Is it possible to create a variant race of an already existing one?
As far as I am aware, it is possible indeed, and we even have a precedent. Though I would recommend discussing it with the original species' player beforehand.
@Archetype Zero Oraculum Is correct, a sub-species is indeed possible, and as he also said, you'll need to discuss with the player who made the species.
@Sigma if it's a human sub-species do I still have to ask the human nation?
I know that humans are still garden races, but since humans are usually the baseline of most roleplays and stories, they tend to have special rules depending.
@Archetype Zero The exact physiology and stuff you're probably fine with whatever you want to do. It's more the history and how they diverged from baseline humanity where you'll want to talk to @JaceBeleren.
@Archetype Zero Oz is right, and of course, your idea is possible for the fact that this setting is not "ours" so to speak, in that such a human sub-species is indeed possible.
@Archetype Zero No problem, but this will make the third feminine human-related race (after the Assar-Rhen and Xenor). Nothing wrong with that, obviously, but you might consider it a done thing.
Edit: I should mention that the Assar-Rhen are not a subrace, but an entirely seperate species, so a new race could be descended from them rather than humans. Just a thought.
I guess it depends on the fate of the Xenor, Holy Grail is going through some revisions, although there is a probability they will be moved over to the new Garden World or not, not quite sure.
@Sigma@Archetype Zero@Taeryn I can say this at this point in time: The Xenor will be dimorphic, but still uniquely odd as well.
But if anyone wants to make a race idea originating from my Garden World, feel free to ask. If no one wants to, i have two additional races that will be implemented into my new Garden World along with the Xenor. :P
@Sigma I am still here, i promise! Irl matters have sprung up that have held me back for a good few days. Starting tomorrow i should be able to continue progress on building my Garden World. :)
