[IC] Doctor Who - Blood Bath (TenthDoctorFan and ladyonyx04)

Sat on the jump seat of the TARDIS, the Doctor let out another deep sigh. His long, thin legs were perched on the edge of the console, while his hands fiddled with the small device he'd been tinkering with for a good half hour.

"What more can I do to you?" He muttered to the device, holding up to his face. "I don't even remember what I was meant to be doing..."

He placed the small object beside him, removing his thick black rimmed glasses and placing them back into the jacket of his blue suit. Looking around, he realised just how quiet it was without Donna. Usually she would be sat beside him, laughing about something stupid they had gotten up to recently or joking about how skinny he was. But no. She was gone. Along with everyone else.

Suddenly, a loud bleeping noise began to emit from the TARDIS, bringing the Doctor out of his thinking trance. Instantly, the Doctor sprang to his feet, pulling the monitor around to face him so he could read the Gallifreyan symbols blurting all over the screen.

"Oh that's interesting," The Doctor commented to himself. "An alien signal,eh? Well, let's check it out!"

He ran around to the other side of the console and began to frantically push levers and press buttons as he locked onto the signal the time machine was picking up. The large green rotor began to groan into life and the Doctor sprinted back around to the monitor. After a few moments of being thrown about, the Doctor heard the TARDIS thump to a halt.

"Getting a bit rough old girl, were both not as young as we used to be, can't afford to be knocked around like that anymore." He said to his ship affectionately, giving the console a pat. He then glided over to the coral beam that his coat was hanging onto and he shrugged it onto his shoulders. "Right then, Allons-y!"

The Doctor walked over to the TARDIS doors and slowly began to open them, with no idea what to expect.

Why in the hell had she been talked into working so late?! Danielle Ilya Hotailing walked down the hallway of the empty building grumbling under her breath about fucking Brits and their pretty accents and how she'd love to shove a brick down their throats. Dani, as she was affectionately called, was born and raised an American drawn here by a few factors: healthcare, lower taxes, and the relatively cute guys with that accent that was to die for. She was a sucker for them, but then again, what right hot blooded female wasn't a sucker for a sexy accent? I mean honestly, how else had actors gotten so famous if they couldn't change their accents? She was lost in her random thoughts, which she did a lot when she thought she saw something in the hall and she stopped. "Ello?" She called out curiously pushing up a pair of red glasses up her nose. Without them she couldn't see three inches away from her face without her contacts, and they were such a bugger to get in her eyes that she didn't bother with them half the time. Who, besides herself for time and a half, would be stupid enough to stay in this building for longer than she absolutely had to? Well besides the night guard of course but he should have left....she checked her clock that glowed in the dark. More than ten minutes ago. It was then she had the sense that she could perhaps be in very real trouble. She wasn't one to ignore those gut feelings, after all it's what had told her to move an ocean away from her family and friends, and so continued to walk down the hall warily looking around herself every so often not willing to be a victim but wasn't sure what else she could be in this situation.

The Doctor cautiously but curiously stepped through the TARDIS doors, glancing around to study where he had landed. He was rather taken aback when his location turned out to be what seemed like an empty hallway. It had all the features of an office building, formal but dark. It must be night time.

"Well, could have been worse," The Doctor stated to himself as he shut the TARDIS doors closed behind him. "I've landed in much st-"

As he looked down through the darkness, The Doctor suddenly noticed a young girl staring at him from across the hallway, a pair of red rimmed glasses perched on her nose as her glance turned to curiosity. Or fear.

"Oh, hello!" The Time Lord exclaimed as happily and as friendly as he could muster. "Sorry to bother you and I know this may seem a bit strange, but, could you possibly tell me where I am?"

"Bloody hell!" Dani said jumping in surprise at the voice turning around and seeing the stranger. She calmed down a bit realizing it was just a guy. "Well isn't that strange to go somewhere you haven't idea where you'll wind up?" She said a bit questioningly then another pressing question came to mind. "Who are you? I never saw you around here before and if the guard isn't around the doors would be locked on the outside." She questioned curiously and then realized she had yet to answer his question herself. "This is Peter Jones." She answered his question as to where he was currently.

(I chose a random store as I never been to London myself so forgive me if I get things wrong.)

The Doctor had obviously frightened the poor girl so he put his hands up slightly in a non-threatening manner to show her that he wasn't there to harm her.

"Yeah, sorry," The Doctor said in reply to the girls question. "I tend to wind up in places and not know where I am quite a bit." He took a couple of hesitant but friendly steps towards her, shoving his hands back into the pockets of his trench coat as the girl went on to question who he was.

"Oh, I'm just a traveller." The Doctor replied, smiling slightly. "Peter Jones, eh? We'll, that's a first. Tell me, have you noticed anything...strange going on around here lately?"

Dani relaxed a bit as this person did seem a bit friendly and harmless. At least to her anyway, and as mentioned she was a person to follow her instincts and they said he was trustworthy. "There isn't much weird going on these days, besides tonight, if you want to count that. I could have sworn there was a bit of danger here. Yet, all I found so far is you, strange traveler." She said motioning to him and once more pushing the glasses up the bridge of her nose as they had fallen a bit, once more over her blue/green eyes out of automatic reflex. "Could have been my overactive imagination of course." She said for it very well easily could have been. She was prone to having a bit of an overactive imagination...but then again that would be like saying a kid on a sugar high was destructive.

