im still proud to call you my true friend. We changed our ways because of it. I owe you everything Yugi."

Joey looked to the sun and his face hardened then. "I will do all I can in order to helped you save Gramps. But there is someone I need to help out as well. I need that Prize money Yugi. You see...It's for my sister Serenity. We were separated when we were little. She's had real big problems with her eyes since she was born and the doctors said that eventually she would go blind. They said they could save her eye sight but its really expensive. That money can pay for it, thats why I wanna come too. Her time's come and I gotta do something!" Joey explained to Yugi of whom was listening and getting where Joey was coming from. There was no why that he would deny his friend this. "I understand Joey. But I dont know if they will let you. We'll think of something Joey. You both Grandpa and your sister. I promise." The blonde felt his eyes water as he smiled and then hugged his best friend. "Thanks Yug'!"

Later Yugi and Joey went their separate ways for the day but knew within a few days that he would need to leave for the tournament. Now find a way for his best friend to come with.

Shadow had to admit that Joey Wheeler was one tough kid. At least, virtually. So, he and that other teen named Tristan, used to bully Yugi a few months back. But the one thing that she didn't expect, was to learn that young Yugi had guts, and that led her to believe that, maybe, he was more pure than she initially thought. He just stood up against someone twice, maybe three times, his own height! And, he got himself beat up to fend off his bullies' own bully! That took real courage; not to mention, impressive loyalty and judgement.

The genie appeared in her transparent form, next to the sitting Yugi. Sitting next her owner and master, Shadow smiled fondly at the scene before her. This was a true friendship that she was witnessing! And, she felt pity when Joey talked about his little sister. So, that was why he acted like he found a solution earlier: the blonde believes he can save her eyesight. That was a true brother-to-the-bone. She didn't know what it was like to go blind, but it sounded like a tradegy by the way Joey had described it. Though she was, again, curious on how he would plan to join Yugi on their trip.

Lafter that day, as they left the school for the docks, Shadow appeared once again, in spirit form, next to Yugi, as she followed him. "Yugi, may I say something freely?", she asked him, as if she was asking for permission, while walking with him.

Yugi had been walking in relative silence toward the docks when Shadow appeared in her transparent form. He couldnt help but brighten into a smile when Shadow appeared. Though when she wanted to ask something, Yugi looked at her confused. "You don't need permission from me to ask anything Shadow. Just ask away. What's on your mind?" the younger asked, though remembered he would need to remind her that there were many things that she wouldnt need to ask permission for.

Even as she walked, Shadow had her arms crossed across her chest; a very traditional position for her race. It showed how majestic and proud they were, and it also presents her obedience and patience. After two days of being in Yugi's possession, she's been patient with him. She, once again, looked down at her mistake to even ask for his permission in the first place, after he told her that she wouldn't need to. This confused her as well, but after a moment, she proceeded with her question. "Your friend said that he used to bully you. After everything he did to you, what made you decide into defending him?", she wanted to know why someone like Yugi would forgive someone, who gave him nothing but misery.

Yugi did kind of start to feel bad when he noticed her display of disappointment in what she must have considered a mistake. But Yugi kept smiling. When she asked as to why he defended Joey the way he did after all that Joey had put him through, Yugi looked ahead and smiled fondly. "I knew there was more Joey than being a bully. It was that feeling that i had. After finding out that his life was rough, all i wanted to do then was try to be his friend. But back then i was too shy, you know? I had never been great at making friends. When we got that bully expelled, Joey dove after that puzzle piece and gave it back. I knew then he changed and ever since, we became friends. Tristen came along about the same time." Yugi explained with that fond smile still on his lips as they walked. He would never forget it.

"Wow, I never thought of it that way", and Shadow didn't. "Where I come from, forgiveness wasn't taken lightly. So, we keep it to ourselves to prevent punishment", she was looking down at the ground again as they walked. Come to think of it, she will never forgive the man that killed her sister in the first place. She remembered it like it was yesterday, even though it happened five years ago. The genie, however, remembered that the boy was present next to her. This was a new chapter; the past is past, but that doesn't she was will forget what happened. "Hey, is that the dock you were talking about?", having to already spot their destination, she hoped to change the subject.

Yugi was surprised to hear about what she had said though it made sense, though it was sad to hear. But liked to see the positive side to things. Looking to the docks pointed out by Shadow, he nodded. "That is." A large ship like crusier was docked there with crates and cargo that was being loaded on as there were Duelists from all over lined up and lining up. "Thats alot of Duelists. You ready?" Yugi asked as grabbed the straps of his backpack. He was nervous.

Shadow smiled fondly, as she stopped with him to see this vessel on water. She remembered traveling with Pegasus on these crafts. The views were nice, but it was slightly uncomfortable traveling with him. Hopefully, this time would be much different. She looked back at Yugi when he asked her if she was prepared. The genie nodded, passing him some silent encouragement of her own. She was ready, but was he? "Are you?", she asked to be sure.
