As my fiancé said previously, I suggest you give a thorough read over all my rules and tutorials in the opening post before you post up a 'Public CS' like this (same goes for the 'Private CS' you sent). I've put a lot of rules and specifications for how character sheets have to be presented, the way writing works here, and the sort of images we're using, and you've more or less ignored a lot of it.

Also, the 'Private CS' had a lot of information (such as 'Biography') pretty much listed as unknown -- you've completely missed the point that it's impossible for your character to keep secrets in this role-play from certain NPCs. The characters were invited here because someone knows everything (personality, history, secrets, thoughts, et cetera) about them, and so the whole point of the 'Private CS' is to allow me to write those who possess such knowledge of your character without all that information being spoiled to the other players. There's no exceptions to this -- every player character must follow the rules, regardless of how long they'll remain alive.

Until this is all taken into account, I'll avoid commenting about the character themselves. I like the idea of the unique culture this character has compared to the rest of our cast so far, but you'll need to put a lot of work into this if I'm going to be able to accept it -- I'm not able to as it currently is, since it'll be unfair to both myself and to everyone who followed all my rules. If you have questions, feel free to run them by me, but I've got no intention of compromising my rules.

Normally I'd say this over PM instead of in the thread, but I want anyone else who enters this thread to consider this a valuable reminder. I'm aware that I pointed you in the direction of this thread, but that doesn't change the situation.

Looking cool, and we've already gone over everything we needed to. Epic piece of music by the way -- I've been listening to it a lot since this CS introduced me to it. I've never gotten around to watching that anime, but if this is the quality of its OST then I'm definitely gonna look into the other tracks. Anyway, good work -- this has been accepted, so I'm just waiting on the 'Private CS' now.

On a side note, we've finally got another guy. The curse of the 'let's give Bonaparte (or Leonard) a harem' has been slightly lifted.

Honestly not surprised you picked that piece of music, since it fits the character and it's always been a favourite of yours -- I like it a lot too, and I've been listening to it similar to tsukune's pick. Since we'd discussed things beforehand over phone and whatnot, I've obviously got no problems here and I'll just be waiting for the 'Private CS' before getting you to post this over to the character tab. I already know that what you've got planned for it's appropriate, but I figured it's best to follow standard procedure so no one feels like I'm giving you special treatment. I'm really liking this character though, so looking forward to seeing her in action.

Before I say anything -- I'd like to wish you all a belated Merry Christmas, and I hope you all have a great New Year. 2016 has - in all honesty - been a complete train wreck for a variety of reasons, even in my own life personally. I guess here's hoping that the next year coming is an improvement, and I'd like this role-play to be something that can provide you all with enjoyment.

I appreciate you guys (and Ailyn) taking the time to get things going with your character sheets without needless delay (I know tsukune hasn't finished his 'Private CS', but I imagine it's only a matter of time now). I hope you enjoy the role-play, which is now essentially open for people who want to start early and write their character's experiences/interactions/et cetera prior to us making our way to the primary setting. You're not obligated to do this, so consider it an option if you'd enjoy it -- I'll notify everyone once they officially need to start posting.

Aewin and Melo -- once you two aren't busy, I'd appreciate you making the edit in your character sheets involving replacing 'Trivia' with 'Notes'. I appreciate you doing it already, Pudding, so cheers for that.

I'm aware that some of you're busy with the holidays and such, so I don't mind that there hasn't been any communication in the thread itself yet, especially since you've been contacting me outside of it. Just try to get your characters together as soon as you're able to (I know a couple of you have sent me basic ideas over PM and such), because I'd like to not have this role-play become just another thread to die before it even begins like so many seem to on this site.

Status updates:

• Leonard Christian-Walker's 'Public CS' has received a few more little improvements.

• Lucifer Van Bonaparte's CS was also improved slightly.

• The opening IC post has been touched up to make it look how I wanted ideally, and as stated previous the role-play is now unofficially open.

