Yes hello there. This looks neat and I have sensed that no one has specialized in one of the finest techniques of Ancient Asian combat... So I am going to rectify that.
Name/Nickname: Du Gang "Yaoguai of Shanshui"
Age: 39
Gender: M
Theme Song:
Political Affiliation: Pro Government
Fighting Style: Will of the Fire Dragon
Du Gang's martial arts derive from the teachings of the 'Fire Dragon', which is the more poetic name for incendiary based weapons. Gang's is trained in handling various incendiary weapons from the
Fire Lance, to
land and sea mines and many other incendiary weapons detailed under the Teachings of the Fire Dragon. However Gang's preferred incendiary weapons of choice are grenades, flaming arrows shot from a regular bow instead of a balistae, and even celebratory fireworks used for militaristic purposes rather than festive purposes.
Personality: Du Gang is a straight-laced individual. While he is a traditionalist for following societal customs, he is an avid technocrat and will go against society's natural flow if it means an expansion in urbanization or technology, especially militaristic. Despite what one may presume about someone who brings forth fiery destruction, Du Gang is a rather subdued individual who rarely gets worked up or emotional.
History: Du Gang was born in the Eastern Peninsula as the son of a retired low-level military officer Du Li. He was the middle son of three sons. While not a high class family, the Du's were respected for some military achievements alongside their artisan craftsmanship when it came to the production of fireworks. Du Gang, as a middle child, was not fully expected to take over his line of the family business, but was instead encouraged to find himself a scholarly position. He was tutored for this, but as he was growing up he saw others of the Du Family join up with the Sky Rebellion due to their loyalty remaining with fellow soldiers. So in order to serve the will of the family he was re-positioned into militaristic training from the Iron Schools where he learned the ways of archery, scouting and, the subject where he was particularly adapt in, demolitions and incendiary warfare. When Du Gang was fully trained and sent out he was at the tail-end of the War, and did not to see much conflict other than some skirmishes and focused fire-strikes at priority targets. During a brief period of leave Du Gang finally met the woman he was arranged to marry Fan Nuan. They married and he returned back to the war.
Fortunately for him and the Du Family, the Sky Dynasty proved successful. For a time there was peace for Du Gang. Then came the plague which struck down various members of the Du Family, like Gang's older brother. As if that wasn't enough, then came the Dragon Fang Liberation Army that Du Gang fought against in many proper battles, fire-strikes against their outposts and some skirmishes. During one of assaults to burn down a prominent outpost, Du Gang was captured by the Dragon Fang Liberation Army. As a POW, Du Gang was treated fairly poorly and was subject to torture. After a few months of incarceration, Du Gang was liberated after the Sky Dynasty military launched a successful attack on the outpost. Du Gang took some time to recover, but he knew damn well he was going to destroy this menace once and for all. During the period colloquially known as "Phoenix Blessing", Du Gang was among those personally responsible an intensive scorched earth policy against both the Dragon Fang Liberation Army and against those who caught the plague.
It was here where he earned both great admiration from his militaristic peers and great hatred from the common folk from his task of precise fiery destruction, earning him the moniker of the "Yaoguai of Shanshui". However he was not promoted as much as he should've been for his years of loyal service. Unfortunately politics caught up with Du Gang and higher ups did not wish to promote this man due to fear of causing the people to get even more riled up against the Sky Dynasty for making this figure who was known for purging civilians with fire into an even higher ranking military representative.
Fortunately for both Du Gang, and the military at large, came the Pale Hunter serial killings. The public would be distracted by this and if Du Gang was partially responsible for solving this mystery, theoretically it would improve his status in the eyes of the common man and thus wouldn't cause much trouble to finally raise Du Gang's standing to one he deserved. So it was an easy, but perhaps not the wisest, decision for Gang's superiors to send him out to help a motley band of collected folk-figures in solving this case.
