He has a calm, mellow voice and a surprising philosophical streak—especially when he's pissed on the tonic!—but at the end of the day he's still an argumentative punk who spends his money as quickly as he earns it. People are often shocked to find a swearing, whisky-swigging Scot behind the stoic gas mask, and the calm, steady hands of the sniper rifle.
  • Danny minds his own business, which always puts a greater momentum in the rumors spinning around a man. Of the few stalkers who think he's "fuckin' crazy" (most don't mind him, as outside of his drunken opining, he has never gone out of his way to lie, cheat, steal, or recklessly kill), some think that once the Zone emerged, he decided to kill his girlfriend and make his escape here. Some think he's in it because he thrives on the chaos and anarchy. Others are just keen on making sure they're not the next person sitting pretty in his crosshairs.
• 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:
  • Danny never was a lad for highfalutin notions like ambition and pride; he defined his life by contentedness and short-term happiness, and he was perfectly content as a busboy and a short-order cook in a hole-in-the-wall Glasgow chippy, passing his time with booze, drugs, and trespassing. So his visit to the Zone would have been seen by his family and friends (had he told them) as strange, at the very least; what did he intend to discover? Who did he intend to meet? Public urination and the occasional indecency were not worth escaping polite society for the profound dangers of the irradiated Zone. He didn't need a "clean slate," as did so many murderers and rapists.
  • He had come, rather, as a "tourist," a dumb city-slicker who saved up big money (at least by his standards) for a ferry, a truck ride, and an escort service, to get a taste of the Zone in safe, sterile laboratory conditions; surrounded by guides and guards, poking about at the farthest edges of the Circle, where no real threats were ever posed to anyone. Not even the stupidest bandits operated so close to the checkpoints, where soldiers were armed with G-thirty-sixes and good bulletproof armor. Indeed, he had arrived seeking a strange sort of action-packed vacation, a brief respite from the monotony of Glasgow while also avoiding the boring hotels and monotonous sunny skies of a resort; but whatever Danny found, it caused him to stay. He stopped paying rent on his trashy little apartment and he scraped around til he could afford the supplies he needed, which at the time meant shitty black market pistols and milsurp rations, hardly the equipment of a true stalker, but nonetheless, what he managed to hoard under Britain's tight weapons laws. Through a combination of street-smarts, dumb luck, and a habit of getting on well with other addicts and antisocials, he has improved his situation considerably, having earned something of a reputation, at least in one particular trading town, as a guide and small-time assassin.
  • He seems not to have told the people from his "old life" that he has come here, as he frets rather consistently about particular people finding him, at which point he'll be "proper pooched." Hopefully that rumored dead girlfriend ain't coming back from the dead to seek revenge; most stalkers have seen more bizarre things in the Zone, after all.
  • Usually he's an escort for dumb little tourist trips around the forests and decrepit villages near the Circle (the barbwire surrounding nearly the entire circumference of the Zone), a job which yawns him terribly. Only occasionally does something exciting happen to him, from mutant hunting to more serious bandit repulsion.
• 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬:
  • VSS Vintorez chambered for subsonic 9×39mm, a rare round of Russian origin. To Danny's knowledge there is exactly one trader who stocks it, with whom Danny by necessity maintains a steady and stable business relationship. Anyway, he has deemed the benefits worth the costs; he can shoot with no muzzle flash and with very little noise, allowing him to snipe without revealing his position. This is more important than many stalkers know; neither boars nor bandits like very often to travel alone!
  • Beretta 92 chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum. Danny compensates somewhat for his rare rifle ammo by using the world's most common military pistol ammo, easy both to scrounge and to buy from traders, and as far as bullets go, pretty goddamn cheap. So at least he's never totally defenseless if shit gets clatty. Oddly, he stocks up on tracer rounds for this pistol when he can find them.

In the midst of all the death and madness the zone has to offer, she does her best to remain a professional – she’s never friendly, but soft-spoken, authoritative, and sometimes stern. Ethically, she lives on the ‘I did what I had to’ system – she’s not fond of violence, but if a bandit needs to be brutally murdered and left on the road as a warning to others, well…

