I lied. I'm so sorry. Eighth graders are terrible little shits that leave me completely exhausted from the sheer lack of respect much less actually trying to teach them a damn thing. I will post tomorrow if I have to lock myself to the keyboard to do so. And I shall try and make it worth 2 weeks wait.

Hahahaha it's quite alright teachings a difficult job and I kind of understood, I used to be there myself and I couldn't help feeling bad for my teacher. I hope there's at least one or two that show they're at least trying to learn, that's how it was in my class. Respect for going for it, I know enough people who wouldn't go near an eight grade class so do what you gotta do.

The duties of a teacher stressing you out? I haven't done any formal teaching but what little I've done has been stressful, worthwhile but stressful and sometimes not thankful.
Hopefully the feeling's passed by now.

It's satisfying when there are the students who want to learn- which I have an entire class of them- my favorite and the one I look forward to everyday. Then there's the class full of kids who don't give a flipping shit and I can't get squat done cause they'd rather talk and goof off than accomplish anything. If I commit suicide it will be because of that class.

Well at the very least you have one that wishes to learn, I couldn't imagine having class after class with no desire to learn anything.
Some don't understand the stress a teacher endures, I didn't until I actually had to teach. (which not all of them not wanted to learn) and when I was in high school half my classes had students like that, I felt sympathy for the teacher but I couldn't empathize until later.
Still within the roughest piece of rock can shine the brightest diamond.
I know it's not the best analogy but you serve as one of the polishers so I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor. I personally don't think I'd have the patience for it it's necessary though. Older generation passes things to the younger, it's just how it works.

I'm certainly trying to do some polishing. But honestly, I'm counting down until June. If I teach again next year- it will not be at this school.

I hope the next school's a bit more accommodating in terms of students. I went to a school with a bit of reputation where I'm from and I actually came to class and saw my teacher crying though she was trying to hide it.
I'm not sure what happened but students have gotten...rougher if that's the right term, perhaps inconsiderate fits better in describing them.

Uh yea. Especially considering my class doesn't matter anyway. I can't fail them. If they have a 12, I have to override it to a 60 for report cards. And even if they fail my class and the EOG- which will reflect bad on me- they go on to high school anyways. So why bother paying attention at all? I seriously sat there once and waited 20 minutes for people to stop talking long enough to let me get the instructions for a debate out- something I thought they would enjoy doing- and it just didn't get done. And the assistant principal came in there and I would have cried if I had enough left in me at that point to care, but it's hard now to be upset about it when it isn't going to change.

I wonder if it's that No Child Left Behind act, I heard that was a doubled edged sword.
That sounds awful, I've heard of tests and all that not mattering with children passing anyway in some instances, but to hear the process from someone involved that's actually depressing.
I know a college teacher who left teaching middle school, the moment the kids started becoming the enemy to her, that's where she drew the line.
Though I know a few that enjoy teaching, more than likely because the class is responsive, it's rewarding when they walk away with the knowledge.
The ones that don't care sometimes find out too late how important it was.

I'm going back to school to get my doctorate eventually. My end goal is to get my novels published and teach at the college level. Cause I love sharing things that I've learned, so I do still want to teach, just heaven forbid it's not going to be middle school.

Hahaha well you've got a goal at least which puts you ahead of some.

It's good you still want to teach, I'd imagine after an experience like that some would walk away from the idea but at the very least it's an absolute middle school is out of the question.

It was tempting. I thought at first that it was a sign that it wasn't meant for me. That I wasn't supposed to be a teacher because I must be a bad one if I can't do anything about those kids, but it boils down to I don't know how to get on to 14 year olds without talking to them like I would my little brother >_> Which could get me fired cause I hit him XD

That's...that's a tough one and it's good you got past that, shows some tenacity.
Well the general consensus is it's only a crime if one is caught but that's a whole other matter, good work keep professional.
I've had to put on a business smile while listening to a thirteen year old go on about...just...just everything.

I have 95 14 years olds throughout the day. Not swearing is very difficult.

But finally got my post up. Suppose I shouldn't complain. At least we still have the site.

That is understandable, there's a decent chance one would slip from me.

A hidden silver lining it's good to have the site still, though there's still a few things being fixed it's here.
