[OOC] The League of Young Heroes

The world has always had heroes. But these heroes aren't going to be around forever. And so, a new generation of heroes emerges.

This RP will be about this new team of super heroes. They're all young, all still in training. Each player will need a young hero (between 13-17) and a mentor for their hero though the main focus will be on the young heroes, which will have their own team with their own missions on their own, without the adults.

A few things I did not think of/ make clear in the interest check:
-This will be fairly present time.
-The young team's base will be hidden within a mountain by the sea (original I know but I'm trying to get a very classic superhero feel here)
-Multiple characters are just fine with me, either two separate partners or maybe the mentor has two pupils, that's fine.
-Powers: this was bought up in the interest check and I'm really not looking for mutants in this RP, think more Justice League than X-Men. So powers will be more Aliens, Magical beings, extra-dimensional beings, people who just happen to be very talented, scientific side effects kind of things.
-If you want to draw inspiration from already existing things, that's cool, wanna be just like Robin? That's fine. But I don't want already existing characters actually in the RP, so you can't be like 'this is my character and his mentor is Batman'. His mentor could have been trained by Batman, but no Batman.

Powers/Abilities:

• Can create a forcefield around his body that reflects any and all kinetic energy. Basically anything with mass that moves, which in turn can include explosions. Not only that, but said reflections are stronger then when they would originally hit them.



• His punches are more powerful and he can run much faster as he can redirect the recoil of his fists or feet back outwards, thus giving more force.



• He can throw rocks and small objects with the speed and force of bullets.



• He can create tiny extensions of his shield at least 100 feet away, one for each hand where he directs it and are also about the size of his hands as well.

Weaknesses: While he can reflect anything with kinetic energy, he can't actually reflect pure energy. This is mostly because it has no mass to reflect it with. This can include even something as simple as fire. He's also very naive when it comes to right and wrong, refusing the concept of grey morality altogether and tends to see things as strictly black or white. Being also new to the profession, he still get's scared rather easily, especially if the Villain is particularly scary or he sees civilians are killed/mutilated in horrible ways. Finally, weather this is a strength or a weakness, no matter who the person he fights, he REFUSES to ever kill them.

Powers/Abilities: Has a fair amount of magical ability, which derives from her ancestors, as such can sense the magical aura in others.
Her main power is used to control the Starr Cards, powerful cards that were created by her ancestors and passed down through her family using the Sealing Wand or Starr Wand. These cards have various abilities depending on which one is used, 52 in total.
The Cards were created by the half-English, half-Chinese sorcerer named Reed Starr. They are the result of the combination of Eastern and Western magics and formed the basis for a new kind of magic unlike any other seen so far. The cards are all stored inside the Starr Book, sealed with powerful magic and passed down from generation to generation within the family.
The cards represent a combination of Eastern and Western magic centered on the concepts of natural forces and elements.
The cards can only be controlled under your command if you become it's owner. In order for it to be yours, you must sign your name, otherwise they can run loose again. The card will go to whoever binds it's power, meaning the one who defeated it.
Each card has its own personality, ranging from good-natured to violent and its own powers that are mostly centered around an elemental force or performing a specific task. When in use or acting on their own, the cards assume alternative forms that vary from card to card.
Within the deck, there is a hierarchy. Firstly comes the Master/Mistress of the Cards, below them are the Four Elements (the Earthy, the Firey, the Windy and the Watery) and the Two Attributes (Light and Dark). The remaining forty-six cards are divided up between those six. Each attribute has seven cards under them, while each element has eight under it.

Weaknesses: Being young in age, Rylla has very little experience in the field of battle. She often gets nervous in fights and is not very confrontation in nature, meaning she often hesitates when action is needed.
Her magical abilities are also still developing, meaning her ability to control the Starr cards is rather limited at this point, meaning at this point she can only manage to use one card at a time, though has hopes of being able to use multiple in the future, some of the more powerful cards rendering her weak or even unconscious after use.
She can only use the cards after summoning the Sealing/Starr wand, which requires a verbal incantation and a short space of uninterrupted time. Should she be separated from the wand or card/s she would have to retrieve it again before being able to use any more cards. She must also always carry the book or cards around with her, as she can’t use their power without the cards physically present.
One last drawback is that not all of the cards are useful in battle, as that was not their original intention and balance was needed in order to create them. So whilst some present obvious uses, others may have to be used in more creative ways to be useful, or perhaps avoided all together in a fight, limiting her options further.

