"Dia duit nĂșĂosach!" Name: Caitriona Doitean Age: 18 Race: Dathia ("Colors") Appearance Standing at just beneath 5 feet, Caitriona has several common features for her people - her hair has multiple colors, the deep red of the roots moving into a transitory orange and then a yellow as if her hair was like fire itself. Depending on when you meet her, it may range between extremely well kept or completely ragged as if she had been running through a forest. Her body is lean and thin, and she tends to wear short dresses of a simple cloth comparable to linen or of various gathered plants woven into each other. Her face is fair, and sometimes she will apply various bits of paint to it as some sort of makeup.
On her back usually is a sack of linen, with strings wrapping it around her shoulders so it doesn't have to be carried. Attached to it is a wooden flute that has various engravings running up and down it's length, as well as a small porcelain flask for water and a finely crafted knife of some sort of white stone.
Her shoes are dissimilar to the rest of her selection, looking like something charlotte may be more familiar with in style. Additionally, one of her bags has the slight raddle of some sort of coin.
Abilities It will only take a few minutes of meeting the girl to figure out a few things about her: she can find anything within a forest, she can music that can enchant the hearts of the hardest to break. This is not to say there is some sort of magic about it, but rather that it is simply really good. Her appearance lends to some sort of tribal lifestyle, so it isn't surprising that the girl knows her ways around nature - she can read the stars, she can find water, and she can find food and even unique plants used in medicine or for other various purposes.
Additionally, her hair glows at night like a fire, and will change color to blue when a powerful magical presence is around, such as a VERY large predator.
The hair has magical properties as well. Caitriona is able to burn it in a flute and allow anyone nearby to speak to animals in a literal sense.
Personality Fickle, fun, and pun, this bard knows how to enjoy herself with others, often playing minor pranks or teasing them for the fun of it. She is kind, but not ridiculously self sacrificing: she has herself, and the people that raised her. While she believes that teaching others is important, she eventually expects her students to have learned for themselves.
However, she has always been very curious even among her people, which has led to her interacting with other cultures more than what her people would consider normal, and sometimes they even consider it too much.

"Hey, you wouldn't have seen any flower around here that has a yellow petal, would ya? I need one for, uh...'flavoring'."
"Charlotte LaChance. Now, if you don't need anything I really should be watching this beaker before it explodes." Name: Charlotte LaChance
"Nineteen." Age: 19
Race: Human
Appearance: Charlotte stands around five foot six. A pale complexion with messy, somewhat unkempt dark brown hair and cold blue eyes adorn her face. She has a slender frame, with no obvious muscles as she's not entirely one for physical activity, often time spending her days reading or practicing her chosen craft. She wears comfortable clothes that look like one might expect of someone born from high-society. Short pants, held up by a belt with a golden buckle, adorned with various pouches to carry items. Comfortable shoes with long, knee-high socks. Over her upper body, she wears a thick cloak with a hood, designed mostly to protect the wearer from the cold. Rarely takes it off, even in the warmer lands she finds herself in.
Personality: Insatiable curiosity, confident, stubborn, a bit on the childish side, doesn't like not getting her way, and has a bit of a one-track mind. As such her alchemy can sometimes suffer a bit as a result. Though indeed, she is talented, and if she doesn't let her one-track mind focus on something else after she starts something, she'd be fairly successful. She prefers to spend time outdoors with her plants and other alchemy reagents than in the company of people.
She tends to come off as rather serious and no-nonsense, and sometimes a sarcastic grump. Often time she wears a serious expression when people first meet her, though its only because she tends to have a one-track mind about things, and really doesn't like being interrupted. She's often thinking about various things and what properties plants might have.
That said, she is fairly friendly to most, and isn't hostile by any means. Just don't interrupt her work unless you have a really good reason. Aside from this, she's fairly intelligent and knows about a great deal many scholarly subjects. Mostly dealing with Magic and Alchemical pursuits, but she's read a great many number of books so she might surprise someone with her knowledge every now and then about something.
"DAMN YOUR EYES DON'T TOUCH THAT BEAKER-Argh, this is sensitive equipment!"