  • Chloe was born in Dublin, Ireland, to a family of criminals and gangsters – violence was a childhood companion, and her cadre of older brothers made sure she learned how to defend herself practically before she learned how to read. For a long time she hoped to use her brains to escape from the violent life she was born into, graduating from medical school and finally being employed at a city hospital – unfortunately, financial woes soon drew her back into a life of crime, and she became one of the most well-known mob doctors in Ireland.
    The problem, of course, with being a well-known mob doctor is that sooner or later, the wrong person is going to find out about you. A successful sting operation brought her family’s criminal empire low, and before long someone squealed on her. Chloe was exposed, disgraced and on the run, and her few remaining connections only barely managed to smuggle her somewhere she could still earn a living.
    Everyone needs a doctor, and those in the Zone are no exception. For the past three years Chloe has traveled through the zone, offering her services to anyone willing to pay her – every camp or trading outpost or bandit fortress she comes to has some idiot in need of stitching up, and medical professionals are (unsurprisingly) rare in those kinds of hellholes. Most people who know of ‘The Doctor’ are glad to see her – even a few of the bandit groups know she’s more good to them alive than dead. Thus far she’s managed to survive through a combination of luck, brutality and the protection of a few powerful groups, but heaven knows those’ll only get you so far in a place filled with maniacs.

He believes that the reality is better than any sort of lie or fantasy. Those settlements are likely ambushed by mutants or other humans, which is worst than being attacked by mutants. Unlike other traders and merchants, he is not looking for fame or riches. He just wants to help out others where the world has turned their backs on Europe. He has thoughts of leaving the hellhole and going to America, but he wants to help his fellow-men out. If and only when the world cares for the survivors, then he will consider retirement and move away.
    
    But, that is nothing more than a fantasy. A false sense of hope, at most.

  • Hegedüs József has spent his life all over Europe, trying to live within the odious landmass. Many people are sure that he was born long before Europe became a toxic wasteland filled with thugs and criminals. "Too much" is all he said when someone asked him about his personal life. Besides that 'small' issue, he often goes to populated settlements and tries his best to offer aid and give out any supplies—for a small fee. He only asks money because it is the most essential thing that will get you food and ammo. And he also often helps out with the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations that are brave enough to aid Europe.
    
    While he is out there, looking for supplies and useful stuff, he often has hired help with him. Hegedüs absolutely hates being alone because it could get you killed out there. For extra cash, he often gets help in settlements that he stops at. And no-one knows how long that he has done it as well. His English also has improved enough that entrepreneurs and tourists could understand him. Oh, he also dislikes those 'entrepreneurs' and 'tourists' that are there for 'fun'. He avoids those people no matter the situation.

  • Jaded, cynical, and slow to trust, Kiril prefers to work alone, seeing others as burdens to his work. He enjoys peace and quiet, and absolutely hates it when someone intrudes his privacy. Most of the time they would either get a warning shot, or when Kiril is just having a bad day, a bullet to the brain. He is motivated by money, which is why he came to the Zone in the first place. However, he also has serious psychopathic tendencies, and he is somewhat sadistic as a result. Often, he would capture a bandit or some wild animal and proceed to torture them to death, before throwing their bodies out. Despite his questionable sanity, Kiril comes off as polite enough but blunt to strangers.
• 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:
  
  • Kiril was born in Yakutsk, Sakha Republic, Russia to a family of middle-class workers. His family had managed to avoid the destruction of Western Europe thanks to living far east enough to escape the blastwaves. His father was a mechanic, and his mother was a nurse. The two of them thought him their skills, although he seemed to be far more interested in the art of fixing things rather than healing people. He was already fixing broken appliances around his family home before he could even do basic math. Hunting was a favourite pastime of his father, and he would often bring young Kiril along, which he greatly enjoyed. At the age of nine he fired his first gun, his father's old Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle. It was more or less a family heirloom as it belonged to his grandfather, a Red Army soldier who had fought in the Second World War and had been lucky enough to survive it. In fact, he was one of the many men who participated in the Battle of Berlin, and proudly saw the tattered Nazi flag taken off and replaced by the glorious Soviet flag fluttering in the wind.
    
    Inspired by the acts of his grandfather, he joined the Russian Armed Forces. He had enough skill to become a sniper, and served in the military for five years, becoming a sergeant during that time, before he was discharged due to developing psychopathy after he was discovered torturing numerous animals, laughing the whole time. The cause of this development is unknown, such that even Kiril himself is unsure. With nothing to do, he wandered around Russia in search to find a job that suited his interests. Several years rolled by without any success, and his family had fallen on hard times. Desperate, he tried once more, and eventually came to hear of a location known as the 'Zone' in the battered remains of Western Europe. Apparently, it was good money finding old machinery and pre-war tech. The people who lived there were known as 'Stalkers', scavengers, more or less who made a living by hunting for old technology. Sure, there was a similar one in Chernobyl, Ukraine, but the Zone that had formed in Western Europe was much more recent, and as a result probably had better stuff. Besides, the entire region had been ravaged, and maybe even bits of old government secrets could be scavenged. Convinced that this was his true calling, Kiril suited up, used whatever money he had left to buy some gear and weapons, and headed into the unknown.
    
