@MiddleEarthRoze Basically should we ban people from wishing for others not to abort babies?

My quick answer:

While I am pro-choice, I don't agree with that as long as there is another physician available to do the procedure required. To the objector, that's literally making them choose between their career, and what they perceive as murder.

If an objector hasn't the desire to perform the procedure under ethical or religious grounds, among others, they certainly should not be obligated to; the patient's rights do not supersede the potential doctor's as a standard, both are people, even if you consider the unborn to "not yet really be people". They are by objecting, quite literally, avoiding getting blood on their hands and instead opting to let someone else handle the touchy matter. Considering people somehow view butchery as a service to be provided, I think this practice of avoidance is a fair place to act on as at this rate the procedure of abortion I doubt to be going anywhere, so those against it should not be under any compulsion to perform it.

If someone does take issue with that, then perhaps it should be their duty to likewise find a place that performs the service that does not have opposition to it. I am sure that would not be too terribly difficult, but you could name any number of cases where people have demanded someone provides them a service. To my memory, no one can be forced to provide a service generally.

Under no circumstances should participation in a lifestyle be compulsory.

....okay under only a very few circumstances should participation in a lifestyle be compulsory. There's such a thing as a "right time" for, like, the draft. This is not one of those special circumstances. And it's actually spelled out pretty clearly in the first amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I've bolded the part which should pretty clearly rule out "you must do things you consider murder." Certainly the first portion applies as well -- congress shouldn't be banning abortions on religious or moral grounds either, but I digress. Compulsory homicide is the thing we're talking about. That.... doesn't sound like we even need to have a conversation about it, but I'll run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.

EDIT:
I'm sure @mdk believes he shouldn't be getting death threats, as do I, but during the Emily Lance story, his free speech advocacy was surprisingly absent. Thoughts?

Maybe I'll clarify something. I won't disregard actions of children. (actions mind.) Especially when committing legit violent crimes. Disciplining when young is the only way you can set little bastards straight. But they'll need to prove themselves that they are capable of intellectual conversation, before I hold their opinion with any weight. I'll believe kids hold those opinions, but age and lacking real world experience will be on my mind. But say, if an 18-19 year old moves out of their folks house, lives by themselves. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt they have street smarts, better than someone whose 30 and lives in their mom's basement. I guess in the same way you prefer people having an education when it comes to certain subjects. So I'll call out bullshit spewed from teens and adults alike, because I dislike misinformation. Anyone who sends death threats should be punished, would certainly deter them. But I will certainly take someone whose live a longer life experience and assume their least likely to change.

Also while typing this, I feel like utter crap and my throat hurts. So not sure if I'll be able to VC. Yay, my roommate and his girlfriend getting me sick at the least opportune possible moment.

@Dynamo Frokane Well I learned at 16...

Not a legal adult, so an unlikely scenario. You need some kind of guardian. Also most people aren't my roommate, so I doubt they'll compete with experiences on that particular front. :P

All's I know about either of these people is what's in your posts. Pissing on a flag seems significantly dumber than presenting an argument about the contributing factors to political violence. Your rights aren't contingent on you to be a non-dumbass though. What, uh.... What's going on here, what are we doing

Umm is that your interpretation for advocating for a white ethnostate? Because that's what he got the attention from.

What a load of horseshit. My favourite part is how somehow killing is a right, and objecting to it is unethical rather than the inverse.

Misgendering a person in the state of California now carries a heavier prison sentence than stealing a gun and murdering a human being.

Then why make that comparison? One got death threats for pissing on a flag, one got death threats for advocating a white ethnostate.

We all knew California was a lost state, that sooner or later it would begin to really pay for what it bought. I doubt this is going to be the end of it until this "sanctuary" nonsense is utterly and truly crushed as it well should be. No less, this is a particularly egregious case where favoritism and supposed importance of diversity won out over any amount of rationale thanks to social activism. Aren't we pleased and feeling good about ourselves to have these kind of people roaming free? Clearly they are contributing so much.

You posted a video of this random guy I've never heard of before, and the only thing I could remember six hours later at work was the part where he said "this everyone-that-isn't-me-is-hitler bullshit probably isn't healthy," then demanded to know why I hadn't compared him to this other random asshole who peed on things. I think there's a possibility you just spend more time with the assholes than I do. Anyway they're both perfectly within their rights. I don't know who these people are and I don't know why you're talking about them and I don't know what you want from me.
