The Imaginary District is something of an urban legend in Miura City. An unknown, isolated district, somehow split away from the world? An invisible and untouchable place where humans and youkai coexist? Naturally, it's impossible for the average person to accept the existence of such an absurd place. Who could possibly believe in a location where magic and mythology are real?

There are others who know better.

The Imaginary District is real. A place where humans freely show extraordinary abilities. Where youkai walk the streets. Where strange, supernatural occurrences happen every day. Where the uncommon is commonplace. The rest of the world hides these facts away, but within the Imaginary District, beyond the boundary, there are no such systems. The barrier shuts most people from entering or leaving, though those with supernatural abilities can pierce it. Signals, such as those for television or radio, can also penetrate the barrier.

It's through these means that the Imaginary District receives supplies it would not be able to otherwise from the outside world. It is also through these means that Youkai Hunters, or others who would seek less savory courses of action, enter the Imaginary District.

It's only natural that there must be some method of defending the Imaginary District, both from within and without.

The Police department is staffed with those who wield supernatural powers in order to protect the Imaginary District.

A recent invention, however, is the Miura Youth Organization. Composed of young people, both human and (whatever constitutes for young)youkai, it is a force intended to get younger residents involved with defending the Imaginary District, as a way to get them using their abilities for good purposes.

The founder of the Miura Youth Organization, Aoyama Makiko, is only a teenager herself.

But supplies aren't the only things who slip through the barrier at times...

So, um, this is an urban fantasy RP! It's set in my own personal setting, but a bit different then previous attempts. Set in Miura's Imaginary District, there is no masquerade within the barrier. Players will take up the rolls of members of the Miura Youth Organization or any other potential character type they can think of that'd work out. I'd like if you talked to me about other options, first, though.

Extremely old characters(over a hundred years) are not permitted, and neither are exceptionally powerful beings such as dragons. It unbalances the cast a bit. ^^;

I'm going to be less strict on playable character types in this RP then in others in the same setting. There's two main categories: Youkai and humans.

Youkai must be sufficiently human-like, and humans must have some sort of supernatural ability.

This can be mage techniques, onmyodo, or an isolated magic trait born from having a magical background but no formal training. Or even an item of some sort.

Here is my urban fantasy universe bible for more information.

This seems very very interesting! I'd love to make a character if you're okay with a newer member joining in. (I do have a lot of experience rp'ing outside of this site, though.)

@VitaVitaAR

Another idea I had was that of a necromancer who is sanction Ed by the police department for cold cases and homicides. Criminal investigator or homicide detective who uses their abilities to track down criminals. They would be in their twenties (not sure how young we are talking). If not I still have other ideas.

I'm just bouncing them off ya to see what would work. ^^`

I'm not sure that's an entirely suitable idea for this RP.

For one I think there'd not be much for him to do a lot, and necromancy itself is a bit of a weird area in terms of how it works.

So do the demons listed in your urban fantasy universe bible count as youkai? because I'm interested in making a demon character who was born of a human mother and demon father; but I'm not sure if you're okay with demons as playable characters.

Demons are pretty strong(also not youkai).

@VitaVitaAR

So then are you looking at more magelike CS sheets? If so what about a mage that does Dragonslayer magic (I can discuss more with you in PMS) and I'm not talking about actual dragonic magic but rather an imitation of it. High power fire magic? Or what about a monk that uses chi, natural energy (not so much Dragonball but Magic the Gathering Jisukai clan)

Dragons breath raw ether, as stated in the post I linked. ^^; High power fire magic would just be high power fire magic.

I don't really get your reference but just using chi isn't so much a thing.

Onmyouji and youkai, and potentially non-Japanese supernatural creatures. If you look up a list of youkai you should be able to easily find a lot of examples.

it would be more akin I guess to a guardian warlock, meant to protect or avenge humanity.

In Slavic mythology, a Vědmák (Russian: Ведьмак; Czech: Vědmák; Bulgarian: Вещер; Ukrainian: Відьмак, Vidmak, Belarusian: вядзьмак, вядзьмар,[1] Polish: Wiedźmin Serbian: Вештац[2]) is a warlock or male witch, the female equivalent (witch) being vědma,[3] but unlike the latter, the vedmak may also possess positive qualities.
For example, they treat people and animals,[4] protect humanity, and force witches to stop doing evil. On the other hand, they are thought to be people connected to the Devil, and are capable of harming other human beings by sending illnesses, killing cattle, spoiling a harvest, etc.[5] The word was also used as an insult.[5] A vedmak can turn into any animal or any object.[5] He is capable of shapeshifting into a horse, a moth, or a wolf. He is also resistant to rusalkas' enchantments.
The term Vedmak comes from Proto-Slavic *vědět ("to know") and Old Russian вѣдь ("knowledge; witchcraft", compare the use of the term "cunning" in English folklore).[6]
Under the influence of The Witcher fantasy saga by Andrzej Sapkowski, the term vedmak can be translated as "witcher" in English.

I mean... That would probably just be a mage? ^^; The wouldn't be able to shapeshift though, that's a very difficult area for humans unless you're staying human and just changing yourself... which is still tricky.