The Doctor listened to the girl carefully, but when she claimed to have seen nothing strange, he frowned slightly.

"Hm, I wonder where the alien signal was coming from." He pondered, pulling out his sonic screwdriver and holding it up in front of him. He scanned the area around him and then brought the tool to his ear. "Well, there's definitely something here, the sonics picked something up."

"Pardon? Did you just say 'alien signal'?" Dani asked certain he had spoken wrong and became even more confused when he pulled out some sort of mechanical device that glowed on the top when he held it in front of him. She was a bit worried that he was on something but she dismissed that. Despite being a bit odd, there had to be some reason he believed there were aliens here. Not that she would believe it until she saw it, being stubborn was pretty much a part of the package of her birthplace. "What is that?" She asked motioning to the sonic screwdriver never having seen it before and was actually quite interested. It looked pretty neat actually.

"An alien signal, yeah." The Doctor replied to the girls surprised reaction, continuing to scan around the corridor with his sonic, his thin figure twisting around like a bendy ruler. "Oh, what's this thing? This, is my sonic screwdriver. If you need to open a locked door or detect something strange, this is your gadget."

Suddenly, The Time Lords old eyes focused directly behind the girl, as the sonic screwdriver began to bleep faster and faster. He took a few steps forward, before he lowered his hands down back to his side, not keeping his eyes from further down the corridor. He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

"Well, this is...bad." The Doctor commented. Stood behind the young girl, was what looked like the night guard. A big, muscular and tattooed individual with a threatening look in his dark green eyes as he seemed to glare menacingly at the Doctor.

"Hey," The Doctor indicated to the young girl in front of him, holding up his hand slowly as if for her to take. "Come slowly to me." The whole time, he never let his vision leave the 'night guard.'

Within a few seconds that the sonic screwdriver went off crazily, Dani's shoulders straightens as she hears the stranger remark about something bad and staring right behind her. She saw how he extended a hand and told her to slowly come closer to her. Just don't look behind you. Its a silly warning, but still. She thought as she carefully and slowly like the stranger said, walked towards him. She would follow her advice even if she was curious but could tell that whatever was behind her certainly was not a friendly thing. Once she got close enough she took his hand for the first time noticing that the stranger was a rather skinny man, yet still had handsome features, even if she couldn't really make them out in the shadows.

The Doctor was relived when the young girl took his hand without much hesitation and he led her to stand beside him. The night guard continued to keep eye contact with the Time Lord.

"You can give up the act," The Doctor said sternly, tightening his grip on the girls hand. "No wonder my TARDIS picked up a signal here, you certainly don't belong here, do you?" As the Doctor questioned the man, he began to growl. A low threatening growl that began to get louder and louder the more the Doctor spoke. "What are you doing on Earth?"

Suddenly, the man seemed to stop his menacing growling and before the Doctor could say anything more, the human figure of the male began to change. Even through the darkness of the corridor, it was clear to see the mans skin beginning to crawl and change. His once pink skin began to turn green, and the man pilled on pounds of green flesh, growing long clawed hands and a snout that replicated a lizard snout. Without trying to draw to much attention, the Doctor leaned over to the girls ear and whispered into her ear.

"On the count of three, I want you to run with me. Don't let go of my hand, you got that?" He told her firmly. "You ready? One...two...three...RUN!"

Dani hadn't fought with the stranger as he pulled her closer to him, and began to talk with the thing close to them. She looked up a bit when he told her to be ready to run. If her adrenaline wasn't running so fast, she doubted she'd be able to do as he said. But she was ready to get the hell out of dodge, and began to run along with the stranger never letting go of her hold on his hand when he yelled at her to run. Damn, hope this won't have to go long. I was never a good runner. I wasn't bad neither, but still. She thought keeping up with the stranger though pushing herself. She didn't want to be whatever that thing was dinner thank you very much.

The Doctor kept a strong grip on the young girls hand as they sprinted around the corridor and down the darkly lit hallway. Office doors zoomed past them as a threatening growl emitted from behind them. The thing was now in pursuit of them. The Doctor knew that they wouldn't be able to outrun it. They had to find another means of escape.

Pulling out his sonic screwdriver again, the Doctor aimed his tool at a large metal door with a sign above it reading 'Storage'. The sound of angry steps behind them almost shrouded the Doctor's thoughts as he crashed into the door and quickly opened it, shoving the young girl in first, and then throwing himself in afterwards. He speedily slammed the door shut and aimed the sonic screwdriver at the lock, hearing a satisfactory 'click'.

