This war hasn’t been the first involving Gifted- the superpowered, the blessed, the cursed- as a species, as active participants using their powers for bloodshed.

Throughout history, there have been traces of humans talented with special abilities, capable of feats unachievable by the average man or woman. Prophets, creatures of lore, those blessed with incredible luck, or who could read people completely, or those regarded as magicians...Of course, many were unaware of these abilities, and those who did were either regarded as gods, or kept their secrets under lock and key in fear of the consequences. It was only recently- several hundred years ago- that they began to appear more frequently, with more intense powers, more obviously “special”.

The Gifted.

As with anything unique, tensions rose, with humans declaring the Gifted dangerous. Their children could easily be harmed by one with super strength, and robberies could become even more life-threatening when performed by a pyrotechnic. War soon broke out, the recorded beginning dating to around a century ago. However, this story is not about then.

Humans, those who were unfortunate enough not to have such powers, not only lost; they were wiped off the face of the earth, with only tiny pockets remaining. In the chaos and anarchy that followed at the lack of any real stable civilization, two factions emerged.

Erubesco, the faction of culture, monarchy, grace, and science.

Liberty, the faction of order, efficiency, unity, and progress.

Given the clash of their ideologies, lifestyles, and many other factors, it did not take long before both declared war on one another. They scrambled to collect land, stronger Gifted to fight under their command, and to gain an upper hand when both were equal in strength. Both groups even found themselves relying on tampering with genetic code, hoping to unlock something which would strengthen their own side. The war has currently been raging for eight years in total, in which many lives have been lost, and many atrocities committed.

Of course, what with the fact that quite a number of the Gifted population disagree with the beliefs of the current superpowers, many splinter groups have formed. None have been unable to reach the strength that the factions possess, but still manage to survive in the harsh wastelands. Ranging from tribes, to mercenaries, to rag-tag bundles, it is common for these small communities to often be at each other’s throats, when they aren’t actively hunted by either faction for a particularly coveted powerset.

The world is at odds.

You must survive at all cost, wherever you are.

Hello, all. I'm Echo, your GM for this particular RP. I'm a bit new to the site, so bear with me on a few things, but I do have a set of rules for y'all first things first.

1. Basics apply here. No power playing, godmodding, stealing, killing/controlling someone's character without permission, etc.
2. Be polite. IC, characters can be at each other's throats, but OOC, we should all be on relatively friendly terms. :)
3. There's no limit on how many characters you can have, as long as you can handle writing them all.
4. Have fun!

If I do do this, I'm making a human: The Last Daughter of Earth. She might not be called that in the RP, but I thought I'd say it here anyway! ^_^

Quick question: what's the time period? Modern-ish? Post apocalyptic? I can't really tell, but I'm interested

@Kidd Kinda post apocalyptic out in the wasteland I believe, with the factions being modern-ish. Some extra technology, but not by a huge degree.

Not to be a backseat GM or anything, I just know Echo and know the plotline well at this point, haha.

@Framing a Moose: I'd rather not have anyone make a human, if possible. Considering that all of the other characters will be superpowered to various extents, it may end up being generally unfair to you and your character. Sorry, Moose. :c

@Kidd: Vivian looks great! Consider her approved. :)

Well, I was planning on giving her a lot of skills in substitute of a power. Not so much that it would make her OP, but enough to make it so she's not just canon fodder for the Gifted armies. And I was also thinking about making her a tinkerer, meaning that, while she has no naturally supernatural abilities, she makes machines and such that do certain things. And even if with all those ideas, you still think it'd be unfair to me, then I'd like to say that I'm fine with some unfairness on my side of things. I can deal with it.

Also, who are the Wanderers?

OCz Full name: Myalyn Rose Elbridget

Nicknames: Mya, May, or Dice. (She seems to strongly dislike her real name; introducing herself differently every time.)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Gift: "Variance" Her body is at war with itself. With lack of better terms, those who discovered her called her the mixture of a vampire and a mermaid. Though she did not need blood, and ate regular food, she had strong traces of bloodlust and was quite agile. Though she didn't have a tail and walked normally of two legs, she seemed to breath far less than he should. From time to time, she would stay under the surface of a body of water for long periods of time. With the pure passion of a vampire and the lust and dignity of a mermaid she created a perfect state of "Variance". When pure passion met with the spirit of water, it created a bust of electricity, a frightful spark. Aside from this, she is still not very physically strong.

Loyalty: Liberty

Description: about 5 feet 6 in height, Myalyn stands with a darker creme complexion and red brown hair. Her eyes are honey brown and her body seems to have the perfect weight for her minorly built build. She generally stands with very correct posture, twirling the ends of her hair that reach to about elbow length.

Personality: Though Myalyn does have an average voice she could use, she instead tends to speak in a lazy low tone all the time. She frequently narrows her eyes to show constant boredom, often brought upon herself. When in a moment of bloodlust, she may speak in a higher voice from time to time, and loves touching the people around her; hanging around their necks, holding their hands, and just flat out, being creepy. When in complete Variance, she becomes very warm and concerned but is also the most dangerous. When is a regular mood, she tends to withdraw, handling the mental struggle of Variance.

Skills: Myalyn loves playing mind games, although she usually controls herself. She is rather skilled with throwing knives although she doesn't own any of her own. She is quick to think outside the box, and very observant through her guise of indifference.

Weaknesses:Myalyn, when not in complete variance has a submissive nature. Although she seems forceful, her thoughts are vastly different. If she is ordered to do something, she finds herself feeling obligated, even trapped. Not only would she follow some orders from a ally, but can even be influenced by an enemy. She is also deathly scared of people who move slowly during combat.

Brief History:Myalyn was found as a child next to an abandoned swamp. She was somehow still alive and well. Being taken in by a childless couple, they hid her away as they raised her. Time went by as ship hit the fan and Myalyn was sent out of the house swiftly. Not only had she inherited the character of her name, but several other things: undesirables.

Other:She wears a blue ribbon around her left wrist they she refuses to remove.

@Framing A Moose: The Wanderers are the characters who live outside in the Wastes, and are unaffiliated with either faction. It's very common for little nomadic communities to form, seeing as staying alive by your lonesome in the ashland is very dangerous. If you create a human, they'd probably have to be a Wanderer, as the factions would immediately kill her, because nonGifted humans were/are seen as subhuman and dangerous by the Gifted. Also, speaking of which, it's fine if she's a Human, so long as she's not the last one, as a few other people have expressed an interest in eventually making human characters. :)

@Dyece: Approved!

Alright, Awesome! I was never actually planning on her being the very last human, she just thinks she is. She's never met another, so she has no reason not to think so. Anyway, I shall make a human Wanderer! Though I'm still contemplating whether I'll go with my original idea and have her be a lone marauder, even though it'd be dangerous and risky, especially since she is an unGifted human, or have her travel with a group of more open minded Wanderers.

@Framing A Moose: Sounds good! Go with whatever you feel best fits the character and her backstory. :) I look forward to seeing her sheet come in!
Keep in mind that Wanderer groups aren't usually massive or anything if you go with that, though, considering how often a lot of them have to travel, and the fact that they have to slip under the faction radar so often.

Alright, I think I'm gonna go with a lone Marauder, but she's on good terms with the various small Wanderer communities she's run into, and occasionally travels with other Wanderers when she needs to.