Abilities: Aside from the obviously impressive physical and mental abilities that humans possess, Charlotte is adept at potion brewing. Meaning, alchemy and making useful concoctions out of herbs, remedies, antidotes and other items found in the natural world. She's pretty much a savant when it comes to everything relating to it. Add that to some beginner interest in Botany, she could probably make quite the living selling and brewing potions. That said, she is still fairly young and has a lot of room for improvement in the field. Plus, almost all the flora and fauna on this new continent has yet to be documented. Meaning, until she goes around documenting and doing some trial and error, she's gonna be somewhat useless.
Not something a lot of sleepless nights watching beakers and flasks bubble can't fix, however.
A neat little list: -Good at alchemy -Fairly intelligent -Beginner Botanist -Cold tends to not bother her so much, since her home country was notoriously cold. -Not so good with animals, unfortunately. They tend to like using her as a chewtoy. -Physically speaking, she's a wet noodle strength wise. Fairly average stamina due to her fairly active lifestyle.
History: Born in Astril, Charlotte has been brought up around science, logic, reason, and even the odd magical related things most of her life. Aside from that, its not particularly interesting. While she herself wasn't born into the magic-using citadel of Astril, and was instead brought up in a small farming community near the border, she has always held an interest in magic, alchemy, and scholarly pursuits herself. So in between farming duties and helping her parents run the farm, she studied all sorts of books. Ones about history, magic, and otherwise.
And when she was fourteen, she was accepted into Astril itself as a student. And as confident as she was, she was sorely outclassed by a lot of the students there who had been training formally since their birth. She spent quite a few years there struggling to keep up with the other students, and quickly found herself as a bit of a loner and outcast among her peers. Not that she particularly minded, she'd rather have her books and studies anyways. Eventually she was labeled a bit of an eccentric.
It was when she was nineteen, she had to make a choice. Leave Astril and set off on her own, or effectively become a test subject. She doesn't like talking about the events that transpired leading up to that event, but she will say she killed about five scholars and blew up a lab.
Nation of Origin: Astril. A small, somewhat isolationist country known for its heavy delving into intellectual pursuits of all kinds.
Nation Lore: Astril is a small nation located far to north. Most of the country is cold, mountainous, and cold tundra and thick pine forests make up most of the climate. Over time, they have tamed the lands somewhat and built a thriving city located high in the frigid mountains. A tower like citadel, simply named 'Astril' over their first leader, that later became their small city.
In the past, they were a small group of intellectuals, scholarly types, dissatisfaction with their own cities. They traveled far to the north, seeking land unclaimed by others they could call home themselves. Eventually, they found their land in the cold north.
Overtime, they built a thriving city, founded upon not on diplomacy or military might, but on science, magic, and logic. When it was first founded, they welcomed all inquiries into the arcane and scientific nature, and shunned no question or line of research...no matter how 'unethical' it might have been perceived to be. Human, animal, and all sorts of experimentation was, and still is quite common. Of course, they don't exactly advertise this fact these days. If you're going to be doing something somewhat unethical, then you are expected to keep it under wraps and deal with any unintended consequences yourself...
Eventually, the city began withdrawing from the outside world, and though they still welcome intellectuals and those who wished to pursue arts of science and magic, they had developed a bit of a mindset that those outside their walls were somewhat...barbaric and uncivilized. Typical mage superiority mindset, really. Mix that with a somewhat reactionary mindset with a healthy dose of Xenophobia, (anyone considered an outsider and not born there, not racism per say. There are a variety of races that live here) you get some pretty narrow minded individuals.
Of course, it wasn't all easy for them. With their small numbers and generally small sized city, was almost taken over quite a number of times, if it wasn't for the quick thinking of their leaders. They maintain uneasy peace with any other city state in the area, but for the most part keep to themselves, and any outsiders are turned back at the border.
Misc: -Not everyone pursues magic theory or science here. Not everyone has the aptitude to perform equally well with magic, after all. As long as you make yourself useful, you'll probably fit in well. -A bit of a Meritocracy -Ruled by the 'Deacon of Astril'
Other: -Can be somewhat socially awkward at times, and has trouble holding a decent conversation about anything other than alchemy. -Makes some questionable potions sometimes. You really shouldn't get curious about some of the stuff she makes. -Don't bring up anything regarding an elixir of life or philosophers stone. You have been warned. If you do, bring ear plugs and make sure you don't have anything to do for the next hour.