    The years spent surviving would prove to be hazardous, with bandits trying to take his head off and dangerous mutants wanting to eat him alive. As a result, he has become jaded, cynical, and extremely distrustful. However, he was still fairly well-known throughout the Zone for his legendary accuracy with his Dragunov, and his excellent tracking skills, earning him the name 'Tracker'. He also became to be known as either 'Forge' or 'Scrap' due to his mechanical skills, easily repairing broken equipment, and building improvised gear and parts from scrap metal.

He's also surprisingly upbeat given the environments, and people tend to take that as some form of mental illness. He tries to get along with others, but they find his constant manic outlook to be unnerving, and tend to distance themselves from him. He doesn't like hurting other humans, but he won't hesitate to kill someone if it means saving his own hide. He spends most of his time just walking the Zone, gathering supplies for the day, and trying to brighten the day of whoever he meets. Overall, he's just a crazy outlier in the world of the Zones, though he does have a grimmer side that shows itself when he drinks, or has time to think for long periods.

  • Born and raised in rural Australia, Oscar was always at home in the wild. Growing up, he spent most of his free time outside, trying to see how far out he could get into the wild before it was time to go back home. He took great fascination in the wildlife and foliage as well, watching the animals, running from the more dangerous ones, and eventually learning how to scare them off. When he became an adult, he spent a brief time in the Australian army, becoming familiar with weapons and survival training, and seeking a 'grand adventure'. The army did not provide this, with most activities being training exercises. So he decided to seek out real thrills with the one thing he new best, the wilderness. This put him on the path of becoming a solo survivalist, living out in the wilds of the world, trying to live for the the fun of it. Starting out by making a living in the Outback desert of his homeland, living off the land. After that he tried different environments, the Amazon jungle, the Sahara desert, the lower Arctic, and now one of the Zones.

  • Andrew is completely and utterly harmless in nature. He's one of those people that would wave at you as you walked down the street. Kindness follows the man, always willing to help those who need it. Although, he doesn't always have that much to give as he spends most of his money travelling and Whisky. However, to those that know him, he's an arrogant son of a bitch! But if it's brought up in conversation, he'll prove he has every right to be, and dismisses the comment entirely. Ever since he was a kid, he's loved going on nature walks. His father gave him his first camera at age 7, and he's had it ever since. As well as photography, he enjoys collecting things, and his room is filled with what most people consider useless junk. Andrew was a model child, and he hardly ever broke the rules. The most he ever does wrong is find himself in places he shouldn't be, such as the rooftops of Scotland. However, he is only there to take photos and if confronted he would have complied.

  • Andrew grew up in a middle-class household in the Isle of Man. He had strict parents, but they loosened up as he grew older. Andrew earned their trust by being a model student to his teachers. He did his homework on time, studied, and made straight A's in class. He even tutored his fellow students for some cash on the side! He was valedictorian of his class of 12, and he could have done whatever he wanted. He could have gone to Oxford if he had wanted. Instead, he chose to go to the Edinburgh School of Art in Scotland, where he studied photography. Just as he did in high school, he made top marks in all of his classes. His entire life, he'd spent his time wallowing in his own success. This didn't change when he opened his own photography business. His business took off like a rocket, he had begun by taking wedding photos. Eventually he moved on to taking photos of people on hiking trips, and the scenery itself. When the Two Day War happened, he was in high school and he had already made up his mind to be a photographer. When he learned about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. through television, he knew that's what he'd wanted to do. He wanted to be the one documenting the STALKERS. Through chance, one of his clients, an old college friend that was getting married knew a guy in the Zone that could potentially help him. So, he went out and got a blowtorch and a bolt-cutter, tools of infiltration and trespassing. Through his friend, he'd also bought a pistol for self defense from the mutants. For his pack, he grabbed some canned food, a can-opener, two bottles of water, and just to celebrate his own inspiration and genius, two rather expensive bottles of Scotch. He would receive his weapon and ammunition from a hollowed tree near where he was to enter the Zone.