• Accepted 'Private CS' PMs will soon receive an additional PM from me, and I'd prefer if nobody actually respond to those, since I want to keep those PM threads limited to your CS and the reply.

I see how much work you have/are putting in it and I feel like I'm not able to meet the quota and will come out lacking. Main reason for this is that I'm RPing by phone, have been for a year, and the coding is a bother among other stuff.

Usually in other RPs even the GM is a bit lacking on the info and setting which gives of a sense of "doesn't matter if I screw up" but seeing your level of dedication I don't want to dissapoint.

Sorry to bait you by showing interest in an RP I figured I couldn't meet the requirements.

I appreciate you noticing that I'm not half-arsing things. While I do understand your reasoning for wanting to pull out, I just want you to know - for the record, not because I want to dissuade your decision - that I'd be willing to help out with any problems that I was able to assist with. I don't completely understand the coding problem, but you don't need to explain it to me.

Honestly, I just wanted to make sure my attitude towards things was clear. I'm not trying to make this role-play unapproachable to people, but I don't believe in personally half-arsing things, especially considering it takes a lot more work and depth to make a non-fandom role-play successful than it does to make one based off a popular franchise successful.

I leave it entirely at your own discretion whether or not you choose to reveal what you received to the others during the course of the IC -- there may or may not be consequences for doing so. Once others get completely accepted, they'll receive something similar.

Tall and blonde, it would surprise nobody to find out that Conrad had a lot of German blood flowing through his veins. Still, while he managed to inherit his father's blonde hair, it was his mother's brown eyes through which he viewed the world. They're eyes that are intelligent and forlorn in equal measure, and they often gave him the look of somebody who wants to speak, but holds back.

Having lived nearly half his life in Kent, when Conrad does speak it's in a near-authentic English accent, with only hints of his German dialect slipping through. He would almost avoid notice, all told, if not for the fact that his right forearm ends in a stump halfway to the hand. A birth defect, but one he has managed to adapt to quite easily. Still, it was a fact that certainly didn't help his already light weight for his size.

Synopsis:
Conrad's life before adulthood is as uninteresting as is it unimportant, as he tells it. He lived in Germany his entire life. At a young age he was gripped with the desire to be a writer, and began learning English so that he could reach a wider audience. It was natural then, that he should make plans to immigrate to the British Isles upon reach adulthood. He had no love for his father's land, and the literature he had grown up with filled him with a longing to reside in the UK, with many of his favorite authors having filled him with a idealized image of their home. It was as he was making preparations to leave Germany that the high point of his life was realized. Firstly, he met his wife, a Bosnian woman, who agreed to move to England with him. Secondly, he began work on his book, "Forlorn Hope", a fictional account of an unnamed war orphan. Thirdly, he turned eighteen, and began his journey into adulthood by quite literally sailing away from his childhood.

Upon publication "Forlorn Hope, written in English, received international acclaim, and modest success in sales. Still, in spite of this, his success was short lived. Seemingly having lost his muse, Conrad (As he began stylizing himself, even using it as his pen name over the German Konrad) never published another book. Instead he took a job as a simple store clerk as his royalties began to dwindle, and by the time they had been together five years his marriage ended in divorce. He has spent the last few years of his life living quietly, outside of the public eye. His short success having not held the world's attention for long.

Altogether he is social, but rather reserved, preferring to steer any conversation into a direction he is comfortable with. He appears to also be well read, or at least experienced, dispensing advice where he feel's it appropriate. Although who knows if he does this for praise or simply because he enjoys it. A writer's ego lives for being flattered, after all. In either case, he seems to be someone who enjoys partaking in conversation, even if he can seem a little... uncomfortable with his own voice at times.

Notes:

• Enjoys piano, and plays as proficiently as his handicap allows. Still, prefers to relax by sticking to the rhythmic left hand sections.
• Seems to prefer speaking in English, even though it is not his native language.
• Despite having worked at the same small town grocer for years, has not moved up into any sort of managerial position.