Aislinn - shorter, lighter of hair. Extremely cheerful and confident when things are going right. A little younger than Cait and more innocent looking as a whole.
Name: Princess Isabella Raerith Calder, First princess of the Raerith Monarchy.
Race: Human.
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance: If there was one thing people would agree on, is that at first glance Isabella fits the word 'Princess' almost too perfectly. Standing at five seven, the somewhat taller than average girl has had a fairly good upbringing. Education, appearance, decorum, manners. All of it, and she very much looks the part. Her skin is free of blemishes and many would consider her to be fairly attractive.
That said, most would be easily able to tell she isn't comfortable in the armor she is wearing. In truth, the object while well-crafted, is ill suited for one such as herself who has never worn anything other than fancy dresses in her life.
Personality
At first glance, many would assume Isabella acts as she looks - the perfect princess. She always seems to carry an heir of grace and nobility around her, and seems to always act with a measure of decorum and purpose. She is incredibly polite in her mannerisms and seems to follow many of the expected customs of her homeland, the Raerith Monarchy.
While this does ring true on some level, truthfully Isabella is a bit on the socially anxious side. While she doens't stutter over her words and most of the time she is capable of keeping a calm, level headed facade - more often than not on the inside she's a bundle of nerves and indecision
History:
Isabella, is the middle child of the current rulers of the Raerith Monarchy - named after the first founder of it who long ago united some warring tribes through a long, bloody war campaign. Needless to say, she's had an interesting life growing up. And by interesting, I could equate it to being absolutely boring.
The Raerith monarchy is a very conservative realm, and heavily religious as far as their internal politics and beliefs go. They value the strength of ones sword arm, honor in combat, and value chivalry and traditional knight-hood above all else. In the realm, the magic and supernatural are seen as trickster-like spirits with impish intentions, or downright evil at worst. Isabella was brought up both believing all of these things as well as how to be a good princess and follow all the decorum expected of one.
Isabella didn't mind. How could she not? She didn't know of any other way of life. Unlike her older and younger brothers, she wasn't allowed outside of the castle grounds save for visiting the extravagant central monastery for church service and occasional outings to a evening ball at some nobles house. She spent most of her time growing up exploring the gardens, making occasional appearances at public events and being heavily educated by her tutors. Her life continued as such for most of her life, until she turned 18 when she stumbled upon something in the families personal archives...
A book.
About magic.
Anyone versed in the field would realize a number of unnatural things about the book, but Isabella being as naive as she was about the topic, only was fascinated by it. The book was old, bound in fading leather with odd symbols engraved onto either cover. Seeing the book sparked a curiosity she didn't know she had, so she took it from the archives and brought it back to her room, and hid it. She knew if she was found with it she'd be in more than a little trouble.
Two years went by as she tried to unravel its mysteries. Many say she changed quite a bit in that time - instead of simply going about her day to day and simply accepting her studies she picked up a rather intense fascination for old languages as well as began asking a few questions that could have gotten her into trouble had her parents heard her asking them. She didn't even tell her personal maid who she considered to be her best friend at the time.
Eventually though, the secrets came out and she was confronted by her parents. Needless to say, she's lucky to have not gotten the executioners axe. Instead, she was exiled under the pretense she had volunteer to both explore the wild lands outside of the continent. So her and around fifteen volunteers left with her.
Weapons:
Magic: Blood Draw Blood Draw is exactly as its name states. It allows the user to draw spilled blood to them. A basic art of the Life Drain magics, and all must start here when attempting to learn. She can draw blood to her as long as it's in a few feet radius and make use of it.
Blood Stitching A spell designed not to heal, but rather to keep someone fighting regardless of wounds. The blood stitches wounds together, staunching the flow of their own blood and invigorating the bodies healing processes. This is somewhat uncomfortable for the one being healed...at first. Some liken it to having the skin 'crawl'. Subsequent uses, starts to have a euphoric effect on the one being healed.
She mostly uses this on herself, when she has need of it as the art is usually looked down upon.
