Possibly pay up for the Annotated chronicles if you want some good laughs and non-required reading, though the annotated version contains spoilers. Seriously though. Read it. (Well...I'm UK, and I've never even heard of them before... plus, I have a very long list of what I need to buy... but I very much enjoy 'non-required' reading. Though, is the Annotated Chronicles a separate book/s or literally the books but with notes by characters or something?)

The annotated chronicles is the original trilogy bound into one massive tome, with annotations in the side that give further insight into the making of, as well as the world of, Krynn (It even has recipes!). It is entirely possible to read the book and avoid the spoilers, just in my case I would occasionally read snippets by accident. it's also about 20-30$ more (as a ten year old this book was literally my pride and joy

The best I can say (and I may be wrong) is that while LOTR created the fantasy genre as we know it, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Winter's Night and Spring Dawning, essentially made them mainstream -as much as possible with fantasy- Without these three books, entire fantasy worlds known worldwide i.e. Drizzit Dudden/forgotten realms, would have never happened. I hate to sound pushy, but more so than the wheel of time, Malazan book of the fallen (My favorite series since being introduced to it) a song of Ice and fire, these books should be read.

I may be slightly biased.

So I just got bored and googled the price (My copy fell apart years ago from numerous readings, should have gotten the hardcover, but I was only 10 and couldn't wait that long) Holy crap the price has skyrocketed to over 100$???? Honestly save the 70$ and just get the normal trilogy, or try and borrow one from a library.