  • Gideon is someone who is not strictly a loner, but also is someone who does not see himself as needing or wanting too many close ties in The Zone. Jovial, gregarious and talkative to his friends (of which he keeps some, but not many) or those he's trying to strike a bargain with, and curt but polite to others who aren't strangers, he otherwise mostly keeps to himself and his business unless asked, and even then he can be evasive.
    
    A studious and concentrated mind, he fully commits himself to a task to try and see it through to the best of his ability . . . so long as its not hare-brained stupid and the pay-off is compelling enough.
    
    He's also quite protective of what he has and will go to pretty considerable precautions to protect his possessions, such as they are.

  • Gideon grew up in Ontario, Canada, born to a middle-class family in a suburban city he had lived a fairly structured and stable life in his early years before getting his first taste of freedom in University. There he studied in the Humanities, with dreams of becoming a professor, but enormous tuition costs combined with even larger costs of living greatly depressed his prospects of living his dream comfortably. He believed that education should be free, but barring that he believed that if he were expected to have money then he wanted to find the best way to make money as quickly as possible. He had no desire to toil away in some boring desk job for decades earning a meagre pay-check when he could be out enjoying life and all the pleasures it could bring as well, or partaking in a career he actually enjoyed when he is in the prime years of his life.
    
    Fears of nuclear war and annihilation from said war had also plagued on his mind, though after the brief exchange of the Two-Day War and finding that they weren't all going to be vaporized or die of cancer immediately, he found out an excellent means of profiting off of the unique situation there. The raw materials and equipment that could be salvaged from within The Zones could yield tremendous profits on the world market just by weight alone, for those brave enough to risk radiation and potential death.
    
    Thus, working through his academic channels, Gideon managed to procure himself into an exchange program in Germany, under the pretense of getting a Masters studying the human impacts of The Zones. Mostly to help with a convincing story if he got stopped by German Immigration or possibly the Military forces cordoning off whichever Zone he picked to try and enter, though he trusted his money to be more convincing than whatever bullshit story he came up with. He used what funds he had saved to buy some basic gear for travelling and protection within the Zone, and bribed his way through some of the Guards of The Circle with promises of more to come given access to the wealth that could be found within The Zone.
    
    That was five years ago, since then, Gideon has worked to become self-sufficient within the Zone, become a aware to its numerous hazards and how to protect himself against them, and has worked to make a name for himself as a proficient scavenger and salvager. Working both on commission and out of his own volition, he picks at the bones of dead cities and human habitations for anything of value on the Black Market, trying to save up enough money to get rich quick and return home without being killed or arrested.

  • Serious, for the most part, but that’s primarily attributed to the events that have transpired in her life as of late. She can just as easily become the social butterfly around a group of individuals if the mood fits. Amelia has somewhat of a short temper when things don’t go as planned, although she’s been working on her attitude as picking a fight with the wrong person can get one seriously injured or killed.
    
    Amelia doesn’t necessarily have a preference whether she’s alone or with a group of people. She realizes that there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Her best attribute is her ability to keep a secret. People can always trust her with their information unless it’s putting someone else at risk, then she will tell whomever necessary.

  • Born and raised in Cuba to a surgeon and pediatrician, Amelia never had to worry much about a decent upbringing. She started learning English while in Kindergarten, and a few years later she had nearly perfected the language. When she turned 12, her parents moved the family to Spain to start over, so to speak. They were met there by a cousin who helped them out until they were able to settle down.
    
    Amelia continued studying English while living in Spain. She loved the language and ultimately, she planned on becoming a writer or maybe a university professor down the line. On occasion, her parents traveled throughout Europe for work, leaving the girl alone at home during her teenage years. She never minded the privacy, but would periodically get herself in trouble and would later be reprimanded by her parents upon their return.
    
    Because her parents’ last trip was to Germany, they obviously never made it back. It took nearly half a year since Amelia last heard from them before she initiated her search. Shortly after her arrival, she heard the unfortunate news of their passing. This nearly made the young woman grab a gun and pull the trigger on herself, but she realized that’s the last thing her parents would have wanted for her so instead, she stuck around to be near them “in spirit”. Amelia would visit her parents’ grave on a daily basis, but as time passed, she visited every other day, concentrating more on her role as messenger.
    
    Currently, Amelia keeps herself busy delivering messages and certain contraband in exchange for money.