History:
Born into a magical family on her mother’s side she was trained from a very young age to harness her magical powers and began to learn how to use the Starr cards, learning all their abilities, personalities and uses. Only a few months ago the cards were given to her and transferred to her name, which was odd as it was usually later in their teens that the cards would change hands. However the reasoning for this became apparent when her mother and father died in a car accident a month or so later.
Her mother having been her mentor, since there was no other, had arranged for a friend of hers to take to Rylla to a place where she’d be able to continue to develop her magical abilities through practical experience, organising for her to join a new group of young super heroes that had been spoken about forming a few months prior.

Powers/Abilities: Fire Manipulation- Users can create, shape and manipulate fire, the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products, flame being the visible portion of the fire. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different. Applications may include the creation/generation, absorption.

Selective Healing- Only able to heal himself from burns (duh).

Flexibility and Agility- Able to bend and move about with both ease and speed, not unlike a cat. Not a power, but a hella useful ability.

Weaknesses: Andrew wears a cat mask his mentor gave him which is meant to control his destructive abilities. They limit his power, and when he uses too much, the mask would sometimes cause him pain. Having been taken in by his mentor at a young age, he is reliant on her, and though it may not seem it, he often needs to be ordered to do something before he does anything. Andrew also has a tendency to be overly obedient to the point he’d hurt himself, though only ever to his mentor- and cases in which Ellione demands he risks is life is surprisingly high. Though his loyalty can be earned, he reports directly to Ellione first, and if she so demands, he would probably stab clients or those associates in the back, even if the idea was horrible and doing so would result in his heavy beating/near death. Other weaknesses may include his inability to trust or communicate kindly with strangers right away, as well as his dislike for cooperative work unless with someone he deems “worthy”- or, to be more honest, people who his mentor finds worthy.

History: Andrew met his mentor around nine or ten, he himself is not sure. He had been well aware of his abilities prior to this time, though it was only when his mentor found him did he realize how terrifying it was. Ellione appeared before him almost like a (very short) goddess, covered in thick attire not unlike a fireman's equipment, its largeness drowning her small frame. In a circle of dry grass, she forced upon him a cat mask that stuck like glue- no matter how hard he pulled and pried, it refused to be removed. The fire that had erupted around him had died down, and upon a brief explanation, his new self-appointed mentor had stated that the mask would chain his abilities, allowing them less power to start training with.

And thus, he spent the next five or so years training with the pink haired woman, fear of both his destructive abilities as well as his mentor's. He's reached the point where he can control his ability well enough, though only with his mask on and is as reliant on it as he is to Ellione. He has slowly regressed from simply a quiet individual to a distrustful one, as Ellione, despite appearances, is what one may call a sadistic mentor. Because of his healing skills, no physical scars show, though it is clear in the way he stays close to Ellione and obeys silently at her demands that she has done things to him that has broken him.

Equipment: The only things he carries on his body is the cat mask which is more often than not stuck on his face. It is rare that he takes the mask off, only ever taking it off in front of others if the mask was damaged, and even then he'd try to keep as much of it on his body as possible. If the mask is demolished, it takes no less than a day for him to get a new one with a different design from Ellione.

Appearance: Andrew's daily attire consists usually of the usual outfits of a fashionable young teen, with the addition of the cat mask. When doing heroic deeds, its not to say he has a special outfit like some heroes, instead simply wearing the blackest clothes. His mask is white, primarily, hints of red and yellow designs, and Ellione decided that in order to create a "God Of Death" feel as he creeps out of his flames. His black clothes consist primarily of a turtleneck, the sleeves just hitting the middle of his forearms, paired with pants that hit half his shin. Over said jeans are long black songs that reach right below his knee, covered mostly by combat boots covered in hints of fire and ash that were scrubbed off. The contrast between his dark outfit and his white mask is quite the sight to see, especially when viewed in the darkness of night.

Alias: Rose Thorn

Gender: Female

Powers/Abilities:Weight Manipulation- The user is able to increase/decrease their weight to cause maximum/minimum damage (such as in cases when jumping off of buildings/ jumping onto enemies), the user can manipulate the weight of anything to make it very light and easy to move or very heavy and impossible to move. The user can make the object so heavy it can break through almost anything or so light that it can just float away. Note that she can only manipulate something after having touched it. Picking up a truck after making it light as a feather and then tossing it would mean her touch with said truck reverts it back into its original weight. Her umbrella, which is used as her weapon, usually never leaves her hand, and thus can be as heavy as aforementioned truck or light as a feather.

