Hmm, it seems static lines are commonly used...not sure if that's the original method or if we'd have a ring to pull. Either way, it looks like you really, /really/ need either training, or someone you're attached to if you wanna jump properly, given that you need to keep a steady body position and not be tumbling to have the chute deploy properly.

I know. I served in the Finnish Defence Forces for six months as an infantryman, so I have some experience.