  • Anneli stands at around 5 feet, 7 inches. She keeps her platinum, nearly silver hair in a short cut to just above her shoulders all around. Nothing is particularly remarkable about her body with the exception of some scaring on her back and left forearm, both obviously from some sort of animal. Her grey-blue eyes, however, are of interest. Her left eye is clouded, seemingly without a pupil. It was the result of some sort of childhood injury, but has done little to interfere with Anneli's life. While she is weaker in that eye, it's not enough to warrant contacts or glasses. However, sometimes when staring at something, she will turn her head slightly, moving her right eye slightly closer, and often doing this without even noticing.

  • Well, where do we start to pick apart the mess that is Anneli Krackov? Hmm.... I guess first and foremost, she's a crazy murderous bitch. This is somebody who has very little to no compunctions about killing people. In fact, she even enjoys the thrill of combat, to a pretty irritating degree. While most would rock back and forth, drown themselves in alcohol, or whatever after a long, and hard battle, Anneli would look like she just finished playing a good game of football! Her mood only affected by whether the mission was a success or a failure. Now don't be fooled, as you may be thinking, "Since she enjoys fighting so much, she'll probably get snuffed out once this devil inevitably bites off more than she can chew." Once again, sadly, that is not the case. Anneli is also a smart motherfucker, who knows when to call it quits. While she may enjoy the thrill of combat, she isn't suicidal.
    Terrifyingly unpredictable, unsettlingly calm, and friendly at the drop of a hat? Yeah... Remember kids, do not stick your dick in crazy!
• 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:
  
  
  
  • Alright! So you may be wondering now, what the hell happened in the past to make this chick so murder happy? A dirty Uncle? Abusive parents? A satanic cult with that one dude who always forgets to put the toilet seat down when he's done?
    
    Nope, no, and not even close, yet oddly specific!
    
    Anneli was born to a family in the countryside of Finland. They were your typical Scandinavian liberals, with very progressive ideas and loved each other very much.... Wait what? Yep, her father would take her on hunting trips, her Russian mother would teach her how to make Kompot, and generally speaking, she had a damn good childhood. For you see, nobody really knows where this psycho came from, and even her parents know little about how far that "overaggressive nature" could really go. She'd get into fights for the sake of fighting, loved contact sports, and always begged her father to go hunting more often. Her parents didn't really picked up on the hints that their daughter my be a kill-crazed sociopath. Even when she joined the military.
    
    After the Two-Day War, she was a woman without a goal, without a path. The military had been a huge disappointment, no matter what group she joined. It was just training, training, and more fucking training! However, new and bright opportunities emerged with the creation of the Exclusion Zones in Europe! Hooray for the Nuclear Holocaust!
    
    The governments who hosted these pockets of lawless land soon realized that all those terrible bad guys were smuggling themselves into the Zones to escape rightful justice and prosecution! So, there was a need to send hired guns into these badlands and bring the justice to these evil doers! But wait! Killing criminals without trial, excuting individuals without the say of a judge and a jury? The press could have a field day with the implications of this! Thus, the demand for STALKER contract killers rose wonderfully, and soon Anneli found her dream job. She was to go after people who... well, the government would rather be dead, but also would rather not let the "4th Estate" get wind of it. I mean, if it's just STALKERS killing STALKERS, what of it? Is the sky blue as well?
    
    So far, Anneli has garnered a nice reputation and a good base clientele, all the while her parents think she's running a successful software company in Germany. That's actually the hardest part of this job. Convincing her parents that she is totally not killing people for money or anything.
• 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬:
  
  
  
  • AS VAL chambered for subsonic 9×39mm, a rare round of Russian origin. Part of the "Special Rifle" series, it shares many similar components to its sister gun, the VSS Vintorez. The differences lie with the stock and the materials. The AS VAL has a skeletal folding stock and is made up of steel and high impact polymer, making it well liked among its users for being a relatively light, powerful assault rifle. While the ammunition is rare and forces Anneli to go to the single trader in the Zone who stocks it, it's well worth it in her eyes as getting the first shot in is always an advantage.
  • M1911 Colt Pistol chambered for .45 rounds. The classic design of the M1911 is one of the few things Anneli trusts. She favors it especially for the reliability and .45 rounds. No matter how crazed the mutant, or armored the bandit, a .45 will at least knock your ass to the ground with sheer force.
  • U.S. M1917 "Knuckle Duster" Trench Knife is a favorite of Anneli's. Its unique, triangular blade not only allows it to stab through thick hides/materials, but also leaves holes in the victims, not cuts. Wounds from this blade can't be as easily stitched up. It also features a spiked, metal handguard that doubles as brass knuckles, making this a wonderful CQC weapon.
  • The KM2000 German Combat Knife serves a more... practical purpose for Anneli. It's a bitch to open up cans, pry stuff open, and do other survival chores with a trench knife, so Anneli carries this on her person as well. Besides, you can never have enough backup blades!

