Life hath been sapping my will to do stuff. I have a basic idea of an opening paragraph, but am waiting for others to post (read procrastinating). Minor Spoiler, it involves heads on spikes.
I'm kinda in the same boat as Ryteb,I know what I'm going to write but I want to see how everyone else approaches the intro post first. I'll try to post if nobody has done so by Wednesday though
@Wildman13 Not really. It just means that your governement gets replaced or puppeted, and they must obey the Empire. Plus you give the resources and all that.
The Black Sun and its hierarchal structure is not well known. The Insurrection operates secretively with many leaders in the order, but there is only one that everyone takes an order from. At least, this is what the Empire is led to believe, however this is where they hit the dead end; no one knows who this mysterious leader is, not even their own men, and even the higher ranking officials of the insurrection only know him as “The Watchman”.
Main race: Human
Minority races: Dependent on Location.
Demography: 100% Human (Will Change if anything happens in IC.)
Religion: Unafiliated/Agnostic/Aethist
Culture:
The Black Sun has many things in common with the Empire, surprisingly in terms of culture. However, unlike the rest of the Empire, the Black Sun doesn’t believe in the so-called “God Emperor”; instead, they believe that they should have the right to know the history before the Xeno war, as well as the right to choose where they live. They believe that the Triangulum belongs to the people and not to one man, not one Emperor, and that even the simplest peasant should have a say in what happens within the Empire. They loathe Imperial propaganda. They are, for the most part, tolerant of Xenos yet they have a deep-rooted distrust of them, especially with what happened three hundred years ago. Other than this, the Black Sun shares the same music, the same art, the same dances, and the same songs... the only difference is their longing for change.
History:
The Black Sun has its roots in history. It has been pestering the Empire since the end of the Xeno War some 300 years ago, and ever since then the Insurrection has grown, progressed, and evolved drastically. The game is different now, with the presence of new leaders at the helm of this small rebellion. Over time, the Insurrection got smarter and more organized. Every hit was well planned and they would disappear with little to no trace of their whereabouts. In the recent thirty years, however, this change has become more evident as the raids began to increase in frequency, this time with public messages being broadcasted to the public and images of the Empire’s mistreatment of colonists by forcing them to move to different systems, forcing them to live with Xenos.
The Black Sun has only targeted military targets. Their goal is secession, to become free from the Empire’s controlling grasp. If the Emperor has used his power to erase the history of Mankind, and force his people to live where they do not want to live, how long will it be until the Emperor abuses his power again? How will the abuse of power take place? Enough is enough, no more lies, we’ve been told that the Triangulum was ours, we’ve been told that this was our home, no this was the Emperor’s conquest, this was the Emperor’s Triangulum, This was the Emperor’s home… The Black Sun will give it all back to the people.
Martin Kell:
He is the mind behind the Black Sun, the elusive Watchman. He leads parallel lives: one as the leader of the Insurrection, and one as Spymaster within the Imperial Intelligence Bureau. As Spymaster, he gathers information and covers up the tracks of the Insurrection whenever possible. He has many allies and strings to pull, yet he keeps his head low and does his job within the Bureau with terrifying efficiency. He has all the pieces in play and yet still manages to hide in plain sight feigning loyalty to the Emperor. Many Black Sun members within the Empire are under his control as soldiers and body guards, and they continue to do their jobs and follow imperial command, oblivious to the fact that Martin is the Watchman. Martin is smart, cunning, meticulous and extremely careful. He knows his enemies very well and can read them like a book; after all, he has lived as a loyal servant for many years.
James Langerhan:
He is Martin’s friend and closest supporter. An Admiral in the Imperial navy, he was convinced by Martin in the past to join his crusade against the Empire. Martin then began trying to convince his fleet and his men covertly: a slow painstaking process, yet it was done. As an Imperial fleet that was now part of the Black Sun, they knew their job within the Empire and carried them out as the corruption spread, while the Empire remained blind to the presence of a rot growing from within, too distracted by the more public view of the Black Sun. James knew Martin was cunning, but never to the full extent, for he was terrified to know his full potential. He had already established the basis of a small nation from within the Empire without it ever knowing, while James himself was promoted the Rank of Admiral for his services after hunting down and destroying rebel fleets, a massive irony considering he is in one now, unbeknownst to the people and his comrades.
Kurt Macer:
He is an economist and an entrepreneur, having ownership of three companies that build arms, vehicles, and ships, as well as other companies inside the Empire. MacerIndustries.Inc has its grip around powerplants, misc. production of goods, agriculture, and water. He made his living from the ground up and is protected behind a wall of lawyers, but Martin got to him, see Kurt isn’t an honest business man, he makes the rest of his money by secretly shipping weapons to the highest bidders, this time however the bid was his freedom and security, Martin investigated him, and found evidence of illicit trade, Martin said “You help me, and all of this is evidence goes down the drain.” Needless to say Macer agreed. But Macer is no fool, he was privy to at least a part of Martin’s plan, he knows he’s seceding from the Empire, Macer knew that he’d become the sole industrial power within this new nation the prospects of which made him an eager supporter, he bought some PMC forces in order to bolster his ‘security force’ when in reality he was recruiting men for the Black Sun, Martin took note, and told Macer to lay low, and so he did, excusing the excessive amounts of PMC’s as an extra security measure when delivering military munitions, ships, and vehicles.
The Black Sun is grouped into two separate divisions differing by level of exposure.
GROUND CAPABILITY
-Frontliners: these people are the active part of the Insurrection, the ones who carry out raids by the order of The Watchman. Although they are loyal to a point, and they are usually underequipped, they will use whatever they can get their hands on, including Xeno Weaponry.
-Insiders: this is the tier the Empire does not know about yet. They gather intelligence and are the sleeper cells within the Empire, ready to let loose. They are waiting for the day they become active, no more taking orders from the Empire.
NAVAL CAPABILITY
-Frontliner Navy: they don’t possess many ships and they take what they can get: Xeno ships, salvaged ships, and stolen ships. It’s a small navy, a hodgepodge of imperial ships and Xeno ships, but nevertheless a navy that’s capable of raiding and salvaging enemy supply lines and battle groups.
-Insider Navy: this is the one that the Empire does not know about. They are the ship captains and crews of Imperial naval operations that support the Black Sun, among them including Mercenary ships that use older versions of Imperial ships, though highly modified to compete with current versions of Imperial mainstay battleships.
Technology: They use whatever they have at their disposal, whether it be xeno or human technology
@6slyboy6 Hmm.. I was planning to start with a weaken group of my race and starting from that I would free my people one by one from the Emporium of mankind and as news of my victories reach them they would start to rebel becoming something that can hurt the Emporium of mankind, of course if its ok with you?
I dont use Discord, never seemed to work well for me. Ive done fine on PMs so we could do that. Ill write up something to kick us off and send it to you.
And i would have just sent you one if the thing didn't screw up on me... entirely deleting my opening. -ugh-