Dani had pushed herself a bit much but was glad to be at least relatively safer behind a locked door with the guy who she had ran with happy to know he made it relatively unharmed. She leaned against the wall catching her breath when she realized that including the darkness she couldn't see all that well, just a blur of a shadow and laughs a bit softly and hysterically. "Wonder if 'had to run from a life or death' situation is covered by my optologist." She said and standing up, for no way were they even close to being safe. If that thing was as huge as it sounded, that door would not last long against it's weight. "So stranger who saved my life, let's get going. That storage door against whatever the hell that thing was, is not going to last more than a minute." She said her fading Southern American accent being shown. "And by the way, just what is that thing?" She asked.

"Well, it looks to me like a Travarian. And if it is a Travarian then Earth is in a pretty huge amount of danger." The Doctor replied to the girls question. He then realised that he hadn't even had the chance to ask the young, and now American sounding, girl her name. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name, Miss-?"

But before he had even finished his sentence, a loud and bone-crunching bang emitted from the door and the Doctor took a couple of steps backwards in surprise. They needed to get out of there and fast. Using his keen Time Lord vision, he could see stacks of boxes in the dark room and no other means of escape. However, as he glanced over to the back wall, he spotted what looked like a tiny bit of light coming from behind a tall block of boxes. He instantly rushed over and began to remove the boxes, revealing a small window. That was their escape.

"It's a bit small but it's all we've got." The Doctor commented, removing his sonic from his pocket and scanning the window, hearing a small click as it unlocked. He pulled it open and turned to the young girl. "Come on, you go first." He said to her over the loud bangs coming from the door.

"Danielle Hotailing. You may call me Dani though." Dani answered his question and shrugs figuring she fit through a tinier hole before this, so this was just fine since the storage was close to the street. She slid through the window quickly as she could landing hard on her feet. "Travarian?" She asked confused as he followed suit and shook her head. "And you are?" She asks to be polite. She was forgetting her manners but then again this cercumstance was odd. But what an interesting tale that's for sure.

"Dani, huh?" The Doctor said as the girl rushed over to the window and easily crammed herself through it. "Nice name, Dani, it's a very p-"

The Doctor was cut off when the furious banging on the door began to get louder, and he suddenly saw the metal frame of the door give in to a small dent. He quickly turned to the small window and slowly began to slip his arms and head through.

"I'm the Doctor," the Time Lord replied to Danis question as he gradually appeared through the window, the sound of the alien becoming even louder from inside the room. However, as he reached his chest, his progressed slowed and he grunted as he tried to shove himself through. But nothing.

"Oh dear..."

Dani looked up at the Doctor, hearing him start to say something about her name. Maybe that it was pretty, before he cut himself off and was halfway through when he seemed to be unable to move. Trying to determine what was wrong. Not really being able to see that well, she got a box and quickly got up it getting to the window and noticing that his suit was caught in the window. She bit her lip softly. "Forgive me for ruining such a nice suit you have. I'll fix it if we get out of this." She promised for she did work at a clothing store and had poor eyesight because she was tasked with the clothes if they got ripped, so knew how to sew properly, and pulled with all her might, being around older brothers and being from where she was, she got the Doctor out of the window with tears in his suit, having thought that would happen. Then something hit her in that moment when he hit the ground. He just gave her a title, not really a name.
"Doctor who?" She asked not knowing that was a question he got more than he probably ever wanted. But before he could properly answer the question, the door to the storage room burst in and do did that Travarian thing. "Never mind, let's focus on living." She said decisively, she'd probably never figure it out a small voice in the back of her head told her. But that was ignored for they still were in boiling water.

The Doctor grunted as he tried to push himself forward, but he didn't seem to be getting anywhere. He noticed Dani grab a box and step up towards his trapped figure, feeling slightly uncomfortable as she began to poke at his midriff. When she figured out it was his suit, he frowned.

"Oh, I love this suit, Charlie Chaplin gave it to me..." He said, almost forgetting the situation they were in and he quickly snapped back to reality. "Just do what you have to do." He continued, giving another grunt as he tried to move forward. Thankfully, after some harsh tugging, he felt himself fall through the rest of the window and he landed on the concrete below, the strong smell of alley trash hitting his nose instantly. There was then a loud crash and the Time Lord could here the enraged growl of the alien as it searched the storage room for their scent inside the building . He speedily got to his feet and looked towards Dani.

"Okay, we need to get out of here so I can figure out what's going on here," The Doctor stated, "That Travarian won't leave the building and unfortunately that means I wont be able to get to my TARDIS, for now anyway. Is there anywhere quiet or private nearby, Dani?"

Dani looks at the Doctor a look of confusion written plainly on her face. Charlie Chaplin? THE Charlie Chaplin? TARDIS? But it seemed he figured out that she had questions she wanted answered and that he would answer them just somewhere quiet and private. She quickly thought of places near by that would be both which he required. "Perhaps the park? There's one not too far from here. And it's late enough that pretty much everyone sane should be to bed by now. Will that work or will the hotel three miles from here be better and we can just sit and talk in a room?" She asked. She would wait as patiently as she could to get her answers from this man. She gathered up the tatters of the suit thinking that a dark blue thread would match it perfectly and that she could probably fix it as best as she could, placing the tatters into her pants pocket making sure that she had everything she had placed there, which consisted of her ID and credit card, was still there and nods satisfied.