  • At this point, her personality is not what it used to be. She's so tired and in pain most of the time that she just comes off as cranky - which she definitely is. She's definitely stubborn and brave - maybe to the point of recklessness. Deep down she does care and wants to help people, but she's not sure what much she can do. Mostly she keeps to herself, but sometimes she can be found helping those less fortunate. That doesn't mean she won't fight back against anyone who tries to attack her.

  • Neasa was the second oldest of four kids, originally, but after one died as a young child from a sudden illness and another had been a soldier, unfortunately, during the time of the "Two Days War" who didn't come home. Suddenly Neasa became the oldest, and her younger brother got it in his head to go to the Zone. Neasa still isn't sure why; he left without saying anything, just a note saying he was going to the Zone. Maybe he stupidly thought their older sister hadn't actually died in the war and was alive in the Zone. Maybe he just wanted some adventure. Maybe he was suicidal. Whatever the reason, he ran off and Neasa followed after him, planning to catch him before he got to the Zone and drag his ass home.
  • But she didn't. Being stubborn and refusing to lose her last sibling, Neasa went into the Zone after him. It's been over a year. She still hasn't found him, and at this point, she figures she's not coming home - and he's already dead.
  • She longer bothers with a gas mask unless going into a very toxic area. She had to clean vomit out of her gas mask way too many times and she figures she's dead anyways so what's the point. Bad enough she has to live in clothes that are hard with blood from blisters that seem to form all over her body each time she thinks one has finally healed. Because of this though, she's got a bit of a kamikaze attitude, so she's willing to do jobs that nobody who wants to live is willing to do. Saw something shiny you want but are way too afraid to go over there and get it? Eh, she doesn't have long anyways, as long as the pay is good.

  • In a few words, Scott is smart, sociable, fearless, opportunistic, and perceptive. He is generally a more outgoing person among those who live in the zone. He's always trying to make a good first impression to those he meets; be it by helping them out a little bit, or just by cracking a joke, hence his nickname. The irony is his sense of humor is often hit or miss, his dark and dry sense of humor sometimes falling flat. Though he's not the most charismatic person on the planet, he is generally pleasant to talk to, and a smooth talker on top of that. He is known for taking advantage of any opportunities that may interest him, and he has a broad array of interests, both real and feigned.
• 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:
  
  • Scott was born and raised in the suburbs of Colorado Springs. He was always a smart person, but also something of a troublemaker. School was always easy for him, but he had a habit of letting his grades slip for whatever reason; typically lack of doing homework or whatever.
    
    He was always looking for adventure, and was something of an adrenaline junkie. He would often search the city for abandoned buildings, wade through underground drainage systems, or try to scale tall buildings. Often times he would have to evade others, and only a few times was he ever actually caught. He managed to come up with a good story on the fly though, and usually simply got escorted away and let off with a warning. His parents, at one point, decided to try to restrict his movements on several occasions. Of course, this only made him want to do it more, without a care in the world for the possible consequences. It was convenient that Scott already had a thirst for adventure, even before the war happened. He was in 11th grade at the time, and as soon as he heard that nukes were flying, he immediately sought refuge underground. Thankfully, the US wasn't affected much, and he emerged some time later to find that the world seemingly hadn't ended.
    
    Of course, the zone hadn't gained it's popularity overnight, or else Scott would have ran straight there. Instead he joined the US Army to satiate his thirst for danger. He went on to graduate infantry training and was soon deployed to Iraq to fight in the Gulf War. By that point though, Desert Storm was winding down and Scott never actually saw much combat. Shortly after getting sent back home, he managed to be involved in a grenade mishap during a training exercise which resulted in moderately debilitating injuries to his leg. It was nothing some rehab couldn't fix, but with Scott's EAS date approaching, he decided to take a medical discharge and cash in on the benefits. It wasn't until then that rumors about the exclusion zones began to reach him. Naturally, his lust for adventure took over and, despite his injuries, decided to make plans to go in.
    
    His training and experience in urban exploration proved useful in smuggling himself and some weapons onto a cargo ship heading for Hamburg. Getting off, sneaking around port authorities and getting to the zone were easy tasks. The hard part was learning the harsh reality that, despite his training, he had never had to fight or kill another human being yet. Oddly enough, even when one had a gun pointed at his head, he found it difficult to pull the trigger when the tables were turned.