Go ahead and post the 'Public CS' into the character tab, using the same hider as you did here. As with the rest of the people who've been accepted so far, it's entirely at your own discretion if you take part in the IC prior to the point where I officially notify the entire group that they need to. This first part of the role-play is mostly to create atmosphere, and give some early introductions and allow some of the characters to potentially meet each other before the gathering.

Cheers for replacing 'Trivia' with 'Notes', Melo. I'm aware that you only did it for the character tab, while I asked everyone to do it in both versions, but honestly it's not a big deal considering that - unlike the 'Theme Music' change, which was irrelevant to you currently but had to happen in both to speed up the loading of pages on the thread - the character tab is the place people should be looking at if they want to see our information, and the 'Notes' change was also made in the rules for everyone trying to join.

Status updates:

• Lucifer Van Bonaparte's CS had an additional piece of information added to his 'Also Known As' category, since it took me a while to settle on this. I'm still deciding how similar the character sheets for NPCs will be in comparison to player characters, so things might still change again in general.

• Another edit was made to the opening IC post, but it's entirely irrelevant for those who've already read the post outside of perhaps the final sentence. I was mostly including a visual description of the character because I usually do this whenever a new character is introduced in my writing and just forgot to because we've got character sheets. Figured it looked better with it there, and also allowed guests who don't read the character sheets to visualize things better. I shouldn't need to edit it again unless I find typos that my perfectionism can't ignore.

• As stated previously, I'm still open to people asking me to be the murderer and will be until such a time as the first murder happens, but no one is obligated to do this. I just think it's better if a player who'd actually enjoy the role takes it instead of someone being forced to play it. Naturally, say nothing about whether you want the role or not in this thread and ask me strictly over PM.

I can understand why people might make this misconception, since 'van _____' or 'von _____' are surnames in some countries, but 'Van' actually happens to be his middle name. To answer your question, yes they do -- the world's pretty close to the real world 2012 outside of all the hidden contemporary fantasy stuff, and the fact that certain figures who didn't exist in real life 2012 (such as Bonaparte) exist in this world and subsequently would have an impact on the flow of history and society. Then again, you're joking, so I don't know why I'm answering this. Probably because I can.

Lol, well, this thread certainly got a different atmosphere quickly. I get the feeling I'm gonna be hitting the 'Laugh' button a lot more than I thought I would unless I just start responding to posts with a laugh and only hit the button for the insanely funny ones.

Honestly though, it took a while to settle between 'Millionaire' and 'Billionaire', since I had to work out how common it was for people to potentially be a billionaire in 2012. Given how his existence likely has had a large impact on the economy in certain countries, I wanted to be careful of things like that since I tend to be a stickler for the details. I figured since he's mostly an anonymous benefactor though, he could likely be the fill in for a lot of real life anonymous benefactors in the era.

Also, I agree with that. My history with role-play is actually more common on messengers than it is on sites, and I can honestly say that having a really good OOC is usually what keeps a role-play alive -- no matter how good the IC is, people don't get the same feeling as they do if the community is on good terms, which is one of a few reasons I make a habit of becoming friends with the people I role-play with.

Most of my best role-playing experiences were with a very close circle of friends who were role-playing with me using my main story project's setting ('Guardian Ascension', or just 'GA'), which - just for the record - this role-play is very loosely connected to by virtue of spin-off/multiverse-type stuff.

Anyway, I've been contemplating a Discord chat, considering I planned to make a Discord channel for discussion about my GA project once I'm in a better state, but as it currently stands my PC is in a very bad condition and I'm trying to get all my important information off of it so I can transfer over to a new one. To put it into perspective, I have regular PC crashes and browser crashers -- like, very regular. Certain activities, such as browsing wikia sites (or other sites that have lots of active adds) are too much for this PC to handle, and so is running (or joining) something like a Discord chat. So it's more likely to be a thing once my new PC's up.