Empathic Healing- in which the user shifts damage between individuals, regardless of whether it is physical, mental, spiritual or supernatural. This may involve the taking of one person's wounds and inflicting it on the user, or transferring said wounds onto an enemy. (Lesser known ability of Rose Thorn's that has been kept from the public)

Other: Stands at a meager four foot eleven, and often disguises as a child or gets mistaken for one. Her body is said size due to her abilities and her frequent use of them.

She holds an umbrella that is applicable as a cane, a weapon (in which she uses her weight manipulation to make it as heavy as a truck), a free ride (in which she changes it's weight as well as her own to carry her off into the air), or part of her childish design considering its printed pattern of fluffy animals.

Ellione is very on and off in terms of heroic duties, and though her body appears to be very able and ready for bad guy fighting, she has officially retired as a hero, instead dedicating her time to honing her charge's abilities.

Powers/Abilities: Rubber body, extremely durable, may change appearance*, and can harden his form*.
(*These powers are later learned when he has more control).
Weaknesses: Melts in extreme heat, freezes in the cold, must take "medicine" every 72 hours to stay alive. If frozen, Quasi's body can be broken apart and the only way to repair him is to melt him and then allow Quasi to regain form which takes a great deal of time. Jason was afraid of getting hurt but as Quasi only few things can. His greatest fear has become the cold as it is his most dire weakness.
Equipment: He carries nothing with him

History: Jason is the son of the legendary Mastermind, a hero whose technological prowess is unmatched. Jason's mother died only 5 years ago when she was murdered by Mastermind's nemesis, The Mad Doctor. Jason only shared an eye color with his mother and was much more like his father, even if he did not have the heroic intelligence he still had the heroic initiative to hunt down criminals like the man who murdered his mother. So while his father was away Jason learned how to fight by taking classes to become a boxer and once he completed the courses his school had offered he felt his abilities as a pugilist were at their peak, that he could take on anyone, maybe even his dad! The day came where Jason's urge to fight evil surpassed his fears of being wounded by it again.

Little did Jason know, that day he would face his mothers murderer for the first time... but not the last. Jason tried to follow his fathers power suit one day, but the Amazing Machine was too fast and went out of sight over the local slums. Jason's attempts to find his father in the slums were pointless and the longer he stayed the further he became lost. It was chance that put Jason at the fight between The Doctor and Mastermind and it was his appearance that shifted the outcome. Their battle was fierce and Jason suddenly realized he was in deep over his head, it was then that the Doctor pulled out a surprise gadget and fired it at Mastermind. Jason would not remember what happened but was told that the gadget was supposed to turn Mastermind's suit into rubber on contact, but Jason stood in the way and then he was immediately changed instead. Weeks later his father managed to turn the rubber statue into a rubber boy.

Jason explained his actions to his father who has agreed to train him as a super hero in the mentor program. Now as Quasi, Jason is learning to control his powers and discover the rest of his abilities so that he may one day put away the Mad Doctor.

Okay guys, we're pretty much ready to get underway, just a few touch ups and I'll post the first IC post probably tomorrow. There's one thing I forgot to mention in the first post, with powers I'm super pedantic about powers matching up on characters. I can't stand it when they don't make sense together for me, like having someone who can fly, but also make spikes some out of their skin. For me powers have to have a relationship, like ice control and an immunity to cold, 2 different powers but work together. So we may have to fix some things there I'm super sorry about imposing this rule after you've all made your CS, but I haven't done a 'super' RP in ages so I forgot about it.

Tempest- Just need to get the CS done

Letter- You need to stick an age on Ellione, unless there's a specific reason like amnesia etc, there's no reason for her not to have an age, also I don't see how Weight Manipulation and Healing Empathy (if there is a relation I'm missing please feel free to tell me). Also need to do a power origin for Andrew, remembering no 'I'm a mutant from birth' excuse.

Bosco- I don't see a relation between Uncanny strength and rubber body, extremely durable and can change his appearance. I could see it between the last 3, rubber is pretty durable and with with proper application can lead to appearance change. Maybe just make him stronger than normal (or is he that way already and I just misread, I'm sorry if I did)? Rather than just having it a super power. That would be fine. Just also need a power origin.
As for the dad, he's perfect ^_^
