It was cold here, not temperature wise, but the room was lifeless. Bright fluorescent lights shone down from above, illuminating the dark steel and stone. There was a small amount of natural light coming in through the entrance from the side of the mountain, but it wasn’t enough to make it feel homely. Yet this was home now. Holding onto the small bag of clothes she’d brought with her Rylla looked around. “It’s the old transport bay.” The woman beside her explained. She turned to look up to her, standing beside her in a strange costume.

She tried to look for some kind of warmth in those eyes, but there wasn’t much there either. “We used to store old kinds of vehicles here before we moved, but they came with us. It’s okay though, it’s not like any of you can drive anyway.” Rylla looked at her curiously before she returned to looking around the room. The woman beside her shifted uncomfortably as did the large bird on his shoulder. “Don’t worry; the rest should be here soon.” She said evenly, her voice was smooth and calm. You. They. The people she was referring to were more people around her age who were to become Rylla’s ‘teammates’.

The ‘she’ in question was named Quinn, and the bird’s name was… Valor, she believed and was some kind of bird of prey but she had never been a bird expert. Quinn had not said much during their time together, short as it had been. She was a hero, though she didn’t have any super powers she was still a hero. She had amazing skill with a crossbow, and it was rumoured that she could communicate with Valor. But Rylla was too shy to ask. All she knew was that the pair shared an extremely close bond.

Quinn had been nice enough to let her stay in her house whilst they had been getting this place ready, but Quinn’s house was small, and she wasn’t ready to take care of a teenager. The base had been fitted out with rooms for her to live in, and any of the others if they so choose to. She had admitted she wouldn’t be of use to teach her how to use her powers either, since she hadn't an ounce of magical blood in her body. But Rylla would have been able to tell that for herself. She could tell when people had magical abilities. They just had a different aura about them.

The bird on Quinn’s shoulder suddenly tensed, turning to look at the entrance to the cave and Quinn turned slowly. “Well… first of the arrivals is here.” She looked down to the young brunette at her side, clutching that thick book tightly to her chest. “Just relax Rylla, you’ll be fine.”

"I told you, Jason, we're not flying anymore so you can let go." The metal power armor clanged with every step it took through the base, on its back was looked to be a teen whose arms and legs were tied around the shoulders, bending in a very inhuman way.
"But this is fun, I'm a backpack! Or a parachute!" Said the strange teen
"Or a pain in my- Oh look, we're not the first ones here. That you, Quinn? Been a while hasn't it, haven't fought with you since... Draco the Conjurer, right?"

Jason didn't feel much of a need to get his fathers attention in their current company as there was a younger girl with the hawk woman his father had clearly labeled as a hero. If this Quinn brought this girl then that meant she must be a hero in training as well, but there wasn't a similarity in appearance to make them related... would he be the only one here with a family member as their mentor? Jason realized he had been silently dangling from his fathers back and thought it would be best to stand on his own feet for an introduction... what he didn't think of was how hard it would be to untangle his arms and legs without any hands to use.
'Sure, now I realize I should have listened to him int he first place.' he thought as he struggled.

While it was not quick and unnoticeable he managed to get his hands free before his father untied his feet in what looked like a single movement. This surprised him as he was not ready for freedom to suddenly and fell to the ground. He stood shamefully as his first impression among other heroes was him being a goof and falling on his a... butt. He looked up from the floor to meet the eyes of his new team mate and fellow trainee. He held out his hand to shake hers while giving his name.

"I'm Jason and I am made of rubber." As he said that his hand went limp and drooped to the floor as he lost control again.
